The Haleakalā volcano had great weather, and I was able to see breathtaking views of the sea of clouds, sunset, and starry sky. I could see many stars that I can't see in Japan, filling the sky. While listening to explanations about various stars, we observed them through a telescope. The elementary school children were also moved by the starry sky and seemed to enjoy stargazing while listening to our guide (Yama-chan).
Additionally, on the way to Haleakalā volcano, our guide provided us with information about Maui and recommendations for delicious restaurants, which were very helpful for our subsequent sightseeing. We also stopped at a donut shop, a local supermarket, and a souvenir shop at a farm, so we enjoyed shopping as well. There were restrooms available at each stop, and there are also restrooms at Haleakalā volcano, so I felt comfortable participating since I often need to use the restroom.
ハレアカラ火山はお天気もよく、雲海、サンセット、星空と全て感動の景色が見れて最高でした。日本では見れないたくさんの星を、空いっぱいに見ることができました。色々な星について説明を聞きながら、望遠鏡で星を観測します。小学生の子供達も満天の星空に感動し、ガイドさん（山ちゃん）の説明を聞いて楽しそうに天体観測していました。また、ハレアカラ火山までの道中、ガイドさんからマウイ島に関する情報や美味しいお店の情報などを教えてくれたので、その後の観光にも大変役立ちました。
途中ドーナッツ屋さん、地元のスーパー、農園のお土産屋さんにも立ち寄るので、買い物も楽しめました。トイレは立ち寄りの度に行けますし、ハレアカラ火山にもあるので、トイレが近い私も安心して参加できました。

I was able to talk with the other participants at the first donut shop we visited, which made me feel a sense of closeness, and that was great. We climbed slowly to the summit while taking breaks, so we were able to reach the top without any issues. I enjoyed listening to the guide's fun stories and personal anecdotes, and I had a wonderful time. Unfortunately, the sunset turned out to be a sun hidden behind the clouds, but the change in the colors of the sky was moving. Thank you very much.

I participated in the tour, but the weather was bad, and I couldn't see anything—not even the stars or the scenery. It was a tour where I didn't understand what I was there for. There was no explanation at the time of booking, and on the day of the tour, I was told that I might not be able to see anything. If that was the case, there could have been options to switch to another tour, which is very disappointing. I invested time and money into what could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so I would have appreciated at least a prior confirmation or a disclaimer. It was truly ruined. I believe tours with such a strong element of chance should not be sold.

The trade winds that were blowing in the morning died down in the afternoon, and the guide, Yamapi, said it was the best conditions possible, with no moon in sight, allowing us to fully enjoy the sunset and stargazing. There were also repeat customers who had come many times before, and I felt that if you come all the way to Maui, you must participate in this tour. At sea level (below 1 meter), the temperature is 28 degrees. The tour bus picked us up right in front of the hotel lobby. Mr. Yamap greeted us with a smile. From there, all participants gathered at the donut shop. We set off towards the summit of Haleakalā. We stopped at a market along the way to buy sushi and were given tips on Maui souvenirs, and then we headed to the summit! To reach a place over 3000 meters, we took our time ascending with breaks along the way (by car). To get above the clouds, we had to pass through them. In the thick clouds where we couldn't see ahead... I wondered if we would even be able to see anything at the summit. I was filled with anxiety as we climbed. However, Mr. Yamap played music and chatted, seemingly unconcerned about the weather at the summit. Perhaps to match the age of the participants? I’m not sure, but he played songs from the '80s... They were right in our strike zone, so we enjoyed the ride. And finally... the summit! There were no clouds, and nothing obstructed our view. As dusk fell, we could beautifully observe the rare shadow of the Earth, and since it was a new moon that day, while we ate our bento in the car, it seemed Mr. Yamap was preparing telescopes and other equipment. After dinner, when we got out of the car... we were instructed not to look up until we were outside. Since the car lights were on while we ate, it seemed that looking up immediately wouldn’t allow us to see the stars clearly. Once we adjusted our eyes, the starry sky was incredibly moving...! Seriously, it was amazing. Everyone should go. I don't want to promote it too much. It's a sight rarely seen. The number of stars you might only see once in a lifetime. It makes you feel how tiny Earth is... When I saw this starry sky, all my past failures and struggles seemed insignificant...
Lastly... it is really cold at the summit. They can lend you down jackets or blankets, but if you're sensitive to the cold, it's better to bring inner layers or disposable hand warmers even when going to Hawaii. They also serve warm tea.

