Surf Instructors was awesome in preparing me and the rest of us newbies on what not to do and what to be prepared for The instructor I had was pateint and very knowledgable in surfing I caught almost every wave with ease. I had fun and would surf again.

A fantastic time!
Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2012/06/19This was an intense, 2-hour surf lesson that I absolutely loved! The weather was perfect, and catching waves right in front of Diamond Head was amazing.
I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but the group lesson gave you a short intro into surfing and then helped you to ride the waves for the rest of the time. We spent a good amount of time (enough to exhaust me) in the water, with detailed instruction for each of the instructors. I was a bit worried when I got there with the amount of people, as I wasn't sure how it was going to work out, but the staff at Hans Hedemann made this a supa way to spend a Saturday morning.
Huge thanks go out to the surf instructors of the day, so thank you to Shawn, Easton, and Zara for keeping our huge group going for the full 2 hours, you guys were fantastic! A great time that i highly recommend to anyone and everyone visiting Waikiki!

Fun Experience!
Reviewed by: EYSL, 2010/12/30We went on our Honeymoon and this was one of the activities that we have done. If this is your first time surfing, don't fret. The staff are professional and they teach you all the basics. Opt for the private lessons because if you are tired from paddling, the instructor can help you back to the waves hence more opportunity for you to keep on practicing to get better. The photographer was great as well as he managed to capture some great photos and you can get them all in a disc which was nice. Highly recommended...

Incredible!

This was our first activity on our first day and it set a trend of quality that stayed throughout our trip. These surfers are great teachers, assistants, advisors, helpers, and just plain nice.
I can't recommend anywhere more than this school.

Surfing For Everyone
Reviewed by: Ron Gurtiza, 2010/03/25All the instructors made us feel comfortable and made sure we had fun and guaranteed we would all stand up. I signed up for the 2 hour class. The waves were knee to waist high and be prepared to do a lot of paddling. Everyone in my group stood up on the board. We all started posing for the camera while surfing. Very fun for all age groups. A school of dolphins showed up and jumping along with us. PERFECT DAY!!!!

Surf lesson

I would recommend a lesson early in the day though because the photographer doesn't like to take photos during the 3:00 session due to the sun. My best ride was the last one and he had left already.

Great Instructor
Reviewed by: John, 2008/12/20I was worried about this activity, but it turned out to be a great experience. Our instructor, Johnny, was attentive, motivated and dedicated to the 3 of us that he was teaching. He kept us going for the 2 hours we were in the water, even when we felt to tired to continue.
Note: You have to be in good physical condition to undertake this activity, it is exhausting, but worth it

Reviewed by: Elaine, 2008/03/29All of the staff at Hans Hedemann are just wonderful, from the driver, to the instructor at the shop, all the instructors in the ocean, and even the cameraman! Everyone was just so friendly, laughing and smiling, and making sure we were having a good time. My fiance and I had an awesome time and would recommend this surf school to everybody. The pictures came out great, thank you camera man!

wear the right shirt

Two of the kids wore short sleeve shirts and wish they wore long sleeve as they both had quite a rash on the arm from rubbing against the board.

Great time surfing with Ivan!
Reviewed by: Julia & Cole, 2007/05/29I had surfed a few times before with previous lessons but never with this company. My boyfriend had never surfed before. We were picked up more or less on time by the driver, driven to the surf shop, and introduced quickly to our teacher, Ivan, a lovely man who has lived in Oahu over 20 years. He gave us our gear, including two massive boards that we toted to the beach. We then had a lesson on the sand for about 15 minutes, then out to sea!
We enjoyed the surfing, though I was a bit afraid of the waves and thus Ivan toned it down until I was confident. Once I was, though, he took us out to where regulars were surfing, and we did more or less okay!
Our lesson was 2 hours long, and we are both in 8 out of 10 shape, but were both POOPED by then end - so I recommend that you keep the lesson length in mind with your own fitness!
I absoultely recommend no more than 2 or at most 3 people to an instructor so that noone holds the group back.
