It was my first time in Maui. I remember feeling very relieved to have a Japanese tour in Maui, where Japanese is hardly spoken. I heard many stories related to Maui. The sunset was truly beautiful, and I was amazed by the countless shining stars. They explained each one through a telescope, and I was able to confirm them. It was very cold, but they lent us warm clothing, which made me feel at ease. I definitely want to show this to my family. On the way back, everyone was exhausted and sleeping.

初マウイでした。日本語がほとんど通じないマウイで日本語のツアー。とてもホッとしたのを覚えてます。マウイにまつわる話をたくさん聞かせていただきました。夕陽がほんとにきれいでした。そして、輝くたくさんの星に感激しました。望遠鏡で1つずつ説明してくださり、確認しました。とても、寒かったですが防寒着も貸してくださり安心でした。家族にもぜひ、見せてやりたいです。帰りは疲れきって、みんなが寝ていました。

It's been mentioned many times, but I think those who are reading this and are inexperienced might not fully grasp it, so I’ll write it down even if it overlaps with other reviews.
"You should participate in this tour while it's available."
"There are only three companies that can conduct stargazing tours: American, Korean, and this Yamapi."
"The entry restrictions for the tour are strict, so you should apply immediately as there's no guarantee you can participate."
First of all, Yamapi mentioned that they might only be able to continue for a few more years, so this wonderful experience is something you can only have now. Among the three companies with operating permits, you can only choose between the American company, which has just started a few years ago, or Yamapi's tour, excluding the rather careless Korean company. However, reaching the summit at 3055m (even by car) is more challenging than you might imagine. There is no more comfortable tour than Yamapi's, which has over 3000 successful runs and exceptional hospitality.
Also, even though it's a tour company, there are limits on the number of people they can take, so booking early is wise.
As for the tour content, it’s not just about being driven to the summit to casually watch the sunset and stars. Along the way, they explain about the towns of Lahaina and Kahului as you ascend the mountain. To avoid altitude sickness, they stop at a donut shop and make multiple restroom breaks, showing great attention to detail. Everyone buys a bento, and for some reason, the timing for the sunset is perfect, which is truly moving. You can also see the green flash, and Yamapi takes photos of each group. It's recommended to bring a digital camera rather than just a smartphone. Enjoy waiting for the night while eating your bento and stargazing. It’s not just about looking up at the night sky. The stargazing experience with two professional telescopes and explanations exceeds all expectations. It’s something you absolutely must see and hear. On the way back, they safely navigate the dark, steep roads.
As I write this, I feel like I’m not conveying the greatness of this tour at all. Please participate, see, hear, and be impressed and moved. Your reason for coming to Maui will be significantly enhanced!

何度も書かれていることですが、おそらくこれを読んでいる未経験者の方々にはピンと来ていないだろうと思いますので、他のレビューと重複するかもしれませんが書いておきます。
『このツアーがあるうちに参加しておくべき』
『星空ツアーが催行できる会社は米国系･韓国系とこのヤマピーさんの三社のみ』
『ツアーの入山規制が厳しくて、必ず参加できるとは限らないからすぐに申し込むべき』
まず、ヤマピーさんもあと数年しか続けられないと話されていますので、この素晴らしい体験が出来るのも今しかないってことです。催行許可を持っている三社の中で、最もいい加減な韓国系は除いて、まだ始めて数年の米国系 or ヤマピーさんのツアーどちらかに参加するしかありませんが、3055mへの登頂は（車で行くとはいえ）想像以上に厳しいのが事実。催行回数3000回を超えるヤマピーさんの経験とホスピタリティに勝る快適なツアーはありません。
また、ツアー会社といえど入山させることが出来る人数には制約上限りがありますので、早め早めの予約が吉です。
肝心のツアー内容ですが、単に車で山頂まで連れて行ってくれてサンセットと星空をぶらぶらと眺めて帰ってくるわけではありません。道中、ラハイナやカフルイの町を解説しながら山の中腹へ。高山病を避けるためにドーナツショップへ立ち寄り、トイレに複数回立ち寄る細やかな気配り。お弁当をみんなで買って、何故かタイミングバッチリのサンセットに感動。グリーンフラッシュも見られますし、ヤマピーさんが一組ずつ写真撮影してくれます。スマホよりはデジカメを持参することがおすすめ。お弁当を食べながら楽しく闇夜を待って、星空鑑賞。ただ夜空を見上げるだけじゃありません。プロ用の望遠鏡を2台使っての解説付き星空鑑賞は期待も想像も軽く超えてきます。絶対見るべき、聞くべきです。帰り道も真っ暗な急な坂道を安全運転でしっかり届けて回ってくれます。
書きながら思いましたが、まったく伝わらない気がしますね、このツアーの素晴らしさが。ほんと参加して、見て、聞いて、感心して感動してみて下さい。マウイ島へ来た意味が格段にアップします！