今までの失敗や苦労などはこの星空を見たら・・・。以上
最後に・・・山頂はマジで寒いです。ダウンとか毛布とか貸していただけますが、寒がりの人はハワイに行くのに、インナーとか使い捨てカイロとかあったほうがいいです。暖かいお茶も出してくれます。

As forecasted, it was cloudy and very windy. Since light rain was also expected, I requested a schedule change if possible, but I received no response as the tour was confirmed to proceed on the day.
We headed towards the mountain while gradually acclimatizing to the high altitude, and we received some great souvenir information along the way. However, when we reached the gate, it was past 5 PM, and since there were no staff present, each driver had to process the entrance fee (toll) with a credit card, which caused a traffic jam.
In the end, we couldn't see the sunset, and the viewpoint of the crater was dark, so we missed the scenery of Haleakalā, which was disappointing. If we had known about this traffic situation in advance, we might have planned to pass through the gate before 5 PM. Especially since it was clear even to amateurs that the starry sky wouldn't be visible that day, seeing the crater while it was still light would have provided a different kind of excitement.
The guide's personality was impeccable, and their stories were captivating. However, despite the implication that we would be able to see the sunset, there was no mention of it at all...??

ゆっくり高地にならしながらいきますとのことで、お得なお土産情報もいただきながら、山に向かいました。
ゲートのところで、5時を過ぎていたので、係員不在の時は、各車のドライバーが、クレカで入山料（通行料）の手続きをしなければならず、渋滞となっていました。
結局、日没も見れず、火口の展望台も暗くなって見れず、でハレアカラの風景は見れずじまいだったのが残念でした。
もしこの渋滞事情が事前にわかっているのなら、五時までにゲートを通過する計画もあったのでは、と思います。
特に、その日は星空も期待できないのは素人でもわかっておりましたので、明るいうちに火口でも見れたら、また違った感動があったと思います。
ガイドさんのお人柄は申し分ありませんし、お話も魅力的でした。
ただ、日没は見れるような口ぶりだったのに、そのことについては何も触れられず・・？？でした。

There aren't many places to walk, so you can bring elderly people along. On the way up the mountain, we enjoyed a fun car ride where we were introduced to inexpensive souvenirs at a local supermarket and heard local stories about Maui. The sunset from the summit was a breathtaking view from another world. It was wonderful. The stargazing included easy-to-understand explanations using a telescope and a laser pointer. Unfortunately, we were affected by the moonlight, but it seems that if it were a new moon, the starry sky would be amazing. I'm really glad I brought my mother and children along.

I participated during the waxing crescent moon in December. The starry sky was beautiful, and the explanations were interesting. There were high-performance telescopes that allowed us to see things that are hard to see with the naked eye, making it a great experience. I wish I could have seen the starry sky during the new moon. The sunset was viewed from halfway up the summit of Haleakalā. The scenery was breathtaking. During my visit, there was no option for Grigori Ice, only Krispy Kreme donuts.

I participated on November 19, 2017. Fortunately, there were only four of us: my husband and I, plus an older couple, along with our guide Yamapi's wife as an assistant, allowing for a more intimate experience. After being picked up at the hotel, we drove through the town of Lahaina, hearing about the delicious and not-so-good restaurants there. We made a stop at Krispy Kreme for a break and enjoyed some freshly made donuts.
After that, we bought sushi bento at a supermarket (both the donuts and the bento were included in the tour price), and we headed to our destination. At the Kula Lodge, we purchased souvenirs that can only be found there (though I wondered if they might also be sold at the airport or in Waikiki, the items we bought seemed truly unique). Along the way, we saw a volcanic crater and gradually acclimated to the altitude before reaching the summit.
The initial location we aimed for was very crowded, so we parked in a less populated area, watched the sunset, and after eating the bento we purchased in the car, we enjoyed stargazing. That night, there was almost no moonlight, resulting in a perfect starry sky! Even I, who usually have no interest in stars, was moved. Under the starry sky, I also heard about Yamapi's background. He has faced many struggles to get to where he is now, and since I came on this trip while dealing with significant stress at work, I secretly cried while listening to his story in the dark.
Five years ago, when I went to Mauna Kea on the Big Island, I struggled with the thin air, but this time, I had no issues at all. My first visit to Maui was amazing!!! ラッキーなことに客は私達夫婦＋年配のご夫婦の計4人、それにガイドのヤマピーさんの奥様がアシスタントで参加されて少人数で回ることができました。
ホテルでピックアップ後、ラハイナの街を車で通り、ラハイナのおいしいお店・まずいお店をお聞きしながら、休憩兼ねてクリスピークリームドーナツに立ち寄り、出来立てのおいしいドーナツをいただきました。
その後スーパーでお寿司のお弁当を購入し（ドーナツもお弁当もツアー代に含みます）、いよいよ目的地へ向かいます。
クラロッジでは、そこでしか買えないお土産を購入（実は空港やワイキキでも売ってたりして？と思ったけど私たちが買った物は本当にどこにもなさそうでした）、途中火口を見たり少しずつ高所に体を慣らしながら山頂に到着です。
当初向かった場所は大混雑だったため、人の少ない場所に車を止めて、サンセットを見て、車内で購入したお弁当を食べた後、星空観賞です。
その日は月明かりがほとんど無い日だったので、まさに満点の星空！
普段星になんか興味が無い私でも感動しました。
星空の下、ヤマピーさんの今までの経歴なんかもお聞かせいただきました。
とても苦労されて今がある方で、私も仕事で大きなストレスを抱えつつ今回の旅行に来たこともあり、真っ暗闇なのを良いことにこっそり泣きながら話に聞き入っていました。
5年前、ハワイ島のマウナケアに行った時は空気の薄さにヘロヘロでしたが、そんな私でも今回のツアーは全然平気でした。
初のマウイ島、最高でした！！！再訪するのは難しいですが、何とかもう一度参加したいです。
このツアーを検討中の方、防寒準備して行ってください！
※ちなみにこのツアーで立ち寄ることはありませんが、ラハイナのルースズクリスステーキは超オススメです！ガイドのヤマピーさんもオススメしてました（ワイキキにも何店舗かあります）。

