Our tour guide (Shawn) was VERY informative and passionate about telling us the history and sacredness of Waipio Valley, the Valley of the Kings. We had such a great time! My 7yr old (who doesn’t like to sit still) enjoyed this tour immensely! Especially trying to find the prawns in the stream. Would definitely do this again!
Highly recommend! The tour guide provided details and history of the region, with various stops along the way for us to soak in the beauty of the valley!

The stars and sunset were amazing! I've never seen such a beautiful starry sky! As expected, it was a precious experience that can only be had on the Big Island of Hawaii! The sandwiches and hot chocolate were delicious. However, the cold was intense (^｡^) They took photos with a DSLR during the sunset, but it was very disappointing that none of them were downloaded.

My husband and I really enjoyed our ride down into the valley. We learned a great deal of history from our guide as well as trivia like the fact they used Waipio Valley as the "Dry Land" in the movie Waterworld.

On the day of the event, the weather was clear, and I was able to see the best views of the sunset and the starry sky in my life. The guide was very polite and kind, and spoke to us while mixing in some Japanese. They took even more photos than I expected, making it a fantastic experience.

It was great that our driver and tour guide, Kouki, explained everything in both Japanese and English. At the visitor center, it was unexpected that we might not be able to reach the summit due to the fog, but I was happy that we were able to pass through safely.
The sunset view from the summit was incredibly beautiful, and it was moving to witness the moment the sun went down. After descending a bit from the summit, we enjoyed stargazing. The sky was a mix of clouds and clear patches, but the starry sky when there were no clouds was stunning. The guide also explained the constellations, allowing us to have a fulfilling time.
Lastly, sharing the photos taken at the summit with the sunset and the ones with the starry sky in the background (which the guide took with a proper camera) became wonderful memories of this trip!

I participated with my son and wife. They picked us up at the hotel at 2:20 PM. There were two other Americans from Minnesota joining the tour, making a total of five participants. Our guide, James, explained about the Big Island in a mix of Japanese and English while driving. The area near the summit of Mauna Kea felt like a different world, resembling a desert or the moon, and the sunset view from there was amazing. We could see famous facilities like the Subaru Telescope up close, which made me feel the reality of being on the Big Island. Unfortunately, due to being close to a full moon, we couldn't see the Milky Way well during stargazing, but we were able to use the telescope to view Jupiter and the moon. James was always attentive, which made me feel safe participating.
