Great hike! Beautiful Landscape!

Reviewed by: DK2015, 2015/03/05

Our guide, Greg was great! Very informative and engaging! This was a beautiful hike, lots of plants and birds to look at and listen to on the way to and from the falls. On the afternoon that I went there was almost no water going over the falls, just drips running down the cliff face. It was still a beautiful hike and well worth the effort. The walking sticks provided by the guide become invaluable on the way back from the falls while navigating some slick mud and tricky terrain.

Great Fun

Reviewed by: Gabz, 2015/01/08

This was one of my best experiences in Hawaii. It was such an informative and interesting hike but not too difficult in terms of steepness and length. Would highly recommend to huge 'Lost' fans as you can see various locations that were used in the filming, as well as parts from 'Jurassic Park' and 'Hunger Games'.

Wonderful

Reviewed by: Roxanne, 2014/09/13

First off, the guide Greg was amazing. On the pick/up he did a nice history of the island and of Manoa Valley. He was very considerate of all of the attendees. He offered to take pictures of everyone and seemed to really want to get to know everyone. He was easy to talk to. The hike was really good. Not to hard, but not super easy. Once we arrived at the falls, we were able to take the time to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Would recommend this hike again.

Loved the hike to the Waterfall!

Reviewed by: Debbie, 2014/07/23

Absolutely enjoyed the hike and waterfall. Bethany was very informative on the hike up and down the trail. She gave us all kinds of information tidbits about the plants, trees, where the films were filmed, and let us stop and take pictures of everything. She will take pictures of your group or family if you wish. The tropical rain forest was beyond what I thought it would be like. I wish the whole area could be my backyard. I would recommend this hike, but make sure you wear old shoes with some traction. It rained hard the day before we went, and was a little slippery. They do give you a hiking stick which helped a lot. They also gave us bug spray, and you will need it.

  • Look at the size of the roots of this tree!

Great tour however a bit overpriced for a 20 minute ride and a walk thru the woods. A fair value for that activity would be $25. Excellent tour guide Brien who was very knowledgable of the valley.

Great little hike and information session

Reviewed by: Alex S, 2014/06/02

This is a nice little hike that took about 4 hours from pick up to drop off. Our tour guide was very nice, informative and helpful (bug spray and walking sticks). You start with a pick up in a van at your hotel location, then you travel up into the hills and park. From there you hike into the lush beautiful forest and at the end come to a nice little waterfall. During this whole time there the guide is educating you on history of the islands and the area.

Things to consider: This is an open trail so you will not be alone. Bring bug spray! Wear appropriate shoes, pants and gear. Bring a small umbrella or poncho.

Overall I would recommend.

Manoa Waterfall Hiking Adventure

If you love nature and exercise, this is one of the activities that you cannot miss in Oahu. Our guide, Mike, is very friendly and know where to stop for a nice photo shot. Be aware the hike may be very muddy. Good that there's a hose for you to hose down mud & dirt at the end of the hike. It's better to wear shorts for the hike as it's no fun to wear a pair of soaking wet long pants after hosing down the mud. I would recommend this hiking tour to my friends.

This is my 3rd time to hawaii. I have been on one hike, but it wasnt as AWSOME as this one. First off, i was worried my 7 year old would get tired, he didnt. He survived the whole hike. Our Tour guide was really nice and explained alot of the natures around us. When we got to the highlight of our hike, it was UNbelievable. The waterfall was amazing and well worth the muddy, wet hike. Althought it rained on us on the way back, it was so HOT out- it didnt matter. this trip was so well WORTH it. I would do it again.

Pretty but didn't need guide.

Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2009/07/12

The Manoa falls really depend upon the time of the year and rainfall level to see if it's a fall or a trickle. The hike was nice enough, although towards the end, it became quite steep and somewhat slippery. I was a little worried as I took a 7 year old, but somehow, no-one fell. I don't know if it was exactly my idea of a rain forest, as the flora is not really that diverse, nor are there any exotic birds or wildlife. It could easily be handled without a guide, I am not that sure that our guide added that much to the hike. It is a public park, so there is no entrance fee or anything. You could probably drive yourself and take your time on the hike. We, however, going with a group walked at quite a steady pace.

We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide was Stan, he was very knowledgeable about the species we found on the way to the falls, he was entertaining and fan to be with, he made our trip really enjoyable. Even though there wasn't a lot of water on the falls the trip is well worth your money. He also recommended us the best Thai food restaurant in Waikiki. Thanks Stan!.

Great Hike

Reviewed by: Lisa B, 2008/11/17

This was a terrific hike, however I really wouldn't recommend for young children. There were some pretty big steps and places you had to find your way as the step up was 24 inches or better and with rain, the path can be pretty muddy and slippery. Good shoes are important. Trail is narrow in places and someone has to step off to the side if there are people going both directions. Lots of breathtaking plants and flowers to see. Since the falls are rain fed, their size is completely dependent on the rain. If it hasn't for a while, you may only see a wet wall where the falls are.
