Wailuku on the northwest side of Maui is home to the state-of-the-art Maui Ocean Center, a renowned marine park that fosters understanding, wonder and respect for Hawaii's marine life. This center contains the largest collection of spectacular live coral displays in the U.S., and seeks to teach visitors about Hawaii's natural history and cultural heritage. Facilities feature elusive garden eels, lion fish, green sea turtles, sharks, rays, and more.
Tips for Visiting Maui Ocean Center
Hours of Operation: The Maui Ocean Center is open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm, and until 6:00pm in July & August.
Things you should know:
- Parking is FREE in front of Maui Ocean Center.
- Round-trip shuttle service from West & South Maui hotels is now available for $5.
- Plan to stay for at least 2 hours to experience all aquariums and presentations. The center allows entrance up til closing time, but the park closes promptly at the end of the day.
- General Admission is self-guided and you can explore at your own pace. Audio guides (English) are available for a small rental fee.
