Good mix of adventures.

There are several places to get wet during the hikes that were fun. If you can't decide on what kind of adventure you want to do then this is a great mix.

Kipu Ranch Kauai ATV Tour with Waterfall Swim - Triple Trail Expedition
Excellent adventure
Reviewed by: Travel4fun Group, 2014/07/07What a blast! We rode in the Teryx 4 seaters and everyone had a fantastic time. The staff was great (James and Marlon). They were very knowledgeable about the ranch and history of the island. It had rained heavy the night before and still a little rainy when we started out which made the adventure even more fun in the mud. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next week and did their 'Teryx and BBQ tour' with James, which was completely different from the waterfall tour. We saw other parts of the ranch plus the food was great. This tour is only on Wednesdays for no more than 6 Teryx and not advertised. On our second tour the roads were dry and DUSTY. It was still fun but you will get dirty. If You only had time for one tour, I recommend the waterfall tour. It's a 4 hour tour (the BBQ tour is only 3 hours) because you will see more parts of the ranch and will get to swim under a waterfall towards the end of your adventure.

Unfortunate weather put a damper on the trip
Reviewed by: Paul and Karyn, 2014/03/31We were in Hawaii for our 25th anniversary and this was our first trip we had booked. My husband was really looking forward to the kayaking and I was really looking forward to the ziplining. Unfortunately because of the weather (nothing the staff could have done about it - they were really great people!), but we ended up kayaking down a mud river in pouring rain. Hiking through a muddy forest. Lunch was great (sun came out and beautiful spot), but we were super disappointed that there were only 2 ziplines and then the waterfall swim was more like a mud puddle splash. Unbelievably...the weather got worse and we hiked what seemed like 5 miles out of the wettest, muddiest conditions we've ever experienced and took an open boat ride back. Soaking wet, really cold with wind blowing on you from boat ride. Our whole group all tried to keep our spirits up, after all, we're in Hawaii, but you could tell that everyone just wanted it over by the end. An unfortunate shame...probably would have rated it a 4 if it had been a sunny day.

Beautiful ... and muddy

I do think one should be warned a little more of how muddy the trail to the falls is, but even with that it was beautiful and fun. I would recommend this to anyone younger and in decent shape...if you have bad knees or are excessively heavy you would be much more prone to injury on the hike.

Reviewed by: ZNmez, 2014/03/08Mark and Mano were our guides for the 4 hour ATV waterfall tour. It was kinda wet out but that didn't stop any of us from having a great time. It had been raining for three days prior as well so the trails were muddy and lots of fun! We rode in a side by side (tyrex) and slip and slide through the mud we got to see some of the most amazing views of the island! Kipu ranch is gorgeous with two waterfalls on the tour and a giant bamboo forest you have never seen before! Plus a chance to swing into the same river as Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones!! So much fun! The guides are careful considerate and knowledgeable! The lunch was the best deli sandwiches I've ever had with Marks mothers home made bread and cookies! Yum! So good. Recommend this tour! The best on the island! Cool photo opportunity at the end with a large Kipu Ranch frame!

Reids were 'Reid-y' for anything!
Reviewed by: Reid Family, 2014/01/06Our day for this adventure was sunny and warm. The ten of us were excited to get underway and see the secret waterfall hidden amongst the trees.
The kayaks we were given were ocean kayaks and were very comfortable and easy to use.
After a very muddy hike, the cool clean water of the pool by the beautiful waterfall was very much appreciated. The hike was much muddier than expected, and at times we were slogging through muddy puddles where we could not see our feet. It was dangerous at times. Perhaps a little more preparation for those participating would be beneficial. The guides are used to the conditions and may forget that us regular folk from snow country may not be as accustomed to mud and such.
Our guide was well-versed in the natural plants, and even made us bracelets from the leaves of a tree. He was patient, and very knowledgeable.
Lunch was good and nutritious, and we were all hungry by the time we got to the waterfall.
We would do this trek again, but might check in first to see what the mud factor is!