I was really glad to meet our guide, Yama P. We had a wonderful time discussing not only Maui and Haleakalā but also various memorable topics that touched the heart. I was drawn in by Yama P's background and the inner conflicts he shared, which made me feel a strong sense of connection. Of course, the beautiful sunset and the breathtaking starry sky were also amazing. Weather can be a matter of luck, but I was fortunate to have clear skies and stunning views during my visit.

Our group consisted of four people: my spouse and I, along with another young couple, and the guide's wife participated as an assistant. The guide, likely with a wealth of experience, had everything meticulously planned and prepared, allowing us to enjoy a safe and pleasant time. We climbed to the summit at around 3,000 meters in about an hour and a half, making stops at souvenir shops and a supermarket to choose sushi bento for dinner (included in the price) to gradually acclimatize to the altitude.
On the day of the tour, we encountered light rain on the mountainside, but with the guide's skillful driving and cheerful explanations, we reached the summit, where we found a blue sky above the clouds. We avoided crowded tourist spots and enjoyed the sunset from a quieter location, savoring sushi bento along with warm Japanese tea. Afterward, we took turns looking through telescopes while the guide explained various stars and constellations.

For our honeymoon, we wanted to try the Haleakalā summit tour on Maui. We debated between the sunset + stargazing or sunrise, but since we wanted to get a good night's sleep and had a feeling that the sunset would be more beautiful, we chose that option.
The group size was just right, allowing us to see everyone's faces, and our guide was great at sharing stories, making the time pass without diminishing the excitement of the participants. It was also nice to receive recommendations on what to buy at the supermarkets and souvenir shops along the way.
The sunset was stunning, although I felt like the sun set a bit earlier than expected. Still, it was thoroughly enjoyable. However, the true highlight of the tour came afterward. In complete silence, when I looked up at the pitch-black sky for the first time, the awe I felt was indescribable. Surrounded by stars, we observed them through a telescope while receiving explanations about various constellations. It was quite cold at the summit, but they provided warm clothing, and I was so moved that I forgot about the chill, and time flew by.
I am grateful to our guide for their excellent storytelling and to have been blessed with good weather (it seems the participants from the previous day had a tough time due to poor weather).
On the way down from the summit, I fell asleep feeling a sense of satisfaction and emotion, wrapped in a relaxed mindset that life is too short to rush.
I think it would be wonderful to bring our parents next time. This was one of the few optional tours that left us very satisfied, and I highly recommend it for honeymoons (though it might be a bit tough with small children).
今回新婚旅行でマウイ島に行くにあたり、やってみたかったのがハレアカラ山頂ツアーでした。
サンセット+星空かサンライズで迷いましたが、夜はちゃんと寝たいし、なんとなくですがサンセットの方がきれいそうだなというくらいの気持ちで選びました。
参加人数も多すぎず、全体の顔も見渡せますしガイドさんのお話も上手で、車内でも参加者の楽しみな気持ちを減衰させることなく時間が過ぎていきました。
ところどころでよるスーパーやお土産屋さんでもどういったものがオススメかなど説明してもらえたのも良かったです。
サンセットもとてもきれいでしたが、少し日が落ちるのが早かったのかな？という印象ではありましたが十分堪能できました。
これだけでも比較的満足度は高かったのですが、このツアーの本領はこの後でした。
あたりは一切物音もしなくなり、完全に静まり返った中で初めて真っ暗闇の中空を見上げた時の感動は言葉では言い表すのが難しいほどのものでした。
あたり一面に広がる星に包まれ、いろんな星の説明を受けながら天体望遠鏡でその星を観察する。山頂はだいぶ寒かったですが、防寒具なども準備していただき、感動でそもそも寒さを忘れるほどであっという間に時間が過ぎていました。
終始上手にお話ししていだけたガイドさんへの感謝と、本当に天候にも恵まれ(前日参加の方々は天候に恵まれずつらいツアーとなったようです)た偶然に感謝感謝です。
山頂から降りる車の中は満足感と感動と、生き急いでも仕方ないよなというおおらかな気持ちに包まれながら寝てしまいました。
次は両家の両親を連れて行ってあげられたらすてきだなと思える、数少ないオプショナルツアーで非常に満足のいくものとなりました、新婚旅行などにオススメだと思います(小さい子連れだと少ししんどいかもしれません)。

