Oceanfront Royal Kona Luau with Open Bar - Voyagers of the Pacific Show Instant Confirmation
Have an evening of Polynesian food and entertainment that you will not soon forget with one of the best luau on the Big Island! The Royal Kona Luau awaits with authentic Hawaiian music and dance, and even a thrilling Samoan fire knife dance.
What is a luau?
A luau is a traditional Hawaiian gala featuring food and entertainment. In ancient Hawaii, the feast would normally feature simple but tasty cuisine like kalua pig, a pulled pork dish cooked underground, squid laulau, a seafood dish made with taro leaves and coconut milk and poke, cubed fish marinated with sea salt and seaweed.
In modern times, a luau is often held in celebration of graduations, birthdays, weddings and other occasions, and preparations are a family affair that begins at least a few days before the luau itself. One of the most iconic aspects of a luau is the "imu" or underground oven made of heated lava rock in which a whole pig wrapped in ti leaf is cooked using indirect heat for hours on end.
Performances can range from professional bands and dancers, to a kanikapila jam session where friends and family will pick-up an ukulele with dancers jumping up to perform if a song tickles their fancy.