Muddy trek

The only bad part was that it had been raining the past few days and the road was muddy. My shoes were completely muddy and others chose to just walk bare feet in the muddy road. I think I will stay with beach activities since I can hike the Shenandoah back home. FYI- There were roosters and chickens even at the waterfall.

Wailua River Kayak, Rainforest Hike & Waterfall Swim Adventure with Lunch
The hike into hell
Reviewed by: JnJtucson, 2013/12/08This excursion should never have happened. The first part, the paddle upriver was fine, but that's where the fun stopped. Due to the recent rain activity, the normally treacherous, 2 foot wide path to the falls was turned into a muddy,ankle busting,obstacle course. Even when it is dry, this path is just barely navigable. Several people on our tour fell down and slipped into the mud,which pretty much covered the trail. We had to cross the river a couple of times, which normally would have been a fun experience, but it turned into a survival contest for many of us. Once we got to the falls, there was nowhere to sit comfortably to eat the lunch, which we had to backpack in from the kayaks. There are rocks all around the pool formed by the falls, but you have to pick your way through them, holding on to something all the way. While the falls is cute and right out of a Hollywood TV show, it is, in my estimation, not worth the trouble and cost to see it. I suggest that this trip be left to younger, childless couples in their 20,s or 30,s, if they really need to pick their way through tree roots and rocks for 2 miles. If you have youngsters, think again about this trip. If you're over 50, forgetaboutit!!
The guide was great and tried to help as much as possible, but I think he should have called off the trip due to the rains. Someone should have gone up the trail early enough to warn everyone of the conditions. Had there been another way down from the falls, I would have paid anything not to go back through the muddy hell that we endured on the way up. I guess that some tourist companies will do anything for money, especailly when it is ours. I cannot recommend this activity to anyone until the path is fixed. This activity should be labeled "moderate to hard". Lastly, should you think that this is the raving of a wimp, I am a former Special Forces, Vietnam vet who has slogged through the worst jungles in the world and survived. This one gave me a good test.

I would just say be prepared to get a workout. For those that don't exercise, you might want to consider something else. You don't have to be a marathon runner, but if you are a couch potato this might be a stretch for you.

Reviewed by: Mamick, 2013/08/12This was really a fun and beautiful experience. Jessie was our guide, and he did a wonderful job. We were late starting, but that was because in the group prior to us he had a blind man and two elderly. It shows his patience that these three were able to complete this adventure. Let me state this is not for those who are not moderate to fit. The paddle can be tough if the wind is blowing (which it normally is). And the hike is beautiful (but can be muddy and you have to watch your step). We would highly recommend this trip for those up for the adventure. Again, Jessie is your man! It is beautiful, he is knowledgeable, and it was very fun!

Our Honeymoon
Reviewed by: Jonathan, 2013/05/14My wife and I made reservations online through VELTRA. I knew nothing more than the reviews posted on here (VELTRA/hawaiian activities) and a travel guide book. We enjoyed our morning paddle hike and tour so much! A great adventure that would not have been accomplished so smoothly on our own. It was our first time down the trail. It rains in Kauai, a lot, so the trail was mostly muddy. The guide for the trip kept us safe and informed about how to get there best. He also lead us on hawaiian time for the return trip. Allowing us all more time at the falls since our group was composed entirely of families. I appreciated that very much and a thank you to anyone from the company who reads this. Do not expect that though on your trip, we were lucky that no tour group was scheduled in the afternoon. Our stay on the island began the last week of April, until the first week of May.
You don't have to help the guide, but its friendly to do so. I bet you'll get a better trip out of it.
Wow Jonathan, Thanks for taking the time to share your kind words. Nice to get the feedback that we are doing a good job. Constant struggle to keep good guides and have them approach each tour, as if it is the first day they are offering it. Come back and enjoy the same or some of the others....but mostly just wanted to thank you for caring and taking the time to share.

Great value for the money & SO FUN!

