Lihue is the county seat of Kauai and the gateway city for the entire island. It sits on Kauai’s southeast coast, about 4 miles from Lihue Airport (LIH), the main commercial airport serving Kauai. Lihue has Kauai’s driest microclimate compared to the rainy North Shore, but it can still see passing showers year round. April-June and September-October are the calmest, sunniest months.