The weather on the day was not good from the morning, but by the evening, the sun began to peek through the clouds at the summit. The massive crater towards the Big Island was shrouded in gas, so we couldn't see it in its entirety, but in the opposite direction, the orange sunset slowly spread over the sea of clouds far below, briefly glowing green before disappearing. The people watching it appeared like silhouettes against the orange screen. Once it was completely enveloped in twilight, we descended a little from the summit and were treated to a starry sky. The stars shone overwhelmingly, covering the night sky, and the Milky Way flowed across the vast sky like a silver river. After nodding in agreement with my partner, we looked through two telescopes at the Large Magellanic Cloud, Jupiter, and Saturn surrounded by its elongated rings. It was truly an extraordinary experience. Thank you to our driver who explained various things along the way, including Haleakalā and Maui.

当日の天候が朝から良くなかったのですが夕方近くから日差しが見えてきて頂上では雲の隙間から太陽がのぞいてきました。ハワイ島方向の巨大クレーターは、ガスがかかって全体を見ることはできませんでしたが、その反対方向にはオレンジの夕日が足元から広がる雲海の遥か先にゆっくりと、最後に一瞬緑に光って消えていきます。それを見守る人々はオレンジのスクリーンに映る影絵の様相。すっかり夕闇に包まれたころ頂上から少し降りたところで星空を見せてくれました。圧倒的に夜空を覆い尽くして輝く星々、大空を大河のように横切って流れる銀河はまさに銀の河、天の川。「こんなの子どもの頃に見たきりだ」と相方とうなづきあった後、二台の望遠鏡で見せてくれた大マゼラン星雲、木星や縦長の輪に囲まれた土星。
まさに非日常な出来事、体験でした。ハレヤカラやマウイなど様々な事を道中説明してくれたドライバーさん、ありがとうございました。

I signed up with my 84-year-old mother. Although she is healthy, I was worried about whether she would be okay reaching the summit, but our guide, Yama-chan, welcomed us warmly without any signs of discomfort.

Yama-chan's thoughtfulness, the enjoyable conversations on the way to the summit, and the clear and detailed explanations during the sunset viewing and stargazing provided us not only with the beauty of the stars but also with opportunities to reflect on various aspects of life through nature.

This tour requires a permit, and it seems that only 11 people can participate in one vehicle. The other participants were also wonderful people, and we all took turns using the two telescopes without any fuss, marveling at the stars multiple times.

I would love to experience stargazing with Yama-chan again while enjoying our conversations!!!

84歳の母と申し込みました。元気な母ですが山頂まで大丈夫か心配していましたが、ガイドの山ちゃんは全くいやな顔をしないでとても歓迎してくれました。
とにかく山ちゃんの心配り、山頂へ向かう道中までの楽しい話、夕日観賞・星空観にはわかりやすく丁寧な説明、そして星の美しさだけでなく自然を通していろいろ人生を考える機会を与えてくれました。
このツアーには認可が必要で車1台に乗れる11人しか参加することが出来ないそうです。
参加された方もすごくいい人たちで二台の天体望遠鏡も取り合うことなくみんなで順番に感激しながら何度も観ました。
またぜひ山ちゃんと楽しくお話をしながらきれいな星を観てみたい！！！

This was my first time on Maui, and since my previous stargazing experience on Hawaii Island was very impressive, I decided to participate in this tour, which had received high ratings.

We barely made it in time for the sunset due to road conditions, but I was glad to capture the beautiful gradient of the sky in photos. The stargazing I was looking forward to was somewhat limited because the moon was bright, but I was able to see the craters of the moon through the telescope and take pictures, which was nice.

