A little dissapointed

The cruise was just fine. If you want a real sunset cruise, the catamaran is not the way to go.

Not a great experience

Reviewed by: AMD, 2016/11/28

My husband and I recently moved to Oahu, and my parents were coming to visit us for Thanksgiving....I wanted to find something different we could do so I thought a dinner cruise would be perfect and relaxing. The food was subpar, and they made it seem like it was going to be a huge spread. We did not get to see fireworks, when the weather seemed fine. And towards the end of the cruise, we were just hanging out in the same area for quite some time before we had to dock. I am usually not one to complain, or write reviews, but I suggest you ask specific questions if considering these particular cruises so you are not left disappointed. We felt as though it was a waste of our money, and we would have rather gone out for a nice dinner, and sat outside to watch the sunset.

It was ok evening out

Reviewed by: Sally, 2016/08/08

Nothing special, lots of people on the catamaran, the crew where great, unfortunately the food let the experience down, it was mediocre at best.....alcohol was served in plastic cups, that I understand but not a great deal of variety, hubbie said the signature cocktail was ok, captain was great at getting the position right for the fireworks, probably wouldn't do the cruise agin

Meh. I think it's misleading to call this a lantern ceremony sail.

Reviewed by: redheadwahine, 2016/06/04

The sailing was pretty, the views were gorgeous during sunset, and the boat was nice enough. The crew was great. But I don't think it was worth the almost $200 we paid to go as a couple. The drinks were fairly weak, and of course they talk you into buying the $8 souvenir cup under the pretense that you'll get a bigger drink for the same price as the small cups... but they just use more mixer and ice and the same amount of liquor. We expected that and weren't expecting much of the food either since most touristy things like this aren't the best in either department. I'm mostly bummed out that this was advertised as a lantern ceremony sail which is the only reason we booked it. We've wanted to see the ceremony for the past 4 years but didn't want to deal with the huge crowds on shore. I understand that with the surf, you can't get too close, but we hadn't realized just how far away we'd be. It was just distance lights far away against the shore that blended in with he city lights and traffic. I had my extreme zoom telephoto lens and even I could barely tell when the lanterns hit the water. People opted to pull up the live streaming of the ceremony on their phones, which honestly was kind of a cool mixture to be out there live on the water and get a closer view digitally, but not worth $200 for the experience. Overall kind of disappointed, but still a cool way to see a different view of the island. Just not the lantern experience we had expected.

Awesome cruise, bad food

Reviewed by: Jason, 2016/05/09

Went with my wife and the boat was really nice and the crew was great. Got us is in perfect position to see the fireworks. The food they provided was terrible, barely edible Chinese food. Would have been better off not having food on the boat at all.

Dinner Cruise?

Reviewed by: Smith, 2015/06/19

Great idea - poor execution! It was a beautiful night and we were ready for a relaxing and delicious dinner cruise. Perhaps we misunderstood what was being offered. First, our pick up was scheduled for 4:10 pm but didn't arrive until after 4:45 pm. After signing in and another short wait, we were invited to board. Even though we knew this was on a catamaran, we thought there would be tables for each diner. This was not the case. Maximum guests (60 - 80) were crammed onto the vessel. This included some young children. Food was very good for the most part, but dinner was a "serve yourself buffet". Not the best option with children on a moving boat. Also, it was impossible to enjoy the meal with the catamaran moving at a fast pace, wind blowing aggressively, and no good place to sit while eating. We still enjoyed ourselves but the price was a bit high for the event. Perhaps just a sunset cocktail cruise would be better. Some drinks and delicious hors d'oeuvres. P.S. The sunset was magnificent!

Underwhelming

Reviewed by: Jeff Chartier, 2015/06/18

Our family of 4 did a Thursday night cruise. The weather absolutely gorgeous, scenery spectacular! The crew were extremely capable and very pleasant. We like what was trying to be done, but possibly too much is trying to be attempted. The food was a little disappointing for what we paid. There was only one table to eat on, otherwise you had to eat on your lap. Fighting the boats movement, the wind and everyone else on board was a challenge. We also felt like portion control was a must as the food supply seemed to be limited. I would suggest maybe not doing a full dinner, but maybe drinks and appetizers, and maybe some live entertainment. Also maybe a little more staffing would be helpful. Overall I would give 2 and a half stars. I liked what was trying to be done, but a little refinement is in order. But hey its paradise, nothing is that bad.

A review

This cruise was short of wind and so no sails - on fault of the crew of course but it was disappointing. The crew was very good. The sun set was average. I was impressed with the boat itself. Nonetheless, we had a great time and would recommend it.
