See Diamond Head, Oahu’s most famous volcanic crater and a symbol of Hawaii, as you travel along the coast. The scenic and beautiful drive continues through Kahala, known as the Gold Coast, where you will spot many stunning luxury beachfront homes that are owned by celebrities and business leaders.
Enjoy breathtaking views of Hanauma Bay, a protected marine sanctuary created inside a volcanic crater. From the lookout, you can see the ocean and coral reefs that make this one of Oahu’s most popular sights. While the bay is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, the lookout is open all year for photos.
Discover the Halona Blowhole, a natural wonder where waves crash into a lava tube and shoot high into the air like a geyser. This scenic stop also provides sweeping views of the rugged coastline, making it one of the most dramatic sights on Oahu and a favorite place for unforgettable photos.
Spend time in Waimanalo, a quaint and relaxed community set against the backdrop of the Koolau Mountains. Known for its small farms, nurseries, and welcoming local vibe, this stop highlights the quieter side of Oahu and offers a glimpse of everyday island life away from the busy tourist areas.
Take in breathtaking views from the Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout, where dramatic cliffs tower above Oahu’s lush windward coast. This scenic site was also the location of the Battle of Nuʻuanu, where King Kamehameha I achieved victory and united the Hawaiian Islands, adding deep history to the great views.
From the coastal road you’ll spot Mokoli'i, or Chinaman’s Hat, a small islet linked to Hawaiian legends of dragons and giants. Nearby sits Kualoa Ranch, a 4,000-acre reserve considered sacred land, famous for its steep ridges, lush valleys, and dramatic scenery featured in many films and TV shows.
Take a break at Pounders Restaurant in Hukilau Marketplace, where the menu features fresh island-style dishes made with local ingredients. Choose from seafood, grass-fed beef, vegetarian options, and even a light soup and salad. Guests purchase lunch directly at the restaurant during the stop.
Pass the Laie Hawaii Temple, a striking landmark surrounded by lush tropical gardens and fountains, then continue toward the legendary North Shore. This coastline is famous for its massive winter waves, impressive suffers, golden beaches, and frequent appearances in surf films and TV shows.
Wrap up the day at the Dole Plantation, Hawaii’s signature pineapple experience. Explore the gardens, see unique pineapple varieties, and learn about the history of this fruit. Be sure to try the famous Dole Whip, a pineapple soft serve that has become a must-try favorite for visitors of all ages.
