Inter-Island Day Trips

We were told to meet at the Southwest Ticket counter in Maui and no one was there. We talked to an agent with Hawaiian Airlines & told her of our delema & after entering our driver's license # she said we were confirmed ... moreon their flight to Honolulu. She was very kind & helped us tremendously.
Next problem was where to meet Sunshine Tours. There wasn't a clear direction as to the meeting place. That was two things where there was no clear direction.
Our tour guide was excellent. He was very informative & very much a people person. We couldn't have gotten anyone better.

Russ was a fantastic tour guide. We felt he was knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about his island. Everything was well organized from the ferry to transportation once we got there. We stayed on the island and took ... morethe 5:30 pm ferry. Our driver took us to the cat sanctuary and then picked us up and took us to the Four Seasons to chill until it was time to head to the ferry. He then came back and took us to the ferry. This was all very much appreciated!

The ferry was great - a bit expensive at$70 each direction. We were able to see all the highlighted stops on Lana’i in just one day. Fun little town diner for breakfast. We used a Jeep to explore the island - another... more $200. So, for two of us to explore for one day was about$700. This is our 5th trip to Maui so we were curious to explore a nearby island.

We were interested & curious about the recent history of Lanai - from Dole to Murdock to Ellison. Lucky for us, Josh and his family lived it all & he was kind enough to share with us. Having the right guide makes all t... morehe difference. If you decide to go, we hope you are lucky enough to catch a day with Josh.

The only negative is parking at Maalaea harbor. Unless you're on the first trip in the morning at 0630, plan on a long walk from your car to the boat. They use a smartphone payment app for all parking in the harbor. At $1 per hour, the rate isn't bad - but the process of in-putting your credit card & rental car license plate info can be a problem, especially if you're running late. We were there at 0545, began boarding at 0600, and under way at 0630 on the dot. Give yourself plenty of time.

My wife and I had a spectacular day. We got on the boat from the beach in Ka'anapoli Beach and sailed to Lanai. There was plenty of food and drink. We landed ashore on Lanai and had a great couple hours on the beautif... moreul beach. The host provided beach chairs, beach mats, snorkel gear, lifeguards, juice and water, snacks and even sun screen. The beach was great and the water was clear. The reef had a variety of fish to observe while snorkeling.
Then a bbq lunch was provided which was plentiful and delicious. The sail back to Ka'anapoli Beach was very pleasant. Again snacks and endless drinks were provided. Great trip!!

Derick was great on our tour! Very knowledgeable of the island and nature. Professional yet personal.
