WOW!!!!!!!!!! Totally worth it :)

Being a first time kayaker, he took the time to get me comfortable paddling before heading out. The hike was great and the waterfall was breathtaking! So many things to see along the way, all of which our guide pointed out. I would highly recommend this to everyone who visits the island. Thanks for the great memories. Be back soon!

Wailua River Kayak, Rainforest Hike & Waterfall Swim Adventure with Lunch
Adam was our guide
Reviewed by: Very Happy!, 2015/10/06I normally do not write reviews, but this was needed. Please read this through to the end for the grand finale. The trip to the falls with Adam from Outfitters was about as good as it gets. He was very knowledgeable and engaging. My wife and I took a relaxed approach when preparing for this trip and wore flip-flops (not recommended due to the muddy trail you need to hike). When we arrived at the trail, Adam actually took the time to identify a local plant, strip the bark, and retrofitted our flip-flops into sandals. Someone in our group actually thought it was a set-up, but it wasn’t. Beyond just that, he kept the group together throughout while keeping the trip new and fresh with information. I would imagine being in his shoes, being a guide day-in and day-out; it would be natural tendency to become a little dull or burned out, but maybe not, and not Adam. To top it all off, on our way back kayaking along the river, he helped to salvage a sinking kayak and rescue two panicked people, who were with another kayak company. These two people were stranded and abandoned by their guide, with their Kayak filling with water and sinking. Adam and another local guide came to the rescue, initiated help from a couple other kayakers nearby (including us), and managed to drain the water filled kayak, pluck the two people from the river, and get them back safely to the dock, including the damaged kayak. At the same time he ran into the guide for those people and being very classy said to him “You got my back next time right?”. (I don’t think I would have been as nice.)

Hidden Valleys of Kauai Waterfall Swim, Kayak & Hike Adventure
Fun but there was no waterfall swim!
Reviewed by: CTacc, 2015/09/02I really enjoyed the kayaking part of it down the river. Our tour guide was really friendly and good at describing the history of certain things around the river. However, my husband and I were really looking forward to swimming at the waterfall, but the waterfall wasn't any high one. It was a really small waterfall, almost like a grotto. We couldn't swim anywhere at all, and really wanted to swim, hoping the river leads to a stream or a high 100ft waterfall...

Great kayak experience

The workout was respectable, but offered great sights along the way that kept us interested, and an interesting hike through the Hawaiian woods. At the end the jump off a cliff into the river was tons of fun. I would definitely recommend this trip; a good mix of fun, beautiful sights, and physical exertion.

It takes a little time to get going, but the tips for proper kayaking/zipping and safety are well worth it!! A special shout out to Mahow (Heavenly Mist) and Aaron, you're AWESOME.

Sacred Falls Adventure - Wailua River Kayak, Hike & Waterfall Swim
Conflicted ~ Good/Not So Good
Reviewed by: NorCal, 2015/07/07We had 3 athletic families attend this trip with adults and teens. The kayaking was BEAUTIFUL on the way 'in' to the hike (current and wind assisting). The hike itself was a bust and we all like to hike. Our guide left us to our own devices for most of this trip and was of little guidance. Even wading through the water to the hike our guide took us the more difficult route. We know this because on our return to the kayaks a couple of us followed a different guides route across the river which was so much simpler and safer! The hike was muddy and slippery despite having good water/hiking shoes. We had adults/kids fall many times and one significant injury. Others had already slipped in this location yet our guide offered no help or alternative. In early July, unfortunately the waterfall yielded little water. The hike not worth the end result. We did enjoy the 'work out' aspect of the kayak trip back. It was beautiful but challenging going against the current if you aren't a regular kayaker.
At a minimum: I'd rate this a moderate adventure and challenging for individuals who aren't regularly very active.

The swimming was in a pool rather than waterfall. The title was misleading.

Action packed day

Kayaking was really nice and peaceful. While the zip lines are long there are only two of them (not the three as described). Also a special note for the lunch, best lunch from all the activities we did, that has been improved since the previous reviews.

The guide showed us a lot of things and explained to us. It was awesome to swim in the warerfall pool but also pretty cold! Great tour - I recommend it to everyone!

Fun, beautiful kayaking, hiking trip
Reviewed by: Susan Swanberg, 2014/10/31Because we were off season my husband and I were the only ones that signed up for a kayaking tour - so we got a private tour with a guide. Our guide, Christian, was very friendly, familiar with the area and so helpful to have along. Being I had never kayaked before he went over safety features and the easiest way to get in and out of a kayak! The kayaking was easy (gorgeous views along the river), the hike was fun (mud up to my knees) the waterfall at the end was beautiful. It was a very successful trip and would very happily do it all again.

One of the best activities of our week on Kauai

I was unable to participate -- I have a bad knee and wear a brace, and it was recommended that it would be risky for me. Afterwards, my husband said that that was the right decision -- there's a bit of hard work in getting through the mud to the falls. The guide shared interesting local information throughout the day, it was beautiful, fun, active. would do it again. Thank you!

そこそこハードです

カヤックを川におろして、30分程度のカヤック。慣れてないため、かなり遅れをとりました。
その後、アップダウンはそれほどないものの泥道だったり藪だったりの一時間超の歩行。
滝を見ながらお弁当食べて、帰ってきます。お弁当は往路は背負ってるのがつらいほどボリュームたっぷり。
カウアイの自然を肌で感じることができるツアーです。

Loved swimming in the waterfall and the kids loved the rope swing!

Reviewed by: Lora Keller, 2014/07/09This excursion was originally booked for my daughters 17th birthday celebration, as your description states that you only have to be 16 to drive with a valid drivers license ,however apon check in it was discovered that this policy changed over 2 years ago.
Rules are rules, and she was not allowed to drive.....HOWEVER......everyone bend over backwards to correct the situation and make my daughters day still special. It was hard
to stay upset as everyone did what they could do and did so quickly. While still on the ride, I got a voicemail from VELTRA apologizing for their error and that it was taken care of before we even returned .
The staff and guides were the nicest people and made the whole experience a wonderful one. Thank you to VELTRA for correcting your error so quickly....she can't wait till next time to be old enough to drive, and thank you to the staff for being so awesome!

It was an amazing experience and the guides were very good at giving direction on how to handle sticky situations. The only thing that would have made the experience better would have been MORE MUD!
The lunch was fresh and delicious, and we even got to share it with some wild pig.
The guides were very informative and couldn't have cared more about you if you were their own family.
I ended up being the only single rider on this trip, and I loved every moment of it!
