Maui
The road to Hana is simply enchanting. I do not think that another road like this exists in the world. On the entire trip you are engulfed by the alluring beauty of Hana. The trip into the cave was fascinating. It felt like we were going inside the Earth to a place where the effects of time cannot be felt.
The road to hana was something that I wanted to experience while on Maui. I'm glad that someone else was driving, because that road in narrow and curves constantly. The driver did a great job maneuvering around the road, all while giving us informative information about what we were seeing. All along the road you can see beautiful lush vegetation. The helicopter tour was a great way to get a brids-eye-view of hana. Hana is even more beautiful when you see it from a helicopter. You can really get a feel for how dramatic the scenery in Hana is.
Stand up paddling was a very unique experience. The instructors were great and really made it easy to learn how to stand up paddle. We are from the midwest, so we wanted to try a unique ocean activity, since it would be something that we would not be able to try back home. I wish we had easier access to the ocean, so we could use our newly acquired paddling skills.
We did the Hana/Haleakala flight. We felt like we were on our way to Jurassic Park while we were flying over Hana. The whole flight was just non-stop jaw dropping beauty all around you. When we made the transition to Haleakala it was like we were flying over Mars. We had taken tours of Hana and Haleakala, but is truly a different experience when you see it from the sky.
I surfed from when I was 7 until I was about 14. When I visited Maui I decided to try to get back onto the board. I took the intermediate surf lesson. The instructors at Action Sports Maui did a very good job of getting me back into the swing of surfing. It was a great experience and I hope that I will be able to surf again sometime soon.
I read a lot of books about WWII, and I've also watched many documentaries about WWII. It was such a rewarding experience to visit one of the most historically important sites in America. You can see where WWII started for the United States, as well as, where the Japanese surrendered (On the USS Missouri). If you are in Hawaii, visiting Pearl Harbor is a must. Even if you are not a history buff, the historical significance of Pearl Harbor is something that should not be overlooked.
We participated as a family. The Japanese staff member, Takako, explained everything very thoroughly, which allowed us to smoothly enjoy snorkeling together. We were satisfied to see three sea turtles, but the water temperature was lower than we expected, and the kids quickly got cold and wanted to come back up. I recommend that everyone bring a rash guard and rent a wetsuit when you participate.
My wife and I had a great time at the ranch.
The check in was straight forward and the waiting area was clean with friendly staff.
The lunch was great and the cook was very friendly.
I had Cowboy and my wife had Baily and they were great horses.
Butch and the other wrangler (can't remember his name) were friendly and knowledgeable.
We would recommend the Mendes Ranch to anyone who wants to have great trail ride while in Maui.
The views offered by the hike is absolutely gorgeous, waterfalls, lush vegetation and beautiful flowers. It was a little pricey for a short hike. Nevertheless, we enjoyed it.
We took the 5 hour hike and it was wonderful. I was joined on this activity by 5 families members including my 83 and 80 year old parents. Our tour guide, Akiko, was beyond knowledgable and special. She gave us so much information that I felt like I became part of the rain forest. Her attention to our enjoyment along with her friendliness made this one of the best events we did on Maui. Strongly recommend this event and this a vast improvement for me as I was the hold out on taking part in this hike.

A little bit corney, but fun nevertheless. I took my daughters to the show and they did enjoy it. This is not broadway and I doubt it has anything to do with Hawaiian culture, but iw was a fun time. All the dancers were great. The fire dance is obviously the big draw and it worth it.
This was a very time. The guides were a little stiff at first but loosened up enough for all to enjoy it. The sights were fantasitc as was the snorkling. We saw 2 species of dolphins and many whales. The snorkling was great. The raft has a toliet so that too was a plus.
I participated with my 12-year-old son on March 24, 2010. Although we had snorkeling experience in Oahu, it was our first time in Maui. The boat for this tour was large and impressive, unlike the smaller boats we had in Oahu, and my son didn't get seasick.
There were only two Japanese families participating, including us, so there was just one Japanese staff member. However, they were very attentive and provided us with timely information, allowing us to act smoothly and enjoy the activities.
The water clarity at Molokini exceeded our expectations. You could almost see the seabed from the surface! While there weren't an overwhelming number of fish, we still had a good time. We also moved to a spot where turtles were supposed to be, but unfortunately, we couldn't see any.
From a Japanese perspective, it gets quite cold when you come out of the water, so I think it's a good idea to bring something to wear on top. The meeting place, Ma'alaea Harbor, can also be windy and chilly in the morning.
