The horses seemed well-trained; they moved forward on their own when the horse in front did. In Haleiwa, I was dropped off at my desired location, so I could easily go to the shops I wanted to visit!

We were picked up at 3 PM for Haleakalā. Despite the temperature being 29°C, we gathered with warm clothing. The car set off towards Haleakalā, taking breaks for altitude acclimatization. At 1000 meters, we stopped at a supermarket to prepare dinner. At 2000 meters, we took a bathroom break and captured photos of avocado trees.

We reached the 3000-meter mark, but some participants felt the air was thin. At 6 PM, our guide, Mr. Yamauchi, treated us to various poke ingredients and rice, which we enjoyed as poke bowls in the car. Once it got dark, we had a stargazing session. Despite bringing a down coat, it was still cold, and I was surprised that my hands became numb.

We returned to the hotel around 10:30 PM, and I am grateful to Mr. Yamauchi for being talented, attentive, and smooth in conversation, keeping tourists, including children, engaged for over half a day.

ホテルへ帰ってきたのは22時半ころであったが、それにしても添乗員ヤマウチさんは多才で気が利いて、話が滑らかで子供を含めた観光客を半日以上もずっと飽きさせないで案内してくれたことには感謝している。

I participated in this tour for my honeymoon. There were about 20 participants, mostly from English-speaking countries, and many appeared to be older. At the meeting point, there were several tours departing for the same destination at the same time, so it was necessary to look for the bus I was supposed to board.

The explanations and guidance during the tour were only in English. However, the guide, Marlon, could also speak Japanese and often reached out to us. It was possible to ask simple questions individually.

The public restroom at the photo stop was not very clean, so I recommend using the bus restroom instead. The time spent at Byodoin Temple, the macadamia shop, and the Dole Plantation was just right. In North Shore, I was aiming for the Patagonia and Snoopy shops, as well as Matsumoto Shave Ice. The lunch portion was quite large, which took some time to eat, so we had to hurry a bit, but we managed to see everything. I recommend checking in advance the crowd levels and portion sizes for lunch. 平等院、マカダミアのショップやドールプランテーションは程良い滞在時間でした。ノースショアではパタゴニアとスヌーピーのショップ、マツモトシェイブアイスが目当てでした。お昼ご飯の量が多かったため食べるのに時間が掛かってしまい、少し急ぎめにはなりましたが、回り切ることができました。お昼ご飯は混み具合や提供される量を予め下調べしておくのがお勧めです。マツモトシェイブアイスは、器からこぼれない程度なら車内で食べても大丈夫とのことで、最後に購入して残りを車内で食べました。大体10分程度の待ち時間でした。
車窓からの眺めもとてもキレイでホノルルとは違った風景が楽しめました。

I requested a pickup for my return. They kindly communicated the pickup location and time. Just to be sure, I confirmed with the hotel staff. If you have prior knowledge and are fluent in English, it would be very enjoyable, but if your level is just average, you might feel a bit left out.

Our guide Lola was very friendly, and it was the best tour! Since it was an English-only tour, we were a bit worried about our ability to keep up with just everyday conversation. However, Lola, although she hardly spoke any Japanese, spoke slowly and clearly, making it easy to understand, and we had a great conversation.

She also guided us through the buildings and areas along the way, which was fun.

I thought Dole might be somewhat underwhelming, but it was actually very spacious and we enjoyed it a lot. The souvenir section is really large. Haleiwa had a completely different atmosphere from Waikiki, which was refreshing. There were so many places to eat that it was hard to choose, but the garlic shrimp was very delicious. We gave up on the long lines for shave ice and huli huli chicken. Instead, we went to Ali Beach and were thrilled to encounter a honu drying its shell!

英語のみのツアーということで、日常会話程度ならなんとか…というレベルの我々は大丈夫かなと少し心配しながら参加しました。

シェイブアイス、フリフリチキンは列が長かったので断念。

When you think of Hawaii, you think of the trolley while feeling the breeze. You can enjoy it just by riding along without doing anything, and I believe this is more of an attraction than just a means of transportation.

It's helpful that they sell tickets separately without going through His, but since the pandemic, the discount tricks are no longer available, and it's too expensive, so I reduced my rating. However, you could say it's lucky that it's less crowded than before.

Be careful as the railings are so open that you might drop something. Hats can fly off, and depending on the driver, they might start moving before everyone is seated, and some drivers have rough driving styles. This is not Japan. Everyone should be cautious and take responsibility for themselves, as you shouldn't ride with a Japanese mindset.

Because of this, infants and toddlers can only sit in priority seats that are covered by railings (it feels scary to sit anywhere else). そのため幼児や赤子は柵が覆われた優先席しか乗れません(怖くてそこじゃないとという感じ)
始発からだと係員に優先席を案内してもらえるのですが、郊外などからのる場合、
空いてなければ自分から積極的に優先席を開けて欲しいと、声をかけましょう。
ドライバーも、それを説明するほどの日本語力がない方が多いので。

My husband and I had a tour with James through Hawaiian Eyes Tours and absolutely loved it!! The sunset was beautiful and the star gazing was such an eye opening experience! James was very knowledgeable about the sights and Hawaiian culture. Highly recommend!
