Downhill bike waterfall hike & snorkel tour

Reviewed by: Carmen Aponte , 2017/10/20

I really enjoyed this fun filled active day! Our tour guide, Terry, was so knowledgeable as he described the botany in the Rain Forest. He was easy going and entertaining. He took me to where the sea turtles were swimming and I enjoyed it immensely when a turtle came alongside of me and we swam together as she took 3 big gulps of air before diving down. What an honor to have experienced this beautiful living being! A super highlight of my entire Hawaiian trip!! Thank you Terry!

Fun day

Reviewed by: Bob R. , 2016/07/01

This was a lot fun and a good way to see different part of Ohau quickly. The hike through the rain forest to the waterfall was interesting. There were things you don't see in other parts of the world. It is not an easy hike. Be prepared for strenuous activity. The bike ride makes up for it. It is all down hill, beautiful views and a wonderful spot to stop, eat and take in the view. The Bike Hawaii staff are outstanding. They quickly become friends and are genuinely focused on your enjoyment and safety. The last experience, swimming with sea turtles was just the best. The turtles are not afraid of humans and will surface next to you. You can't touch them but one came so close it almost touched me. We stayed out there a long time and really got to enjoy them. This was a great day and lot of fun. It is an all day experience so plan for it.

  • View on bike ride.

The tour guide, Mike, made the trip!

Reviewed by: Mai, 2016/01/22

Mike, our tour guide was very informative and made the trip exciting for us.

My husband and I did not finish all three activities due to too much sun exposure. It was exhausting. We did not go snorkeling, however, the hike was interesting (I'm not an outdoorsy person) and the downhill bike was the our personal favorite. Next time, we will do it again, but I can go without the hike.

  • This is the beautiful view from the downhill biking excursion.

Busy day out

this day out is well worth it. our guide Terii was very enthusatic about Hawaii its culture, history, forna etc. The highlight would have to be swimming with the turtles at the end. The day is extremely organised, good food, heaps of snacks etc.

bike and hike

Reviewed by: toni turnham, 2013/11/19

Enjoyed getting off the beaten track, the hike is fairly easy, but expect to get a little muddy. The bike ride takes you up into the hills above the city so you get a great view out over Waikiki and Diamond head.

Awesome adventure!

Reviewed by: Llama23, 2012/10/22

I didn't know what to expect when I booked this tour since I was going solo. The staff is very friendly and on time. The first part of the tour is the hike up the Manoa valley 5 miles south of Waikiki. Highly recommended to wear long sleeves and pants if you don't like mosquitoe bites. The hike itself is fairly easy. Very doable for any age. The trip to the waterfalls itself is more enjoyable than when you get there.
The second part of the tour is the 5 mike downhill bike ride. I know, it sounds more daunting than it is. I haven't bike for almost 20 years but got the hang of it right away. You won't really need to pedal much as it is mostly downhill, rather you will need to use your brakes a lot. Fantastic view of downtown Waikiki and Diamond head crater.
Overall, I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for some adventure outside of the beach. Great experience!!!

Great fun - needs some tweaking

Reviewed by: Jenny, 2012/10/07

This tour would have gotten 5 stars but for the tour guide whom we thought was not very good.
It's a 6 hour tour, comprising a hike through the jungle to Manoa Falls, and a bike down the Tantalus road with the spectacular views of Honolulu.
Pickup: was on time and easy in a minibus.
Boots: We had to prebook boots to trek the muddy trail, I booked boots from Australia (different size to US) and asked co. to check my sizings. Mattias, the guide, threw boots off car roof and random people took them to try. He didn't know whos boots were whos. Two of my family's boots were split letting water and mud in, defeating the purpose. My boots were taken by someone else, and I was left with too small boots. Mattias said I didn't book 'womens' size. ?? huh??and was unconcerned with my problem.
Trail: We were given water and trail mix, and a waist bag, and insect spray, which I thought was great. The trail was on private land and The jungle walk was lovely. It was extremely muddy, but had

Rain Forest Hike is MUDDY!

Reviewed by: Clara, 2012/07/06

I wish there had been a more specific statement regarding the hike that you may get very muddy! They did have rain boots but you needed to have high socks so you wouldn't get blisters.
I didn't have the socks so ended up wearing my tennis shoes - there was no avoiding the mud - I had mud up to my knees - mainly from splashing - mud wasn't that deep.

There were lovely flowers and going in the midst of a banboo forest was amazing. We did see a poisonous tree frog - beautiful bright green and black.

The bike ride was a breeze literally and the half way stopping point has an amazing view of Honolulu!

The catamaran was a lot of fun - they knew exactly where the turtles come to get cleaned up by the fish - we saw 3 different sized turtles.

What a Treat

Reviewed by: Stephanie, 2011/01/14

If you only have time to do one hike while in Hawaii, I suggest this one. Hiking through a rainforrest is something you'll never forget. Part of the hike is on a path and part of it your guide is creating for you, Our guide Mattias is very fun and knew all about the history of the area.

The bike ride was an adventure and thank God DOWN HILL! Your so busy concentrating on the road you don't get to see much of your surroundings, however we did stop for lunch at a beautiful overlook of the city.

This adventure is highly recommended, but only if you don't mind a little mud.

Thanks for the good time!!!

Hike/Bike/Snorkel-Sail

Staff is very friendly. Jeremy and Kalani (I prob spelled his name wrong) were very knowledgeable, helpful. There was and older gentleman on the hike who had issues with heat exhaustion, and Jeremy even took off his t-shirt to help the man, that maybe shouldn't have been on the hike in the first place. It was great that we had the same two guides during throughout all three excursions. There are only two things they don't tell you before you go. One is that the hike is a real hike, not just a stroll through the woods, and bit challenging for someone who would become winded from climbing stairs. lol We were able to do the hike with no problems, but its just a word of advise. Second there is only one port-a-potty available at the beginning of the day, so make sure you go before it starts. But don't worry you will sweat out most of the water lol. You won't have access to another bathroom until the start of the snorkel. Other than those few surprises we had a wonderful time and everythi

Bike, Hike, Sail & Snorkel Tour

Great day of events. For me the sailing portion made the day very long. I would not recommend all three in the future.

The hike and biking experience was awesome. Some of the guides on the boat were not as friendly or welcoming as I experienced on my other excursions. Kind of put a damper on an otherwise good experience.

Parent and teacher

Reviewed by: Nancy, 2007/06/23

The trio combination of snorkeling, hiking and biking was unique. Our favoriate part of the day was the hike through the rain forest and snorkeling. The biking was OK but not at all challenging; good for the scenic view only. The snorkeling was OK, but could have been better if there was more to see i.e. aquatic life beyond the turtle. We also found it to be a bit intimidating to snorkel in the ocean, which was rather rough that day. We have snorkeled in the past in more protected areas such as coves and bays, and were anticipating something similar. Overall, if we could do it again, we would chose the hike, skip the biking and only do snorkeling within a contained area.

Thank you.