It was truly a wonderful starry sky. I thought it would be cloudy on the day I participated, but above the clouds, it was clear, and I could see the Milky Way and shooting stars clearly. The Earth shadow appeared after sunset, and seeing the shadow of the Earth felt like a cleansing experience for my heart. While watching the stars and listening to the guide's stories, I was moved to tears. I heard it would be cold, so I layered up with sweatshirts and down jackets, which kept me warm enough to enjoy the night sky. Haleakalā had bad weather, so we couldn't see the sunset. However, I thought it was impressive how the guide skillfully found a spot for stargazing by slightly changing locations. The tour progressed smoothly, and I felt the guide was very capable. I'll try again next time for a revenge trip.

My husband and I participated together. The stars were beautiful. Yamapi's guidance was also excellent.
We arrived in Maui at 12:00. After picking up our luggage, it took 40 minutes by taxi to the hotel. Although our pickup was at 3:00 after check-in, we climbed Haleakalā on the first day, so I felt like we quickly got accustomed to Maui. It was wonderful from the very first day.

This was a tour I had been interested in for a long time, recommended by a senior colleague. It was my second time at Haleakalā.
The first time, I visited Maui for a day trip and drove there. I saw a sky full of stars, but since I didn't have any knowledge about stars and had to catch a flight back, I only looked at the stars for about two minutes while descending, thinking, "Wow, it's beautiful!" before quickly returning to the car.
This time, for my second visit to Haleakalā, I knew from the beginning that it would be a full moon, and I participated in the tour for the first time. 1回目は日帰りマウイ島でレンタカーで行きました。この時満天の星空を見ましたが、星の知識がなく、また帰りの飛行機の時間があった為、2分くらい下山途中に見て、あぁ綺麗！と感動して即車内に戻りました。
今回の2回目のハレアカラは、初めから満月だと分かっていてツアーに初参加。明るい星しか肉眼では見えませんが、望遠鏡で色々な星を見せてくれ、満月の月にミッキーをさがしたり、やはり星の知識がない私達は星の解説を聞けて勉強になりました。またガイドさんの話を聞いて心がリセットされました。色んなことを経験されてきた方からのお話は為になります！

I participated with three friends.
The process: Since there were participants coming from various resorts on the island, we took a welcoming car and met up with other participants at the meeting point.
After that, we stopped by a supermarket for dinner, where we bought souvenirs like coffee and almond chocolate at a cheaper price than ABC Mart, and then headed to Haleakalā!
During the journey, we climbed the mountain while listening to the guide's explanations and interesting stories.
We took a bathroom break along the way, and since we ascended gradually, I didn't really notice the changes in air pressure and oxygen levels!
Also, the scenery we saw while climbing was very beautiful, and I was taking pictures the whole time!
The summit was very cold, and without the provided warm clothing, it would have been impossible to go outside and enjoy the view.
At night, there were no streetlights at all, and since there were no guardrails on the mountain roads, those who came individually returned before sunset.
I got the impression that going individually is almost impossible.

