Big Island
I participated in this tour during my stay on the Big Island. It's a rich tour that includes travel time and acclimatization to the altitude.
The sunset from the summit of Mauna Kea was truly beautiful, with the view of the sun sinking into the sea of clouds, creating a memory for a lifetime. It offers a different kind of emotion compared to sunsets over the ocean. They provide down jackets for warmth, which is reassuring.
During the stargazing, although the moon was out and the conditions weren't as ideal as during a new moon, I was still able to see the Milky Way, numerous constellations, and even shooting stars up close, which was moving. The guides were split into two groups, and it was great that we could listen to explanations in Japanese. However, the English guide's explanations seemed deeper and more interesting, so knowing English might enhance the experience even more.
Towards the end, you can take incredibly clear commemorative photos with the Milky Way in the background. The return home is close to 10 PM, so it does take a toll on your stamina, but this tour is worth much more than that.

The kayaking and snorkeling trip was one of our favorite activities on our vacation. My family group included 2 adults and 2 older teens, and we joined two others to make a small tour group of six. Our guide, Ryan, was interesting, enthusiastic, and accommodating. He took our teens cliff jumping and shared interesting facts about the area and history of that part of the island. We didn’t get to see any turtles or dolphins on this particular trip, but we still enjoyed the scenery, the kayaking, and the snorkeling time. As a highlight of my trip to the Big Island, I participated in the Mauna Kea stargazing tour.
I boarded a shuttle bus from the Queens MarketPlace in Waikoloa and headed to the summit of Mauna Kea, which stands at an elevation of 4,205 meters.
Upon arriving at the summit, I was greeted by a breathtaking view of the sunset sinking below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. I was left speechless.
As the sun set, the surroundings became pitch dark, revealing a sky full of stars.
