Our guide Wes was incredible! We learned so much and enjoyed the sunset and stargazing on Mauna Kea so much! Wes was knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
It was absolutely amazing. Our tour guide was so informative and polite it made the trip that much better.
The only recommendation if you want to see the stars schedule your trip when the moon is near the ne
This is a great tour to see sights that you wouldn't otherwise get to see on your visit to the Big Island. We rode through the forest and on the coastline, getting to see amazing views. The tour guides, Nato and Henry, were amazing and had so much knowledge about Kohala and Hawaiian history. This tour educated us on other areas that we ended up going to visit during our trip.
During this tour you get absolutely filthy. Be sure to bring extra clothes and wipes!
If you'e going to Kona, you HAVE to night snorkel with the manta rays! It was such a magical experience that felt once in a lifetime. Initially, I was scared to get into the ocean at night, but once you're in the water, the wonder and amazement settled my fears.
This tour is a particularly good one to choose because the boat ride to "Manta Village" is only about 5 minutes from the dock. There are other tours where you leave from a different dock and the boat ride is 45 minutes. For someone that gets seasick, choosing this tour over others is a no brainer.
Be aware that they may change your tour time. During my visit, they were offering tours at 6pm, 7pm, and 8pm. We booked the 7pm tour. On the day of tour, they called us at about 1pm and told us the 7pm tour was being cancelled because there weren't enough people signed up. They asked us to join the 6pm tour. They did the same with the 8pm group. Luckily, it worked with our schedule and wasn't a big deal, but it's something to be aware of.
This tour was one of my favorite things we did while on the Big Island! Initially, the plan was to just go to the Waipi'o Valley lookout. I am so glad we ended up deciding to take the tour. You're taken down into the valley (on an extremely steep road) in a 10ish seater van. I get really carsick and had no issues during the tour. Our wonderful guide, Forrest, informed us of the history of the valley and it's people. He was extremely informative and clearly cares so much about the valley and it's history. The views inside the valley were stunning! Do yourself a favor and book this tour.
Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and kind. He went out of his way to teach us about Waipi’o family and ensure we experienced it to the fullest!
James, our guide, was very knowledgeable, funny and the added stories he told us were add treat. James made sure we got to see all the views on our way up the volcano. Seeing the views from the summit were amazing. And the star gazing after crazy. Again James showed us all the constellations that were in the sky. The tour also has a telescope were we got top see the moon up close. We even got to see Saturn
A great trip. Staff , boat and equipment was excellent. Fun for first time snorkeling
This was our first time doing this excursion. It did not disappoint. Wes, our guide was so knowledgeable and very impressive with explaining things in English and Japanese. The views were breathtaking.
I have a gluten allergy and it was SO incredibly helpful to have everything clearly labeled. The show was outstanding, the crew was friendly and helpful, the food was absolutely delicious. All around 10s
Hot at first with the sun coming down, but the sunset views are phenomenal!
I was a little nervous with my mom being 70 need to get into the submarine. They were very accommodating for her. Words cannot describe how amazing it was to be in this submarine. The picture that I posted of my sister and my husband with the most wonderful look, enjoying their selves Beyond words. This is my absolute favorite memory from our big island vacation 2025.
This tour was awesome. The views were amazing, the trails were fun, and our guides went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We enjoyed the stories about the culture and landscape that our guides shared with us at each spot we stopped at along the way. Thank you again for an awesome experience!
An amazing experience watching the sun set into the clouds at the summit of Mauna Kea, breath taking. Followed up with an evening of incredible stargazing, to hard to explain the beauty of it. James was an excellent tour guide diving into Hawaiian history, culture, and his knowledge of the observatories, their work and the constellations that we could see during our star gazing experience made the evening even better.
Warm Jackets are provided but bring a sweater as well.
Our guide to the Waipi'o Valley tour was Kaloeo Olival He did a superlative job. We really enjoyed the tour and learned quite a bit about Hawaiian traditional culture.
Thanks to you and to Kaloeo!

This was the highlight of our cruise. We were lucky to see the Volcano erupt, which was well worth the trip. The restaurant we stopped at for lunch was also very good. Desmond and Anthony were great guides.
We enjoyed a perfect sunset and stargazing was cold, but worth it. The tour guide and driver were very good, professional and enthusiastic.
It doesn't take much time for the Manta rays to show up, swimming with these giant peaceful fish is amazing experience.
We have limited snorkeling experience so it is tiring to float 45 minutes. We are exhausted when returning to the boat. It worths the experience.
Tip: Bring hot drink and chocolate bar with you!
The crew are willing to help with sea sickness and exhaustion, but they only have bottled water. The nearest place to get any replenish is Longs Drugs which requires several minutes of driving.
Bring hot drink and chocolate bar. Snorkel tour is exhausting.
This experience went beyond our expectations! It was perfect length in time, didn’t feel rushed at all! The trainer was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had an amazing time!
We were told by a couple at our hotel to make sure we do this tour and it was 💯 worth it! What a unique experience led by one of the native Hawaiian to see this hidden valley! Perfect for our 6 year old and adults too! It’s truly like a garden of Eden.
Wonderful boat & crew- with full bar & fruit. The location was pristine. The snorkelling was great- they have all the equipment. Very safe for kids. Fantastic afternoon.
A wonderful experience, If you would like to spend a chill time and have a deeper understanding in Waipio valley ,choose it!
So many gorgeous stops along this tour, and the guides are so funny and make a long day seem like a breeze.
Anthony and Desmond were spectacular tour guides! Desmond is an expert at taking the amazing photos of your group, and Anthony is so knowledgeable and taught us so much with words, pictures, and artifacts while driving. But most of all, they were friendly and caring. I've never been more impressed with two tour guides! The tour showed us many interesting sites and we had a blast. It was the highlight of our trip to the big island!
Viel Zeit auf dem Gipfrl vor Sonnenuntergang, um alles anzuschauen, toller Sternenhimmel mit Erklärungen, sehr gute Organisation , super Guide, James
Crew was fantastic and so were the drinks. The vessel is very spacious and comfortable! Came aboard as part of my Bachelor party and it was an unforgettable and super fun time!
Worth every second! The trainers make the experience so special and being so close to the dolphins was a once in a lifetime experience. Loved every minute!
We were traveling with young kids who were not really into snorkeling.. so we were looking inexpensive ways to look at some beautiful marine life. This was perfect for us. 5 minutes walk from our resort. Friendly, knowledgeable and more importantly patient staff. Luckily we kind of got a private tour as there was no one else at the same time as ours.
Kids loved it, we loved it too. Definitely recommended!!
It is an experience with my 3.5 year old daughter I will never forget, and I think she will remember forever. The trainer was very informative and great with kids. It’s clear how much they care about the dolphins, and the dolphins love what they do.
Great guide (local), the pick up spot is a neat art gallery with a snackshot. The tour was great, filled with local knowledge and just the right length.
You might want bug spray (we didn't need it) and the wild horses aren't shy so bring apple slices!
