  • Guests who are pregnant are not permitted to participate in this activity.
  • This activity is not wheelchair accessible.
  • People 15 years old and above can participate in this activity.
  • Guests must be at least 4 ft 10 in (147 cm) to participate in this activity.

Other requirements

  • Participants are required to sign a liability waiver at the time of check-in.
  • Minors are required to have a parent or guardian sign their liability waiver.
  • All cyclists need to have the ability to balance, steer and stop on a bicycle.
  • You will be required to provide a credit card at the time of check-in and you are liable for any damages to the bicycle.
  • A fully functioning and charged smartphone is required in order to use the GPS Audio App.
  • You must get your Hawaii Volcanoes National Park pass. If you don't already have one, visit: https://www.recreation.gov/sitepass/2753.

  • Hat
  • Camera
  • Sunscreen
  • Credit Card and Identification for the equipment deposit.
  • Layered Clothing (warm layers, athletic pants, jacket). Temperatures at the Summit (4000′ above sea level) sometimes range in the low 60’s to upper 70’s. Be prepared for windy and possibly misty & wet conditions.
  • Protective Eyewear (sun glasses or prescription glasses)
  • Rain Jacket (If you don't have one, you can purchase at the adjacent Kilauea General Store)
  • Backpack (If you don't have one, you can rent for $5)
  • Binoculars (optional)

  • Lava viewing is unpredictable and is not guaranteed. The active flow status is constantly changing. The lava viewing area can close at anytime due to hazardous conditions.
