Upon arrival, we took an official video course before heading to the beach. Since I had already heard the same instructions in Japanese from the guide, I didn't understand the English in the video, but I felt at ease knowing the content.

Once we reached the beach, we practiced snorkeling before the actual event. As I peered into the water, I immediately spotted fish. For about three hours, I followed the guide and moved around Hanauma Bay quite a bit. The snorkeling was so enjoyable that the three hours flew by.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see any honu (turtles) this time, but it felt like I was left with a homework assignment to come back again. I definitely want to return. (^^)

For this snorkeling trip, I rented a wetsuit for an additional fee. The guide introduced it somewhat hesitantly by saying, "It's paid," but it was definitely the right choice to rent it.

There are some very shallow areas where you snorkel. During the waves, my body almost hit the shallow coral, which is actually not allowed, but it happened. I was told that this could potentially injure your skin. Even if you're careful, you never know what might happen.

I thought it would be better to splurge a little and rent the wetsuit so that it wouldn't affect my plans later on. Plus, wearing a wetsuit helps you float, so there's no worry about drowning. I highly recommend it.

On the way back, the kind guide also dropped us off, and I was able to enjoy the tour very comfortably. Thank you very much! (^^)

現地ではオフィシャルなビデオ講習を受け、浜に向かいます。事前にガイドさんから日本語で同じ内容の注意事項を聞いていたので、ビデオの英語はわかりませんでしたが、中身はわかっているので安心。
浜へ降り立ち、実際にシュノーケリングの練習をしてから、本番へ。
海中を覗くと、すぐにお魚が。
３時間くらい、ガイドさんの後を追ってハナウマ湾内を結構動いたようです。シュノーケリングが楽しくてあっという間の３時間でした。
今回は残念ながらホヌ(カメさん)には会えませんでしたが、また来れるよう宿題を残していただいた感じです。また来たい。(^^)
今回のシュノーケリングでは
ウェットスーツを別料金でお借りしました。
ガイドさんから「有料なので」と遠慮がちに紹介されていましたが、借りて正解でした。
シュノーケリングで動く所は一部とても浅い場所があります。引き波の時に体が浅瀬のサンゴに当たりそうになる、というか、本当はダメなのですが当たってしまいました。その際に皮膚を傷つける事があるとの事でした。
気を付けていても何があるかわからない。
少し奮発してお借りした方が、後の旅程に響かず安心かなぁと。さらに、ウェットスーツを着ると浮くので、溺れる心配が内容です。尚更おすすめです。
帰りも優しいガイドさんに送っていただき、大変気持ちよくツアーを楽しむことができました。

I had seen beautiful scenery of Kailua and Lanikai Beach on various websites and had been determined to visit them on my next trip to Hawaii.

Being able to move around freely at our own pace allowed us to relax in our favorite spots. One of our goals was to hike to the Lanikai Pillbox, but my wife found it too difficult, so we decided to give up halfway. However, we were able to enjoy a leisurely time at Kailua Beach, where they lent us beach chairs and dry bags for free. The pizza we had for lunch at Bob's Pizzeria was also very delicious, and we were completely satisfied.

Next time, I will make sure my wife is fully equipped and we will tackle the Pillbox!

Scott is a very calm and encouraging person, my wife held on to the float and with the life vest had no worries about sinking. Sure the water was murky today, yet we saw fish, and held a starfish, a sea cucumber, and an urchin. Way cool!

I was recommended Hanauma Bay as a great spot in Hawaii by a friend, but I learned that reservations are required for entry. Since I can't drive, I was looking for an all-inclusive plan and found this tour.

We gathered in front of the hotel early in the morning (5:45 AM) and watched the sunrise until our reservation time for Hanauma Bay (6:30 AM). This activity does not require a reservation for entry to Hanauma Bay, but you need to purchase tickets on-site, and you have to wait in line until it's time. I felt that time was a bit wasted, but I guess that's what you get for a cheap tour. One participant in the same tour kindly purchased tickets for everyone at the counter. Of course, we all lined up together.

If the tour included the ticket price, I suppose there wouldn't be any need to wait in line? I saw some people entering without waiting. Since everything was explained in English, there were some things I didn't understand. I heard there are lockers available, but I think it's better to take valuables to the beach. 効率よく、安心してツアーに参加したいのであれば、少し高くても日本人スタッフが案内してくれるハナウマ湾シュノーケルに参加した方がいいと思います。

We were able to enjoy ourselves thoroughly until the meeting time of 12:30 thanks to the early morning pickup. Timely service is great!
For meals, only before going down to the beach, card payments are accepted. The BIG hot dog was $11, and we were able to share it between two people. The fish is larger and there are many more varieties compared to before the pandemic!

I felt secure participating in the tour thanks to the Japanese guides, Chieko and Dan. We were able to enter without waiting in line, which was stress-free thanks to their arrangements.