その後、夕飯のためにスーパーによりますが、その時にコーヒーや、アーモンドチョコなどのお土産をABCマートよりも安く購入し、いざハレアカラへ！
道中はガイドさんの説明と、面白い話を聞きながら、山道を登って行きます。
途中、トイレ休憩をしながら、少しずつ登ったため、気圧、酸素濃度の変化もあまり気にならずにすみました！
また、登ってる間に見える景色がとても綺麗で、ずっと写真を撮っていました！
山頂はとても寒く、用意されている防寒具がなければ外に出て景色を眺めるのは無理だな。という感じ。
また夜になると全く街灯がなく、さらに山道にガードレールなどもないため、個人でいらしてた方々はサンセット前に帰っていました。
個人で行くのはほぼ無理だなという印象です。
サンセット、星空は今まで見たことない程の綺麗さで、ずっと見上げてました(*^_^*)
また鑑賞中はガイドさんの説明もあります。
友達達も、大満足で、参加して本当に良かったです。
このツアーのために、わざわざマウイ島に行きたくなるようなツアーでした。

A tour where you can feel the Earth★
The sunset and stars are so beautiful that it's overwhelming.
The journey to the tour is relaxed, with stops at the supermarket, Krispy Kreme, and picking up dinner♪
We also bought souvenirs at the supermarket we visited at that time.
It's cold at the summit, so I recommend dressing warmly, but they provide extra clothing and blankets for you.
It was wonderful to come together as a group to watch the sunset and stars!
This tour allows you to reflect on yourself and your life in the great outdoors.

I participated alone. It was my first time on Maui (over 10 years ago...), and the starry sky I saw at night after stopping the car was so beautiful that I decided to splurge and definitely go for this tour! The pickup arrived on time, and we had donut time around Kahului. I didn't hold back and had two! Choosing sushi at Foodland supermarket was crucial; I had to make the right choice! I bought two of the recommended Mauna Loa Coffee macadamia nuts for $6, and they were a hit at work, so definitely buy them if you find them! We gradually climbed the mountain, and the guide kept us entertained the whole time, making it enjoyable even alone. I got to see breathtaking views, eat sushi, and the starry sky was truly magnificent. It was moving!!! The explanation about the stars was professional and a bit difficult, though... I feel like it would have been even more amazing to share this experience with someone. I wish I could have brought my mom! Thank you for the wonderful tour.
一人での参加です。初めてのマウイ島で(１０年以上の昔ですが。。。)夜車を止めて見た星空が、とてもキレイだったので、奮発して絶対このツアーだっと思いできめました！
お迎えも時間通り来ていただき、カフルイあたりでドーナツタイムです。遠慮しないで２個頂いちゃいました！ フードランドのスーパーでお寿司選び。ここは外すと大変だ！ おすすめしていただいたマウナロアコーヒーのマカダミアナッツ試しに２個＄６だったので２個だけ買ったのですが、職場でとても好評で絶対見つけたら買い！ですよー 山も少しずつ登って行ってその間もずっとガイドしていただき１人でも楽しかったです。絶景も見れてお寿司も食べて本当に満天の星空でした。感動ですよー！！！ 星の解説はプロっぽいお話しなので難しいですが。。
１人できたのももったいないぐらい誰かと共有出来れば更に感動だと思います。
おかんを連れて来たかったなあ！！！ ステキなツアーありがとうございました。

This time, I arrived at the location and signed up for this tour. I suddenly decided to go to Haleakalā after arriving, so I didn't have any warm clothing, and I chose this tour for the simple reason that it included warm clothing.
As a result, I was very satisfied!
I was surprised to find that almost everyone participating in the tour was a fan of the guide, Yamapi. Ignorance can be terrifying; it turns out that Yamapi is quite a celebrity. I was really surprised to learn that everyone comes to Maui to join Yamapi's stargazing tour—he's incredibly popular. And I was lucky!
I've been on various tours before, but this one was truly great. I want to go back to Maui to participate in this tour again.
今回、現地に着いてこのツアーに申し込みました。現地に着いてから急にハレアカラへ行こうと決めたので、防寒着等を持っておらず、防寒着付きという安易な理由でこのツアーに決めました。
結果、大満足！
何の情報もなく、このツアーに参加してビックリしたこと。それは参加してるほとんどの人がガイドの山ピーさんのファンということ。無知とは恐ろしいもので、この山ピーさん、かなりの有名人だそう。山ピーさんの星空ツアーに参加したくて皆さんマウイへ来てるというから本当にびっくり、大人気。そして私はラッキー♪
今まで色んなツアーへ行ってきましたが、本当によかったです。またマウイへこのツアーに参加しに行きたいと思います。
