Pick-up from Lahaina Cannery Mall, Maui Mall & the Kula Lodge

Located over 3,000 feet above sea level along the hill-side of Haleakala, the Kula Lodge is a great place to pick-up unique local gifts including popular local jams and jellies, freshly harvested honey, Maui dressings, Kula coffee, and delicious organic tea leaves.

Your guide will take you slowly up the mountain to allow your body to acclimate to the elevation as you make your way almost 7,000 feet above sea level. As the temperatures begin to fall, you will have the opportunity to change into warmer clothing, put on a sweater, and add more warm layers.

Once you reach the summit, you will quickly be in awe at the amazing beauty of the area. Not only will you have ample places to sit and relax, but the crowds will have dissipated by then, and you can enjoy unobstructed views. Sunset tours are some of the best ways to experience Haleakala!

With binoculars in hand, you will have the opportunity to view the beauty of Haleakala as the sky and clouds change from dusk, to sunset, and then to twilight. The clouds and sky will be a vibrant array of colors, and keep your eyes open to see the famous "green flash" once the sun sinks low.

Watch as the sun dips below the sea of clouds, and turns the sky into vibrant shades of orange and red. Afterwards, enjoy the opportunity to eat the dinner or snacks you have brought, as your guide regales you with the fascinating history and information about Haleakala and the island of Maui.

Not only is your guide an expert about Haleakala, but also a member of the American Astronomical Society, and he will be on hand to assist you in using the large high-powered GPS-controlled telescope. Enjoy the best stargazing on Maui while at the summit of Haleakala!