The snorkeling lasted about an hour in Hanauma Bay, where we could see many tropical fish, and they provided guidance on what to look for, making it efficient considering the physical exertion. We were lucky to see a Hawaiian monk seal napping on the beach. It would have been great to see a honu as well. Near the entrance to the bay, we also spotted a mongoose.

The swim suit is optional, but I was glad I rented one. The water was unexpectedly cold, and during snorkeling, I bumped my stomach against a rock; if I hadn't been wearing it, I might have gotten injured.

It's reassuring that even small children or those who may have concerns about their stamina can retire midway and return to shore.

We swam from one end of the bay to the other. Even in August, the sea is a bit cold, so I borrowed a wetsuit to avoid getting hurt by the coral. Hanauma Bay can be accessed by rental car or trolley, but there is a limit on the number of people allowed in the bay (reservations are required), so for those who prefer convenience, booking through Veltra is a good option. While there were fewer corals compared to the islands of Okinawa, since I went in the morning, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of fish and the number of larger fish. Although it was an early morning tour, there were initially few people (the seawater was a bit cold at first), and the morning-only tour was more than enough to enjoy.

I stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, and the meeting point was at the valet area (hotel entrance) of the neighboring Ilikai Hotel, which was accommodating in English, and there were no issues at all (there was hardly any conversation). ヒルトンビーチリゾートに宿泊していましたが、集合場所はとなりのホテルのイリカイホテルのバレットエリア（ホテルの入口）で、英語対応でしたが全く問題ありませんでした（ほぼ会話する事がない）。因みに一緒に行った人たちはドイツ、ブラジル、アジアの人。逆に英語のわかる人が代表で対応してくれました。ハナウマ湾の中は自由行動。貴重品用のロッカーありとのことでしたが使用しませんでした（家族の順番で海に入って対応）。飲み物は必要かも（軽食程度も）。日焼け止めは種類に規制があるのでご注意を。シュノーケルは足ひれ含めて貸してくれましたが、このご時世我々はシュノーケルのみ持参しました。帰りの集合時間まで十分に堪能して、朝の集合場所まで車で送ってくれました。午後は少し休憩後にショッピングなどに。初めてだったのでハナウマ湾行ってよかったです！

This is our 2nd time to vacation in Oahu and visited Hanauma both times. Our 2nd trip we decided to book an organized tour because our first experience wasn't too great. This tour was absolutely incredible! Can't say enough positive things about it but here we go:

1) The guide showed up to our hotel early which is so refreshing
2) He was super knowledgeable, kind and enjoyable to be around
3) Before the snorkeling tour, he was amazing with sharing information about how to do it and what to expect
4) They had the nicest and softest mask and fins equipment I've ever received on a snorkeling tour
5) The hour long tour was amazing and we saw tons of fish and even a turtle
6) He provided snacks and water afterwards
7) He patiently got us back to our hotel and just truly blew us away.

Very highly recommended!

We also rented prescription masks, and both my child, who has poor eyesight, and I were able to enjoy watching cute fish (we even saw schools of fish!) and turtles without feeling cold.

I suddenly became scared of the ocean after not snorkeling for a while and couldn't swim at first, but the instructor, Chieko, kindly held my hand and helped me swim. Another instructor, Dan, also gave gentle advice! As a professional, he took us around to spots where we could see fish. Dan also provided various guidance in Japanese during the car transfer.

In the end, it cost quite a bit, but it was definitely worth the money! We made wonderful memories of Hawaii! Thank you very much!

I participated in a snorkeling tour. It started with being picked up at the hotel, and everything went smoothly, allowing me to enjoy snorkeling at Hanauma Bay comfortably.

There were about 10 participants, and having two guides who spoke Japanese made me feel at ease.

This was my first time participating in seven years, and this time I brought my children aged 2, 5, and 9. The parasol we rented couldn't be used due to strong winds. Well, that was the same as seven years ago.

I really wanted my 9-year-old son to succeed at snorkeling, but he got scared and gave up.

I think the shuttle service was around $45 seven years ago, but now the price is almost double.

Overall, I felt it wasn't suitable for families with small children, but since this is our family's situation, I will give it 4 stars.

Cons: Location wasn’t too clear, better signage in the future would be great.

Buoyant donut was too small for the amount or people, so lots of bumping and kicking, including from the trainer. A bigger float donut would be perfect.

Water was murky, but not much can be done about that. Maybe a heads up from the diver if they have an indication of the water condition before hand would help.

Pros: Diver was great in making sure that we got to see a few fish. He also dove down to grab some of the water life and we got a chance to hold them in our hands.

We brought our own snorkel and mouth piece, and diver was very helpful in making sure it was secure to their masks.

Diver was very knowledgeable and got us checked out with our photos and videos in hand very quickly.

Definitely recommend this for super beginners!
