Guided Stargazing Tour Led by NASA Ambassador Astronomer [Ko Olina]
Overall Rating
4.93Best Stargazing on Earth!
Reviewed by: MarNi06, 2023/05/02We headed over to Ko Olina and drove to the main entrance of the Four Seasons Resort. Parking was valet so be sure to bring extra cash, which was $20 plus tip. The stargazing is located on the top floor of the spa building at the tennis courts.
Our guide Greg was very knowledgable and gave interesting tidbits about how the Hawaiians used the stars both in their folklore and in their navigation. The stars are quite beautiful in Hawaii so we were glad to have been able to do stargazing here.
Some of the most unique stargazing can only be done in the islands, so this was well worth doing for us!

Stars Above Hawaii Experience
Reviewed by: Allan, 2023/04/08The Stargazing activity was fun and educational.
This was my third visit to Hawaii but my first time in Ko Olina. Our stargazing took place on the top level of The Four Seasons Tennis Court.
My girlfriend's daughter enjoys astronomy and she was excited every opportunity to see through the telescope.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and funny. I highly recommend this experience.

Reviewed by: Margaret Q-Atkins, 2022/10/23Do not miss this opportunity to gaze into the Universe— it is transporting and transformative! Greg was incredibly knowledgeable and kind— such a perfect guide to take with you on this life changing experience! His passion is palpable and his astronomical equipment is out of this world— pun intended! ;). We have told everyone about this awesome activity and will absolutely be back to a Hawaii and back to see Greg, the craters on the moon, the rings of Saturn, and the moons of Jupiter! Thank you Stars Above Hawaii for creating such a special night for us!

Nice evening with the kids
Reviewed by: RMAN, 2022/09/01My family had a lovely time together as we looked for a low-key activity in the evening after busy days in the sun. For our session, it was cool to meet at the rooftop tennis courts and not too hard to find. We saw a variety of stars, the moon close-up, and even Saturn. Our group was larger than I expected but anyone could ask questions throughout the experience. I'd love more stories or information to be shared throughout, but again it was an easy, light-hearted, and informative night. Also, we didn't want to commit to one of the long star-gazing activities especially on the other islands because it wouldn't work well with the different ages in our group so this was shorter and manageable.

So cool!
Reviewed by: Pat, 2019/08/30We had a great time on our adventure across the galaxy and would highly recommend! Our favorite part was seeing the rings of Saturn from different angles and even seeing one star that had exploded 60,000 years ago and you can still see it exploding to this day

Amazing Stargazing Presentation
Reviewed by: ALQ, 2019/07/20We arrived at the scheduled time and greeted by our NASA ambassador, astronomer, Greg.
He was so enthusiastic and pointed so many amazing things to see in the night sky. My favorite was seeing Saturn! The GPS telescope was very impressive.
It was a beautiful location to learn about the stars, planets, and our solar galaxy as the sun went down over the horizon.
We will be back!

Best stargazing on O'ahu
Reviewed by: Björn, 2019/07/13If you're in Hawaii and not heading up Haleakala or Mauna Loa, this is the best stargazing experience you can get (in my still limited experience). Greg took us through the solar system and out into the Milky Way, showing evergreens like Jupiter and Saturn together with more exotic objects like supernova remnants and binary stars (including a spectacular yellow and blue pair). Great!
We attended the 21:00 show in mid-July - dark enough, although the almost full moon did make things complicated when objects got a bit close to it. On the flip side though, getting to take pictures of that moon with your phone through the telescope lens at the end provides a great souvenir! Our seven year-old also really enjoyed the show.

Interesting & beautiful experience!
Reviewed by: Hyun Kyung Lee, 2019/06/20I enjoyed this event very much because of the beautiful view and interesting stories about the stars. At about 8 to 8:30 pm, the sky was getting darker and darker. I was able to many stars in the sky with my naked eyes. However, if your eyesight is not very good, I recommend you bring your glasses or wear contacts. I was able to see the cluster of stars, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and more through the telescope. I really liked it, especially because it is such a rare opportunity to observe the stars through telescopes.

Amazing star show
Reviewed by: Mr.Anonymous, 2018/09/10Greg was such a great guide, he knew a lot about the stars and different myths relating to them. He pointed out constellations and heavenly bodies throughout the night and told us about how stars played a role in Hawaiian, Asian, and European societies. You can see so many stars out there compared to the city, and the high-tech telescope got us some amazingly close views of Saturn and a nebula. This is an awe-inspiring experience!
Mahalo! Happy to hear you enjoyed the star show!
