When I got into the shuttle car, I wasn't sure if we would be able to see the sunset, but I was told that we could still climb to the summit. We ascended to the Onitsuka Center as planned, and while we were eating our lunch, the situation changed. Due to bad weather, the gate beyond that point was closed, and we were informed that we couldn't go to the summit today. Indeed, the fog was thick, and the visibility was poor, making it look dangerous for an amateur to drive any further. We received a rain check, a re-participation ticket valid for two years, but since it's not easy for us to come back, I thought it would have been nice if we could get about half of our money back...

送迎の車に乗った時には、夕日が見えるかどうかはわからないが、一応山頂までは登っていけるとのことでした。予定通りにオニツカセンターまで登り、お弁当を食べている間に状況が変わりました。悪天候のため、そこから先のゲートがクローズされ、本日は山頂に行けないとのことでした。たしかにガスがかかって視界が悪く、この先を運転していくのは素人目に見ても危険な感じでした。残念でしたが、そこからは運転手兼ツアーガイドのオリジナルプランへの変更されました。夕日の見えるところを目指し、その後の星空観測を辞退する方をホテルに送り、大変そうでした。とにかく移動距離が長いので、車のスピードが速く、なれない我々には多少怖い感じがしました。が、そこは毎日運転していて大丈夫なのでしょう、道も広く、直線が多いので、とくに危ない目にも会わず無事にホテルまで帰ってくることができました。山頂まで登れなかったのは非常に残念でした。レインチェックという、2年間有効の再参加チケットをもらいましたが、なかなか来れないので、半額位返ってくるとよかったのになぁ。。。。って思いました。

My son and I just did the 90 minute scenic tour. It was his first time and it was absolutely fantastic! The whole trail was very smooth and the view was breathtaking like no other. Our wranglers were very knowledgeable about the trail and very attentive. My son who is 8 absolutely enjoyed the ride and had no problem riding this trail. Definitely a ‘must activity’ at Gunstock Ranch!

It was my first time horseback riding for 2 hours, but the staff was kind and taught me well, so I had a great time on the movie course! I think it would be twice as fun for those who have seen the movie, haha. Since I hadn't watched it much, I felt a bit confused even when they explained things.

I boarded the bus from the Sheraton bus stop, but the bus was about 15 minutes late, and I was quite worried that I might have missed it.

We also stopped at a donut shop, a local supermarket, and a souvenir shop at a farm, so we enjoyed shopping as well. In late March, my family of four participated in the Mauna Kea Summit Sunset & Stargazing Tour. The 13-seater bus was fully booked with Japanese tourists. The ride to the Onizuka Visitor Center was smooth along the paved road. At the visitor center, we had a bento box and miso soup, put on our warm clothing, and then ascended the unpaved road all the way up to 4,200 meters. The summit was very cold, and the wind exceeded 20 meters per second. The landscape resembled Mars, providing an experience that you can't have in Japan. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't favorable, and we couldn't enjoy a clear starry sky, but our guide, Mr. Kono, searched various spots to show us the stars. We later revisited Mauna Kea State Park on another day with a rental car. That time, we were blessed with clear skies and were able to enjoy a number of stars that can't be seen in Japan. Thank you very much, Mr. Kono, for everything.

It takes about two hours to get to Gunstock Ranch by taking The Bus number 55 from Ala Moana. After passing by Kualoa Ranch, you will find Gunstock Ranch further ahead. There is only a sign along the road, so I almost missed the bus stop at Kamehameha Hwy + Opp 56-155. After getting off the bus and walking down the road marked by the sign, I arrived at Gunstock Ranch, where I could hear cheerful voices from a children's swimming class.

I arrived quite a bit earlier than the check-in time, so I spent some time playing with the horses and goats. After listening to the safety instructions, I decided not to wear a helmet and signed a separate waiver form. About 30 minutes into the horseback riding, we reached a hill where we could see the surrounding scenery, and Grace and Chad, who guided us, took some photos for us. The staff were very friendly and helped my mother, who doesn't understand English at all and is inexperienced with horseback riding, feel comfortable. 受付時間よりだいぶ早く着いてしまったので、馬やヤギと戯れながら時間を潰し、注意事項などを聞いて、私はヘルメットをかぶらないことにしたので、別途既定の用紙へサインをしました。乗馬を開始すること30分、あたりの景色を一望出来る丘の上にたどり着き、案内をしてくれたGraceとChadに写真を撮ってもらいました。とっても気さくなスタッフの方々で、英語が全くわからず乗馬にも不慣れな私の母をしっかりとリードしてくれました。ジャングルのような木々に覆われた道をとてもフレンドリーな馬と進む、普段味わえない充実した2時間を過ごすことができました。またぜひ訪れたいと思います。

It was my first time riding a horse, but the horse was very calm, and even beginners could enjoy it. The riding course along the coast had beautiful scenery, and I was very satisfied.

The only disappointing part was the guide. Although he was a Japanese person who had lived in Hawaii for a long time, he forgot our group during the hotel pickup that morning and left without us. We had to call the hotel we were staying at, and finally, he came back to pick us up. However, his apology felt insincere, and he seemed to have no bad intentions, which made us feel bad for the other tour guests who were with us. That was the only disappointing part.

Mauna Kea was closed due to bad weather, so unfortunately, I couldn't reach the summit, but I was satisfied with the beautiful sunset along the beach and the starry sky afterward. The fact that they take care of the braking for you really makes the experience easy to sit back (lean back, fly, go upside down) and enjoy the ride! There are a few steep climbs that most folks will manage but if you have elderly people in the group it might be a bit much for them. I want to go back and do their ATV adventure next! Warning: Conor might take some selfies with your camera ;) but they do take their own pictures of you along the way and they were really great so we purchased them at the gift shop afterwards.

We climbed slowly to the summit while taking breaks, so we were able to reach the top without any issues. I enjoyed listening to the guide's fun stories and personal anecdotes, and I had a wonderful time. The members I was with were also fun and had great energy, making the car ride enjoyable. We signed up for a one-and-a-half-hour plan for beginners as a family. We drove to the ranch with a rental car. The sign is simple and easy to overlook. Since it's a one-way road, it’s difficult to make a U-turn if you miss it. In March, it was a bit chilly, and the weather was partly cloudy. When we mentioned our reservation name, they provided us with helmets, jumpers, and a waist pouch for valuables (free of charge). After a brief lesson on how to use the reins, we set off immediately under the guidance of the instructor. The highlands offered a refreshing feeling with a 360-degree view. If the weather had been good, we might have been able to see the ocean, but unfortunately, it was cloudy and obscured. The horses were calm and moved slowly while grazing along the way, so I think even beginners can participate with confidence. While Kualoa Ranch on Oahu is nice, the spacious grasslands are unique to the Big Island.

This was my second time skydiving, and it was just as amazing as the first! Since I knew what to expect, I felt a bit more excitement than during my first jump. On the day of the jump, the weather was bad in the morning, with a downpour and it was cold, but after waiting, we were able to jump. While ascending in the helicopter, I saw a big rainbow, and it made the rain worth it. It was a really great experience! I was completely fine during my first jump, but this time I felt a bit nauseous, so I wished I had brought some motion sickness medication.

どうやるか分かってる為、ドキドキ感は1回目よりあった気がきます。
当日朝天気が悪く、スコールが降り寒かったのですが、待ちに待って、飛ぶ事ができました。