However, I found it a bit uncomfortable that the seating arrangement in the car remained the same throughout the trip. Those sitting in spacious areas could relax comfortably, while those in tighter spots had to place their bags on their laps and were in close contact with the person next to them, making it hard to relax. I wish there could have been a seat change for the outbound and return trips or that a slightly larger vehicle could have been used to accommodate luggage better.

初めてのマウイ島であり，以前のハワイ島での星空観測がとても印象的であったこと，ツアー自体の評価がとても高かったことから参加させていただきました．
夕日鑑賞は道路状況上，ぎりぎり間に合った感じではありましたが，きれいな空のグラデーションを写真に収めることができて，良かったです．
楽しみにしていた星空は，月齢の関係上，とても空が明るかったので星はやや少なめでしたが，その分月のクレーターを望遠鏡で見たり，写真にとることができてよかったです．

ただ，車の席がずっと同じ場所で，広いところに座っている人は車内でゆっくりくつろげ，狭いところに座っていた人は，荷物を自分の膝の上にのせながら，隣の人にがつがつと接触してとてもくつろげるような感じではありませんでした．
出来れば，行きと帰りで席替えをしたり，荷物を置けるようなもう少し大きな車を使用したりすることができなかったのかな，と残念に思いました．

The schedule was good, and I didn't suffer from altitude sickness, even as an older person whose body responds more slowly. The sunset and starry sky were also beautiful. As for my thoughts outside of the main topic, I first stopped by a donut shop, but it's a place that's become boring even in Japan. Personally, I found it unremarkable. The souvenir shops I visited along the way were nice.

Thank you for participating in the star tour. There is one reason we stop by the donut shop: it's to prevent altitude sickness. If you ascend to 3,055 meters on an empty stomach, the thin air and different atmospheric pressure compared to sea level can make you feel unwell. Eating something beforehand tends to help prevent this. Taking breaks several times on the way to the summit also helps in preventing altitude sickness.

On the night of the waxing crescent moon, the moonlight had little effect, allowing us to fully enjoy the starry sky. The views of *** and *** through the GPS-tracking telescope were particularly impressive. I am a Sagittarius, but thanks to Yamapi's careful guidance, I was able to see them for the first time. I would like to participate again when I visit Maui.

I participated in this tour during my first trip to Maui. The day of the tour had perfect conditions with a new moon, no wind, and a completely clear sky. Additionally, our guide, Yamapi, was wonderful, and his stories while we gazed at the stars were inspiring and made me feel motivated to keep going. If I come back to Maui, I would love to join this tour again.

Eight years ago, I traveled with my wife and participated in this stargazing tour, which left a strong impression on me. This time, my daughter wanted to see it, so she joined us after traveling from Oahu. She was thrilled by the sunset above the clouds. However, it was unfortunate that the brightness of the moon due to its phase was too strong, and we couldn't see the truly beautiful starry sky. Mr. Yamauchi's guidance was excellent.

This time, my daughter and I signed up for this highly rated tour as it was our first time on Maui. At Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, we enjoyed freshly made, warm, delicious doughnuts. We decided not to take motion sickness medication since we would be taking breaks on the way to the summit, but my daughter, who is prone to motion sickness, felt a bit nauseous, so I thought it would have been better to take the medicine just in case. Although there were many clouds and we couldn't see the sunset, the colors of the clouds and sky were very beautiful. During the stargazing, we were able to see many stars through a large telescope, including the rings of Saturn and the bands of Jupiter. Later, while listening to our guide's wonderful stories, I had to interrupt to go to the restroom, but I was glad there was a restroom at the summit. I think it's reassuring for those who need to be close to a restroom. This was the best tour I've ever been on, with everything provided, including jackets, tea, and chairs. We also visited the steak and dim sum places that we were recommended, and they were very delicious.

