We have been coming to Maui for years but have never ventured off the island to visit Lana'i. First of all, Veltra allowed us to change the tour date from a Monday to a Thursday with no problem since we had a conflict come up. The ferry ride from Lahaina was easy and took about 45 minutes. The sea was very calm and although they recommend taking sea sickness pills, it wasn't necessary for this trip. Our tour guide Bruce, met us at the ferry dock on Lana'i. He drove us around in an air conditioned Suburban which was very comfortable. It was just the two of us so the tour was really personalized. We took the full day tour which really gives you a great impression of the island. The tour was about 2 1/2 hours in the morning, then an hour for lunch and 2 hours in the afternoon. Bruce, our guide has lived on Lana'i for 20 years and was very knowledgeable. He has seen the positive changes that have occurred on Lanai' since Larry Ellison bought the island five years ago and thoroughly explained the evolution of the island through the current day. We were then dropped off at the ferry dock for the 4:30 p.m. ferry back to Lanai--note, you need to book the return ferry when you schedule the tour and for the all day tour, the 4:30 p.m. ferry is the one to take.

If I lived on Maui I would happily volunteer anytime to help out! I LOVED all the animals on the farm!!! Thank you so much for the great time! Will definitely book it again!

The hula itself was amazing. I still find myself mesmerized while looking at the videos I took. The meals were also more than sufficient, and the staff was very considerate. However, there were only Japanese people around, and while the family seated next to us spoke to us, I still felt awkward due to the language barrier. I can't help but think that it would be nice to have a show where you can purely enjoy the hula.

It was a wonderful tour. Watching the sunset over the sea of clouds and the shadow of the Earth from the summit of Haleakalā, along with the countless stars, was truly overwhelming and breathtakingly beautiful. I believe it's not an exaggeration to say that if you haven't seen this, you might wonder why you came to Maui. The guide was also someone who approached this job with conviction and had a wonderful personality. If I come to Maui again, I would like to request this tour.

It started out as an ordinary boat ride, on a beautiful clear day, light variable winds. Then, nearing Lanai, we noticed dolphins swimming close to the ferry, going the opposite direction. Some were leaping and spinning. Our boat captain took the moment to slow the boat and loop back around to circle the dolphins again. Thrilling boat ride after all!
I guess part of my delight in the day was the weather -- beautiful and warm on the island. Return trip just as smooth as when I went out in the morning. Then saw a whale.
I'd do the trip again in a minute!

“Whale” worth your time!

We had a “whaley” good time! Two humpback whales swam around, under, and emerged out of the water right next to our boat, swimming around us for about 20 minutes! We were fortunate to have a prolonged close-up encounter, within feet of these beautiful creatures. A large group of dolphins also swam by, jumping in and out of the water! The views were outstanding and our guides were a lot of fun, informative and very friendly! (I even dropped my sunglasses in the ocean and one of our guides managed to grab them before they sank-above and beyond!) The drinks and appetizers were delicious, and to top it off there were beautiful rainbows along the coast as we sailed along the sea! Sea Maui Sunset Sail was wonderful and our FAVORITE thing we did in Maui!

It was a cold day with rain coming and going, and I underestimated that, so I couldn't enjoy it 100%. However, it would have been perfect if I had a hat and a down jacket. There were hardly any Japanese people, and if you don't understand English, it can be difficult to grasp the content of the performance. However, the venue is compact, making it easy to grab drinks and food from the buffet anytime and the restrooms are close, which is comfortable. The number of show dancers is on the lower side, so it may not be an overwhelmingly impressive show overall, but the final fire dance was worth the entire ticket price, showcasing the craftsmanship of the dancers. The front seats are VIP, and the priority entry was smooth and good, but the regular seats are not that much inferior.

The sunset and starry sky can be affected by weather conditions, but they always guide you with the best points of the day in mind. They provide thoughtful restroom breaks and souvenir recommendations, and gradually acclimate you to the high altitude, so it wasn't physically taxing. I had the best Haleakalā sunset and stargazing experience. They provide plenty of warm gear, but for those who are concerned about the cold, I recommend preparing even more as if for mid-winter.

The staff were friendly, and the service on board was attentive. On the way to Lanai Island, we encountered a pod of wild dolphins, and it was wonderful to stop the boat and take our time to watch them. Once we arrived at Lanai Island, we were able to see many colorful fish while snorkeling! Those who wished could participate in a tour of Lanai Island, and I joined. The local female guide was very polite and shared many stories unique to the area. On the return trip, we enjoyed drinks while watching the sunset, making for a truly lovely time. I would definitely like to go again!