The kayak in was a fun little adventure and the hike in wasn't tough at all. The staff were so wonderful. We felt like there us no way we could have had so much fun for a whole day deal for the price. Nick, Mitch, and Golden were so funny and personable. Bring a camera with a wrist strap, your swim suit for the two swimming holes (one with a mini zip), sunscreen, water shoes, and big spray. Mahalo, Outfitters!! Ya'll are the best!

楽しかった！！

2人乗りのボートに前後で座って、1時間弱ぐらい上流へ行きます。そのごジャングルの中を歩きながら進みますが、その途中でガイドさんが色々なことを教えてくれます。滝の前で昼食を食べその後カヤックで出発したところに戻ります。
服装は水着を中にきてシャツと短パンでOKだと思います。
運動靴やビーチサンダルは止めておいたほうが良いと思います。ジャングルの中はかなりの泥道で足がぐちゃぐちゃになります。私たちは、お金を払ってツアー会社からスポーツサンダルを借りました。
もちろんガイドさんは全て英語の為英語がわかるほうが楽しめると思います。

Great Activity
Reviewed by: Jessica, 2011/10/22My husband and I were island-hopping on our honeymoon when we participated in the Zipline Safari with Hiking and Kayaking in Kauai. One of our guides said he felt it was his job to make us fall in love with his island, and this tour certainly helped us do that. The price was fair for all of the inclusions of the tour, and the lunch provided was more than enough food. We had never been kayaking, but the river was very smooth and calm, so we were able to keep up and didn't have any issues. The hikes, swimming spots, stories, and "history lessons" were amazing. I have never seen such a beautiful forest. The Zipline was awesome as well and our guides took every safety precaution necessary to make us feel at ease. I would definitely recommend this activity for anyone looking for a more physical adventure. Be sure to wear a bathing suit, sunscreen, and bring hiking sandals or water socks because you should definitely get wet!

Excellent activity

Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2011/07/01This tour gets an enthusiastic YES from me! And my boyfriend agrees. We both had a great time. We are outdoor enthusiasts, so we wanted to stay in nature out and doing activities while here in Hawaii, so this was just right for us.
I like especially how the trip was mixed in that we got to paddle along the river in a kayak, and then mix it up a bit with a nature walk...kept things interesting and allowed different muscles to rest.
Really good time, we both had a lot of fun.

Absolutely Unforgettable
Reviewed by: Steve and Maria, 2011/05/14My wife an I are both empty nesters (read that to mean at or near 50.) We've both been travelers and everywhere we go, we schedule events that expose us to the area we are visiting and the people and history of the area.
This event was so much fun and at no time did we feel anything be valued as being in the care and guidance of Dida and Danny.
You will meet people from all corners of the world. Eat a good low fat breakfast the morning of this event. Water is provided, and take advantage of it.
Our personal thanks to this outfitter for giving us a memory of our visit to Kauai we will never forget.

Although little pricey, but there is no other tour package on the island that can rival the Kipu Safari in terms of excitement. The tour guides are very knowledgeable about the island and extremely friendly. They're also very careful in handling our food. However, for those of you whose ideas of fun includes relaxing and sunbathing at the beach, this trip is not for you. But, if you're interested in little adventures and learnings and don't mind getting wet and muddy, this trip is not be missed.

It had a little of everything...kayaking, hiking, ziplines and cooling off in a stream fed pool. I was a little concerned about our kids, ages 9 and 11, but they handled the kayaking, hiking and ziplining with ease. We thought it was definitely worth the money. The 1800' zip was the best! We would do it again in a heartbeat!

Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2010/05/28My boyfriend and I had a really great time on this adventure. Our favorite part was the ziplining. We wish there were more lines! I'm scared of heights but enjoyed it so much I can't wait to do it again!
The kayaking was nice despite the rain. We saw a few "movie spots" during our ride down the river. Also, saw some really beautiful sceneries.
The hiking was not strenuous but there were a few times where you really had to watch your step. Also, for those very prone to mosquito bites, be sure to put it on! It was pretty windy so the guides said we probably wouldn't have to worry about the mosquitos but I ended up getting bit 6 times before I was able to put some repellant.
Overall, a really great experience. This is a great tour if you want a piece of everything.
