Beautiful views from the boat, areas on boat need work
Reviewed by: Amber, 2013/06/27My grandmother and I chose this as something different to do from the sightseeing and beach time we had been enjoying. The transportation is great even for those of us that are familiar with the island, and well worth the additional cost. The seating area is packed and truly would be more enjoyable with fewer people crammed in. The food and service were far better than expected and the "All You Can Eat" crab truly lives up to the name. The boat from an external view is beautiful and makes a striking appearance out on the open ocean. On the decks there are areas that could be maintained better, especially the areas that food is served from and are in plain view of guests. The top deck is amazing for catching sight of the city line and would be a great place to spend a romantic evening with a significant other. Overall this is something that I am glad we experienced and would be willing to take others on.

Great cruise!
Reviewed by: cindywriley, 2012/12/18This cruise was so much fun! We really enjoyed the crablegs, and the Mai Tai's are the best in Waikiki! They really get you involved by getting you up to dance and sing! It was my wedding night, so they sang the Hawaiian Wedding Song to me and my new hubby, and the next day was my birthday so they also sang Happy Birthday to me! It was a great, fun, romantic activity, and I would definitely do it again!

Overall a very nice experience

If you're looking for a pleasant, relaxing dinner on the water this is the option for you - I would highly recommend the the three star option - the slight price difference is worth it.
Although there are a lot of guests on board it's not loud nor do you have a feeling of being over crowded. The lobster is wonderful and they have staff that come and around crack the shell for you! you can get as messy as you want though once she's revealed the majority of the crayfish for you
Steak is a small serve but very satisfying and in between meals popping up to the top deck is fantastic - the Honolulu skyline is gorgeous and the fresh warm air simply wonderful - it's a great way to start or end any Hawaiian Vacation or celebrate a special occasion.

Not so private table
Reviewed by: Brian, 2012/05/04I payed an extra 25 dollars per person for a guaranteed private table but the couples table next to us was maybe 6 inches away. Not very private at all. This issue aside it was a great experience and we had a lot of fun.

January 2012 Sunset Cruise
Reviewed by: George Skelton, 2012/01/28This is our second Sunset Cruise and we had a wonderful time. Service and Entertainment was outstanding. Food was average, and uneventful. We are not fans of meat cooked rare and would have liked to had the meat cooked to our liking. We look forward to taking this dinner cruise again, when we are in Honolulu.

Wonderful service!
Reviewed by: Azalea G., 2011/02/16Everyone was extremely helpful. My husband and I were directed to our table right away. When we decided to go up deck for the view we went back to our table and had our salads waiting for us. The lobster was delicious and they even helped crack it open. The entertainment was fun and engaging and when it came to disembark the ship, it was fast and painless...no line! My favorite part was the view of Honolulu and Waikiki at sunset.

Dinner Cruise
Reviewed by: Jessica, 2010/11/21The food wasn't as good as i expected, but i think you are mainly paying for the cruise. the mai tais were great! steak could have been cooked a little more. i dont like crab, but my boyfriend loved it! this is def a great activity for a little romance for couples for a nice evening.

Very Romantic

We had the 3 star VIP with Dom Perignon. Wonderful night. Perfect for couples. And if you are thinking of Proposing, this itinery is perfect. Alo'ha!!!!

I booked the 3 star dinner w/ special occasion feature for my girl and I. The food was great! loved the lobster and steak... our waitress Jasmine was great also! It didnt take very long for us to get our plates.... The view of diamond head was amazing... When it was time for sunset, we headed up to the observation deck, WHAT A SIGHT!!!! We took a couple of photos and one of the other guests offered to take a photo op for us.... After seeing the picture she took of us, we realized what that picture could be! "something much more." as in, a Save the Date type of photo..... My girlfriend has an idea of what I was up to to since i mentioned the photo as a save the date type of picture but shes gonna be surprised when I pop the question in the near feature!!!!! THEN she can finally say that we can use this photo for our SAVE THE DATE picture!!!

Great time!

We got the 3 star package with the celebration plan and definitely had a great time. This was our last planned event during our stay and it was a wonderful way to spend our last night in Hawaii. We were quickly shown to our table and the dinner service went smoothly from there. We went up to the deck above several times to check out the view of Waikiki Beach all the way down to Diamond Head. Dinner was wonderful (although a little messy since we had the lobster) and the entertainment (a jazz duo with a saxophonist for a couple numbers) during dinner was lovely. We came back to our table at one point to find the photo they took right after we boarded sitting in a very nice cover on our table, free with the package we ordered. The show after dinner was quite entertaining, especially when they got everyone in the room up on their feet and dancing in one big mass of people, it was so much fun!

Great Cruise

The first time was with Navatek and that was a nice cruise but we felt that one was overcrowded (we upgraded our cruise on both trips). The cruise on the Star of Honolulu was much more expensive than our upgraded Navatek cruise so we were looking for a much improved experience.
The Star of Honolulu cruise was VERY personal as there were very few people who upgraded to the upper deck package. Matt and Captain Roy were extremely attentive and a pleasure to be around.
Unfortunately it was very overcast and the ocean choppy for our voyage but the dining experience was first class. The jazz show was phenomenal as well.
The coach ride felt like herding cattle, and at the price of our ticket I would expect a more personal form of transportation (I realize a personal car required an additional upgrade, but would have expected something more intimate than a full sized tour bus). There was little to no information given

Unique Experience

Although the waves were a little choppy, overall I had a great time. The food is great (one star), service is good, and the atmosphere is satisfying. Just a little advice for all the couples out there who want a special "one-on-one" type of evening, spend the extra money to get a table for two. If not, you may end up sharing a table with another couple. I lucked out and the couple that was supposed to show, didn't. This is also a type of outing that is geared more towards tourists. So this may not be so entertaining for many of the locals. It also does get a little chilly, so bring some sort of jacket (for the men), or a jacket/shawl (for women). Overall, I enjoyed the quality and experience this activity had to offer. I would definitely do it again sometime.

Wonderful

We opt for the limo transportation (not worth it, its only a 10 minute ride without traffic) and realized that the docks were not far from the wakiki hotel area. Anyway, they take you onto the boat and direct you to the appropriate floor according to the package you select. We selected the 5 star which was relaxing and not a party environment like downstairs(4 star). You listen to jazz and singing. It's very romantic and the views are out of this world. The 7 course dinner is ok, small protions but you do get kinda full. Couples plan is recommended. They brought our champagne very late which was disappointing but they gave us a free picture and the bottle to make up for it. They give you drink coupons anyway so it's no big deal. Our cruise was almost ruined because of the disrespectful crowd right next to us. One person in particular was laughing very loud you couldn't even hear the perform

wonderfull staff, but a bumpy ride
Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2007/08/07The staff & service are both fantastic. They are so accommodating. The food is very good, however I was not able to enjoy it because I was so seasick. I didn't expect it to be such a rough ride. The boat could use an upgrade & makeover for sure. It's a bit dated. Entertainment was OK. That part could use an upgrade as well. They should know that there ARE good songs from this decade as well. Spring for the upgrade. Downstairs looked a bit crowded.

Star of Honolulu was a great time!

The dinner was good- nice portions ( we did NOT go home hungry), and the music and show was a blast! The top deck was perfect for taking sunset pictures of Diamond Head. We did the couple's plan and recommend it to any couple deciding on this package. This ended up being a really fun night for the both of us and would highly recommend it to anyone going to Oahu!
