I've always wanted to visit the summit of Mauna Kea. I felt reassured with a wonderful guide who spoke Japanese. However, there were many participants, and the van was quite cramped. The sandwich we had at the summit was extremely delicious. Since it's over 4,000 meters high, the oxygen was thin, and I felt a bit lightheaded.

The guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. It was a fulfilling day. It was really good. However, all the participants were Americans, and perhaps because they all had knowledge about Hawaii, the topics discussed were quite difficult. Things like how to buy land and rumors about Captain Cook. If you have prior knowledge and are fluent in English, it would be very enjoyable, but if your level is just average, you might feel a bit left out.

A few years ago, I had high expectations for the night sky I saw from the mid-mountain, but I was a bit disappointed this time. While it’s less affected by clouds, the surrounding lights seemed to interfere, and I didn't feel that much awe. Considering the cost-performance, I think a mid-mountain tour might be sufficient. However, this is a tour you can't miss if you want to experience 4,000 meters.

Despite my worries before going, it was the best experience, and I was very satisfied with the views. The sunset over the sea of clouds at an altitude of over 4000 meters brought me to tears. After the sun set, I forgot the cold while marveling at the starry sky, which was truly breathtaking. The guide primarily spoke English, but they did their best to communicate in my limited Japanese and took great care in preventing altitude sickness, which made me very happy as well.

The stars and sunset were amazing! I've never seen such a beautiful starry sky! As expected, it was a precious experience that can only be had on the Big Island of Hawaii! The sandwiches and hot chocolate were delicious. However, the cold was intense (^｡^) They took photos with a DSLR during the sunset, but it was very disappointing that none of them were downloaded.

The guide was very kind, and there were many services that weren't mentioned when I signed up! In cold areas, they lent us windbreakers and jackets, and they also checked our meal preferences in advance and placed orders for us. There were several occasions where they provided Hawaiian juice and bottled water as well.

I mainly signed up for the volcano tour, but they also drove us around to other places while giving detailed explanations the whole time. The guide was English-speaking, but they spoke to us in the Japanese they had learned, which made it feel very homey and enjoyable.

My kids challenged themselves to speak in English, and the guide responded kindly, which made me very happy as a parent to see their growth during this tour. The weather was great, we got to see sea turtles, and we witnessed both daytime and nighttime lava flows. Additionally, we were able to observe an incredible number of stars in the night sky that I had never seen before. It was an unexpectedly amazing tour filled with good luck!
