Your Guide to Oahu ATV Tours & Activities
All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) off-road tours are located throughout the island of Oahu, and there are a number of different options for all ages and experience levels. Depending on your choice of tour, you can go on a traditional solo ATV rental or on a multi-passenger Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) for up to five people.

What to Expect & Know Before You Go
  • Wear secure closed-toe shoes, and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty since the Oahu ATV trails are often dusty or muddy.
  • Bring a change of clothes and shoes with you so you can change into a clean outfit once you are done with your tour.
  • ATV tours are some of the most popular activities on Oahu, and are often sold out weeks ahead. Be sure to book in advance to secure your reservation.
  • Don’t forget to bring a bottle of water with you. It can be quite warm out on the ATV trail, and you will want to have water with you.
  • Keep in mind that these fun and exciting Oahu ATV tours go over off-road trails so bring your sense of adventure with you.

About the Location
Oahu ATV rental and tours are located in a variety of spots throughout the island, and no matter which one you choose, the views and experiences will be amazing. You can visit the famous movie site locations at the Kualoa Ranch Jurassic Valley, explore private trails on Oahu’s North Shore and learn about history and culture, or go over a ruggedly designed off-road course at a west side adventure park.

Oahu ATV Tour Essentials

What is included in Oahu ATV tours?
Most Oahu ATV tours include the ATV vehicle (single-rider or 2-passenger side-by-side), helmet and safety briefing, guided trail ride, and use of common areas at the operator site. Hotel pickup from Waikiki adds 2 to 3 hours total but is standard on most North Shore departures. Sites usually do not include lunch unless specifically labeled a combo or full-day package. Photography is offered as an add-on at most operators.
How long is an Oahu ATV tour?
Most ATV tours run 1.5 to 3 hours of actual riding time. Total time including hotel pickup from Waikiki, transfer to the ranch or park, briefing, and return runs 4 to 6 hours. Combo packages with zipline or snorkel add 2 to 3 hours. The shortest single-activity option is the 90-minute Kualoa Ranch Jurassic Jungle Expedition. The longest single-activity is the 3-Hour Deluxe Kualoa Ranch ATV Adventure.
Oahu ATV tour pricing & costs
Group ATV tours start around $130 per rider for a 90-minute ride. Two- to three-hour tours run $150 to $220. Combo packages adding zipline, snorkel cruise, or aerial challenge courses range from $200 to over $300 per person. Tours with hotel pickup from Waikiki include round-trip transportation in the price. Coral Crater offers the lowest entry-point pricing for stand-up solo ATV rides; Kualoa Ranch sets the upper end for premium drive-your-own packages.

Booking & Rider Requirements

ATV license requirements in Hawaii
No special license is required for guided ATV tours on Oahu. All operators provide a brief instruction session before each ride. Most sites require drivers to be 16 or older with a valid driver license. Some operators allow younger participants to ride as passengers in 2-seat side-by-side vehicles, typically with a 5-year minimum age and a parent or guardian on board.
Can ATVs use Oahu public roads?
No. Oahu prohibits ATV use on public roads. All ATV tours operate on private ranch land or designated off-road parks: Kualoa Ranch (Jurassic Valley), Coral Crater Adventure Park (Kapolei), Gunstock Ranch (Windward), and the North Shore trail system. Each site is a closed-trail environment with guides and pre-mapped routes. Self-driven ATV transport between sites is not possible; book each ride directly at the operator location.
Age and physical requirements
Drivers typically must be 16 or older with a valid driver license. Passengers must be 5 or older at most operators. Helmets are mandatory and provided at no cost. Closed-toe shoes, long pants, and sun protection are required at every site. Pregnant guests, riders with back or neck conditions, and those weighing over the operator posted limit (usually 300 lbs) are not permitted. Operators reserve the right to refuse rides for safety reasons.

Where to Ride: Oahu ATV Operators

Kualoa Ranch (Jurassic Valley)
Kualoa Ranch sits 35 miles north of Waikiki on the windward coast and runs ATV tours through filming locations from Jurassic Park, Kong: Skull Island, and Lost. The Most Popular option is the 2-Hour Jurassic Valley Raptor Adventure. The 3-Hour Deluxe lets riders drive their own ATV through movie sites, valleys, and trails. Open daily 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Hotel pickup from Waikiki is included on most packages.
Coral Crater Adventure Park
Coral Crater Adventure Park is on the leeward (west) side of Oahu in Kapolei, about 25 miles west of Waikiki. The park offers the most ATV variety: 2-seat side-by-sides, stand-up solo rigs, and combo packages with the on-site zipline and aerial challenge course. The Ultimate Off-Road Trail Experience and the Stand-Up Solo Adventure Trek are the top picks. Open daily; combo packages with Ko Olina sunset cruise are popular.
North Shore & Haleiwa ATV
North Shore ATV tours depart from Haleiwa, about 40 miles north of Waikiki, with hotel pickup included. The North Shore ATV Ride Adventure pairs off-road riding with Haleiwa Town sightseeing. The Secrets of North Shore Expedition adds a freshwater pool swim. The 2.5-Hour Small-Group Tour is top-rated for small parties. North Shore departures are scenic but require longer transfer time, around 75 minutes from Waikiki each way.

Specialty ATV Experiences

Gunstock Ranch ATV (Windward)
Gunstock Ranch is on the windward side near Laie, 38 miles from Waikiki. The Hidden Gems guided tour is a private ATV adventure through the ranch hidden valleys and canyons. Gunstock also offers Hawaiian tree planting paired with the ATV ride or a horseback alternative, making it the most family- and education-friendly option. Smaller and quieter than Kualoa with less movie-related crowd; suitable for groups seeking a more personal experience.
ATV combo packages
ATV combo packages save time and money by bundling multiple activities. The Coral Crater Ultimate Combo pairs ATV with the on-site zipline and aerial challenge course. The Stand-Up ATV plus Ko Olina Sunset Snorkel Cruise pairs morning ATV with an evening catamaran cruise. The Gunstock Ranch ATV plus Tree Planting combo adds a meaningful conservation activity. Combo packages typically save 15 to 25 percent versus booking separately.

Logistics & Tips

Transport from Waikiki
Most North Shore and Kualoa Ranch ATV tours include round-trip hotel pickup from Waikiki. Pickup runs 6:30 to 7:30 AM for morning departures. Drive time is 45 to 75 minutes each way depending on the operator location. For Coral Crater (Kapolei), some tours offer pickup; others expect self-drive (rental car or rideshare). Gunstock Ranch is windward and typically requires self-drive. Plan for 4 to 6 hours total tour time including transfers.
What to wear and bring
Closed-toe shoes are mandatory at every operator. Wear long pants to protect against trail debris and brush. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a baseball cap or bandana for under the helmet, and a small bottle of water. Most sites provide bandanas, helmets, and goggles at check-in. Cameras and phones can ride along but are at the rider risk on rough trails. A change of clothes for after the ride is recommended in case of mud or rain.
