Begin your journey along Maui’s dramatic western volcano coast with a visit to Makamakaole Stream, home to cascading waterfalls and tranquil pools. Continue up a scenic mountain road carved into steep cliffs, stopping at breathtaking lookouts overlooking rugged ocean views.
Visit a cliffside gallery featuring handcrafted jewelry, art, and décor from more than 100 local artisans. Then, travel into the remote Hawaiian village of Kahakuloa, one of Maui’s last untouched communities, where you’ll enjoy a taste of the island’s famous banana bread and lilikoi butter.
Discover the Bell Stone lava fields, remnants of ancient eruptions that created hollow “bell stones” that ring when tapped. If conditions allow, hike down to the Olivine Tide Pools, a natural formation where you can spot marine life and cool off in a heart-shaped basin.
Marvel at one of Maui’s most powerful natural wonders, the Nakalele Blowhole. Watch as ocean waves surge through an ancient lava tube, shooting seawater over 100 feet into the air in a dramatic display of nature’s force. Nearby, take time to explore the Heart-Shaped Rock for amazing photos.
Stop at the Honolua Bay overlook to see Maui’s healthiest coral reef shimmering beneath turquoise waters. Then journey inland to the lush ʻĪao Valley, a sacred site where waterfalls tumble down steep cliffs surrounding the famous ʻĪao Needle, a 2,200-foot natural basalt tower.
