Good tour, but you can't schedule nature
Reviewed by: Tom , 2023/12/10The timings and organisation of the tour were good. We were picked up from the airport and taken to see the Volcano National Park sites with a good guide who kept us informed and was accommodating of our needs. Unfortunately you can't schedule nature and we didn't see any volcanic activity apart from a little steam, but it was still interesting, especially the lava tube.
We had a helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters to finish off with, but I will not review that part, I will review their admin however. We really wanted a copy of the video of our flight as it was for a 50th birthday, but due to a technical difficulty could not get it at the time. We were told to just drop them a line, but after several emails and calls, still nothing - very disappointed in them.

Rainy wet day
Reviewed by: Danielle, 2018/03/21Unfortunately, the rain and fog prevented us from having the helicopter tour which is what we were most looking forward to. We had a fantastic tour guide and had a marvelous time at the orchid gardens. But with the weather, and being as this was an outdoor tour, it was disappointing and very wet.

bad weather, canceled helicopter tour
Reviewed by: Tiwi, 2018/02/23it could be better, but bad weather caused out helicopter tour be canceled. but the tour provider directly pick us and put us on the land tour. our tour leader and driver, John, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. he share us alot of things about big island. he is indeed a great driver too!

check the weather first
Reviewed by: Pete J, 2017/01/31Overall the tour was well organised and professional. However due to low visibility from low cloud and rain, the helicopter part of the tour was cancelled and refunded. Since the hotel pick up was 6am, we had already flown to the big island before that decision was made, therefore the package became just an expensive day trip bus ride. We would have preferred to cancel the whole trip if we had known the helicopter portion was not gonig ahead, althought that is the decison of the pilots.
The bus tour and guide was very good and knowleldgeable and could not fault what we did experience.
