What are the guides like?
  • Guides are extremely experienced and know a significant about about Hawaii and its history. Some of their guides are faculty members of the University of Hawaii - Hawaiian Studies Department.
Can I bring my own snacks?
  • While there are snacks and water provided, you are more than welcome to bring additional snacks.
Is giving a tip (gratuity) required?
  • Gratuity is never required, but if you enjoyed your experience a tip is always greatly appreciated!
How far in advance should I book this activity?
  • We recommend booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance. If you have very specific schedule requirements and are not flexible, please book sooner. Last minute availability is often possible, but limited.
What sort of experience do the guides have?
  • Providing educational tours in an outdoor setting, the staff features cultural practitioners, Native Hawaiians, and Hawaiian educators that present Hawaiian history and environment from a native perspective. Many of the guides hold advanced degrees in Hawaiian studies or related disciplines as well as others with expertise ranging from hula (dance) to lomilomi (massage) to la'au lapa'au (medicinal herbs).