今回娘と2人で、初マウイ島ということで、評価も高いこのツアーに申し込みました。
クリスピークリームドーナツでは、出来立てのホカホカの美味しいドーナツをいだきました。
山頂まで、休み休み行くということで酔い止めは飲まずにいきましたが、酔いやすい娘はちょっとよってしまったので、念のため薬を飲んで行けばよかったと思いました。
雲が多く、夕陽は見れませんでしたが、雲や空の色はとてもきれいでした。
星空観測では、大きな天体望遠鏡で、たくさんの星をみることができ、土星の輪や、木星の線までしっかり見えました。
その後、ガイドさんのとてもいいお話を伺っている途中、トイレに行きたくなり話の腰を折ってしまいましたが、山頂にもトイレがあって良かったです。トイレが近い方にも安心だと思います。
上着やお茶、椅子等、至れり尽くせりの今までで一番のとてもよいツアーでした。
また、教えてもらったステーキやヤムチャのお店も行きました。とても美味しかったです。

It was a tour where I could feel the thoughtful care in every detail. They gradually increased the altitude while allowing us to rest, so everyone in the group was energetic. It was great to receive warm clothing, gloves, and hot tea.

The sunset felt like it was sinking into the clouds, but the beauty of the starry sky afterward was beyond words! The tour seems to be fully booked continuously, so if you’re not careful, you might miss out. The price is slightly higher than the English tours, but it’s definitely worth it.

日本語で細やかな心遣いが感じられるツアーでした。少しずつ高度を上げて休みながら山頂まで行ってくださるので、参加メンバー全員元気でした。防寒着や手袋、暖かいお茶まで戴けて良かったです。
サンセットは雲に沈む感じでしたが、その後の星空の素晴らしかったことは筆舌に尽くしがたい❗モノでした。ツアーは満席続きらしくのんびりしていたら、取れなかったです。英語ツアーよりも多少価格は高くなりますが、絶対お得です

I visited seven years ago and was moved once again!!! This time, the season was great, and both the sunset and starry sky were breathtaking.

I participated in the Haleakalā tour for the first time with my 13-year-old daughter.

We took regular breaks, including coffee breaks, while climbing, which made us feel at ease. Women don’t have to worry about restroom facilities.

On the day of the tour, it was a new moon, and the city lights were blocked by a thick sea of clouds, creating perfect conditions. We were able to enjoy the best sunset and a sky full of stars.

Mr. Yamauchi's guiding and talks were enjoyable, and we had an unforgettable day.

I highly, highly recommend the Maui All Stars sunset viewing and stargazing tour!

途中コーヒーブレイクなどこまめに休憩を取りながら登っていくので安心です。
女性はトイレの心配もないです。

The sun sinking into the sea of clouds was breathtaking, and the colors of the sky after it set were so beautiful that I couldn't take my eyes off it. It was divine and incredibly moving!!! I could clearly see the Mauna Kea Observatory on the summit of the Big Island to the south. The starry sky was so close and filled with countless stars, and the Milky Way was vividly visible. I was overwhelmed with emotion as I looked at Jupiter, Saturn, and the Milky Way through the telescope!!!

雲海に沈んでいく太陽、沈んだ後の空の色も美しくて目が離せず、神々しくて大感動!!! 南側にハワイ島山頂マウナケア天文台がしっかり見えました。

From sunset to the starry sky. It was an experience beyond imagination, where I could truly feel myself in the universe rather than just on Earth!

Seeing my seven-year-old son and husband discussing the grandeur of the cosmos became a lifelong memory for our family.

I highly recommend this for families with elementary and middle school children.

And everything was thanks to our wonderful guide, Yama-chan. He was kind, incredibly knowledgeable, entertaining, and even performed magic tricks, making him a favorite among the kids.

Yama-chan, who has led tours to Haleakalā 3,000 times, felt somewhat extraterrestrial!

We'll definitely come back!

There are many places where the starry sky is beautiful.

Many tours are not recommended because:
1) They are superficial and forced. For the guide, it's a daily job, but for customers, it's a rare and precious time.
2) There are many guides who are self-absorbed and boastful, often far removed from the customer's perspective.

However, the tour by Mr. Yamauchi, the owner of Maui All Stars, was wonderful and thoroughly pursued customer satisfaction. The sunset at Haleakalā and the starry sky were even more dazzling, captivated by the Yamauchi world.

