Iao Valley State Park

Iao Valley State Park in central Maui is home to the Iao Needle, one of Maui's most recognizable landmarks standing at 1,200 feet. Traditional Hawaiian lore says that the park was the final resting place for some of the island's highest ranking chiefs. Once a sacred alter, this natural section of rock arching upwards surrounded by the vast crater of Pu'u Kukui is a sight to behold, flanked with emerald peaks and overlooking the sparkling Iao Stream.