Helga was our guide and she seemed to know alot about the area. We were walking alog and she stopped at a tree and pointed out a lizard or some kind. How she saw it I don't know. My wife thought it was almost too long a hike as she has a back injury. I enjoyed every minute of it. We saw 4 waterfalls and I swam in 2 on them. Swung on a rope through the fourth waterfall. Had a blast. Your in a rainforest jungle so be ready to come out with muddy shoes. The info sheet said wear swim clothes and bring a dry change. Don't bring anything. There is no place to change at. If you need to just wear something over your swimwear. I wore swim trunks and took my shirt, shoes, socks off for swimming. Your provided backpacks to carry your lunch in. On the lunch choices bread choice should also be added. My and I both don't like rye?... The only down point i saw and was no control of the guide is there is a sick fasination with pit-bulls. The locals brings them and they are loose. My
According to the Maui Tourism Board's website, the tour was estimated to take about 4 hours, which made my wife and daughter hesitant due to concerns about seasickness. However, since the tour guides mentioned it would only take 2 hours, we decided to join the Lahaina cruise. In the end, I think 2 hours was just right. Thanks to the season at the end of March, we spotted whales about 15 minutes after departure and were able to see around 20 whales in total, including a mother and calf that we observed closely for about 30 minutes. (Most were just visible in the distance, but I believe the situation wouldn't change much even if the duration were longer.)
I actually intended to bring binoculars but forgot them. Interestingly, neither the crew nor any participants had them either. I thought that since visibility would be limited while searching, there might not be many opportunities to use them.
The boat we were on was a stable catamaran, and while it felt stable when moving, when the engine was turned off to observe the whales, the small width of the boat made it susceptible to rolling waves, which could cause side-to-side motion. If you're prone to seasickness, it might be wise to take some medication beforehand (my wife said she was glad she did).
Additionally, parking in Lahaina can be challenging, so if you're participating by rental car, I recommend arriving early in the morning or a bit ahead of time (there were plenty of parking spots if you moved a little away from the bay).
In summary, I’m glad we participated! It was fun! I hope this helps.

We had fun and enjoyed learning to surf, however we were taken to a very shallow part of the ocean where the floor was covered with sharp rocks. My husband and I were both injured and ended up leaving 50 minutes early from our lesson. The wind was pretty bad that day which obviously is uncontrollable, but there very few waves and lots of other surf lesson students so there was very little opportunity to attempt what we had learned. I do not feel the value of the lesson was enough to warrant how much we paid. But, again, we did have a good time and perhaps on a less windy and cold day it wouldn't have been so bad.
The sunset dinner cruise was a very pleasant experience. The food was excellent and the weather was perfect. We saw a whale and her calf nearby, which was a great experience, and the sunset and bright stars in the clear night sky were unmatched. Overall, I would recommend this cruise to other couples.
Our guide "Frenchie" was very funny, entertaining, and courteous. He certainly made the 2 hour horseback ride enjoyable. We were taken to some locations that offered amazing views of both the mountains and the ocean. In addition, the BBQ lunch that was provided was excellent as well. Overall, it was a very good experience, and one that we would recommend to others.
We found the tour to be everything we expected. Apart from some delays with pick up from the airport/Honolulu, all else proceeded as planned. The memorial experience was very emotional yet rewarding and an experience not to be missed.
The remainder of the tour was most interesting during the sightseeing in the area and our tour guide kept us well informed regarding the history etc.
There was a lot of fun and lively activity. A variety of dances and bright colorful costumes. The food was excellent with something for everyone. The show was topped off with one of the best fire dances I have ever seen!
This is firt time I attende the Luau. It was a great experience and fun. The food was wonderful, and the music was really out of this world. Kudos to all the hot and sexy dancers for showing the beauty of Polynecian culture. If get a chance, I'll attend this again and again. Thanks.
This worth every penny . Since the beginning We enjoy, the food ,the show was wonderful and the people really nice.
We really liked the show. It was very interesting, funny and it will stay in my memory forever. I would recommend it to everyone!
This was the best! I traveled with my teenage daugher and 9 year old son and we had a wonderful family experience! Kristin (our guide) is the BEST! Kristin brought the whole group together as one big family! She made sure everyone had a great time and pointed out many interesting plants and species in the rainforest. She was amazing with my son and helped him with the rope swings - All of us would definitely do this event again!!!!
We had a wonderful time with South Pacific Kayak and Kelly - spent the morning enjoying the kayaks and snorkeling. Kelly was able to direct us to some awesome spots and plenty of turtles and fish to enjoy! Would definitely recommend the long trip to everyone!
We had a superb kayak experience, first-time, and got to see some big fish (whales). Are they any good eating? I kid, I kid! If we ever make our way back to the beautiful islands we'd do this again in a heartbeat! Thanks for such an amazing day!
Great trip and great staff. The crew was very knowledgeable and answered all of my whale questions and they were so quick to point out the whales as well. Early Bird Special is a great deal too!
Being from Kansas, my family and I don't exactly get too many opportunities to go kayaking in the ocean, so when my son asked if we could do the kayaking and whale watching, I was little scared but now I am so glad that I did it! This was such a great tour from the moment we met our guide up until we came back to shore. Seeing whales while in our kayaks was completely breathtaking and the professionalism displayed by the guides was top notch. Keep it up folks!
So exciting, very knowledgeable crew, and tons of whales. We had a super great time! Thanks again!
The 4 of us had a ball at the ranch. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Frenchi and Butch were great with us. Also liked the way riders were paired to the horses. Had my 50th birthday on your island and at the end of the ride I was the last to dismount due to friends signing Happy Birthday to me. Was a BIG highlight of our trip. Thanks again.