This is a highly recommended tour that you absolutely must go on when you visit Maui. Seeing the scenery that I had only seen in photos with my own eyes was truly moving. The stories were also very interesting, making for a fun day.

I quickly made a reservation for the rib steak recommended by Yamapi and ordered all the recommended dishes! Everything was really delicious. Thank you very much.

In addition to regular sightseeing, I was able to enjoy not only delicious restaurant menus but also learn about places that weren't so good (laughs) and many little tips that I wouldn't have gotten from guidebooks or on my own, allowing me to have a wonderful time. The weather was nice, and although the moon was bright, I wasn't able to see as many stars as I had hoped, but the sky was still beautifully clear. It was evident that our guide, Mr. Yamauchi, was passionately dedicated to the tour, and I had a very enjoyable time. I also took many great photos. The sushi I bought at the supermarket was delicious as well. I would like to come back during the new moon next time.

普通の観光以外に美味しいお店のメニューだけでなく、美味しくないお店や(笑)、プチ情報もたくさん教えて頂けて、ガイドブックや自分たちだけでは得られない楽しい時間を過す事ができました。
お天気も良く、月が明るかったので星は思っていたよりは見られませんでしたが十分に綺麗な空でした。
ガイドの山内さんが熱い思いでやられているツアーなのが伝わってきて
とても良い時間を過ごせました。いい写真もたくさん撮って頂きました。
スーパーで買ったお寿司も美味しかったです。次は新月の時に来てみたいです。

It was truly a wonderful and memorable trip. I couldn't believe we could drive up to over 3,000 meters! I felt that our guide, Mr. Yamauchi, who must have climbed Haleakalā many times before, was giving his all to entertain us each time. He explained the climate, weather, and history with professional knowledge, mixing in entertainment elements so that even a novice like me could understand.

It was a half-day that never got boring. The choice of background music was also lovely, adding to the extraordinary atmosphere and making the long drive feel engaging rather than dull. To be able to see the stripes of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn—it's a cliché, but it really makes you feel how vast the world is.

This is the number one optional tour I've participated in so far! The guide, Yamapi, really conveyed his desire for the participants to enjoy themselves, and I was moved by his hospitality. I believe this is a tour he has done many times, but I felt he delivered the best performance every time. I think that's truly amazing.

Haleakalā has an elevation similar to that of Mount Fuji, so I was a bit worried about altitude sickness, but we ascended the mountain by car with breaks along the way, which minimized the physical strain, and I had no problems at all.

The sunset viewed from the grand panorama, the shadow of the Earth, and the starry sky were beyond what can be captured in photos; the scenery I saw with my own eyes is something I will never forget for the rest of my life.

After stargazing, I felt my heart was cleansed while listening to Yamapi's stories over a warm cup of tea. Since this trip was a turning point in my life, it resonated deeply with me, and I felt motivated to keep moving forward.

Considering the history of the stars, I want to live my life to the fullest without regrets, even if it's just for the blink of an eye! I hope to bring my family here someday. Thank you so much, Yamapi!

Star Tour

Beautiful sunset, earth blue, and a starry sky! (It was close to a new moon) It was a very satisfying tour! Since it was a tour where we could move around by car, it was fine not to wear trekking shoes. I didn't imagine it would get that cold, but even with a shirt, hoodie, ultra-light down jacket, fleece-lined tights, a stole, the jacket I borrowed, gloves, and a blanket, I still felt cold. They mentioned it was good that there was no wind, but if you don't need it, you can leave everything in the car, so if you're sensitive to the cold, it's better to bring some extra layers. You can take really beautiful photos with a DSLR or mirrorless camera!

Since it's a natural experience, I can't guarantee the conditions will be perfect, but if you're going to Maui, I think this is a tour you absolutely should participate in. I definitely want to come back again.

綺麗な夕焼け、アースブルー、満点の星空！(新月に近かったため)大満足のツアーでした！
車で全て移動できるツアーなのでトレッキングシューズじゃなくても大丈夫でした。
そこまで寒くなることを想像できずにいましたが、シャツ、パーカー、ウルトラライトダウン、裏起毛のタイツ、ストール、お借りしたジャケットに手袋、毛布でも寒さを感じました。風がなくてまだよかったとの話でしたが、いらなければ車に全て置いておけるので寒いのが苦手な方は持って行った方がいいです。
一眼やミラーレスだと本当に綺麗な写真が撮れます！

自然のことなので、コンディション良くしっかり見られるかわかりませんが、マウイ島へ行くのであれば、絶対に参加すべきツアーだと思いました。また絶対に来たいです。

The sunset is similar, but it's great that the view of the starry sky is wider than at Mauna Kea. The equipment was also good. Additionally, the guide's individual knowledge is incredible. I thought some of the stories about the guide's life were a bit excessive, though.

On the day of the event, the wind was calm, and there were no clouds, creating the perfect conditions. We leisurely made our way to the summit, taking multiple bathroom breaks. At Foodland, we received recommendations from our guide, Yama-P, and it felt like we were on a little supermarket tour, which was fun! We ended up buying a lot of recommended items. We also chose our sushi for dinner there. As we climbed to the summit, we enjoyed listening to Yama-P's stories. He took us to a less crowded spot for the sunset. We enjoyed our time for about 30 minutes until the sunset. After reaching the summit, we took pictures and received explanations while it was still slightly bright. It gets quite chilly at the summit, so don’t forget to dress warmly! Afterward, we descended a bit and finally did some stargazing! While they prepared chairs, we enjoyed the dinner we bought from the supermarket in the car. It was nice to have it in a warm setting. We also had some warm tea.

When we stepped outside and looked up, we were amazed by the stunning night sky! The number of stars visible to the naked eye was unlike anything I had ever seen before, spanning 180 degrees... this was a first-time experience for me. It was truly a natural planetarium! It was beautifully set up. We also used a telescope to see many stars that couldn't be seen with the naked eye.

Other stargazing tours often require standing or viewing in the cold, which can be tough for someone like me who isn't fond of the cold. However, this tour allowed us to sit in chairs, and they even provided warm blankets and gloves, making it a thoroughly enjoyable experience without any strain!

当日は風が少なく、雲もなく最高のコンディションでした。何度もトイレ休憩を挟みながらのんびり山頂へ向かいます。途中で寄ってくれるFoodlandでは山ピーさんお勧めの物を教えて貰えて、スーパーのツアーをして頂けたようで楽しかったです！お勧めを沢山買ってしまいました。夜ご飯になるお寿司もそこで自分達で選びました。山頂到着まで山ピーさんのお話を聞きながらまったり登ります。サンセットは人の少ないスポットに連れて行ってくれます。サンセットまでの約30分間それぞれの時間を楽しみました。サンセット後はまず山頂へ。まだ薄明るい中で写真を撮ったり説明を受けます。山頂はやはりぐんと冷え込みますので、厚着をお忘れなく！その後また少し降り、最後に星空観測です！椅子などを準備して頂いている間に、スーパーで買った夕食を車の中で頂きました。暖かい中で頂けるのは嬉しかったです。温かいお茶も頂きました。
外に出て、上を見上げパッと目を開けた時には感動の夜空が広がっていました！今まで見たことのない星の数が肉眼で見れます。それも180度…こんな体験は初めてです。まさに天然プラネタリウム=天プラ！上手に仕上がってました。笑
望遠鏡も使って肉眼では見れない星も沢山見させて頂きました。
他の星空観測ツアーは立ったままみたり、寒い中見たりと、寒さが苦手な私には星を楽しみたい反面酷な時間でもあったのですが、このツアーは椅子に座りながら、温かい毛布と手袋まで下さり、無理なく楽しめる大満足のツアーでした！

I initially considered going by rental car, but it was definitely the right choice to sign up for the tour. The continuous curves and some roads without guardrails are safer to leave to the professionals. My 7-year-old and 11-year-old participated as well, and there were no issues since we took breaks and ascended slowly. For those who are prone to motion sickness, it's advisable to take medication in advance and ensure you get plenty of sleep. The tour content is as others have described, and I can only say that Mr. Yamauchi's guidance was outstanding. This is definitely a recommended tour if you go to Maui.

当初レンタカーで行くことも考えましたがツアーに申し込んで正解でした　カーブの連続で一部ガードレールもない道はプロにお任せした方が安全です　7歳と11歳の子供も参加しましたが休憩を入れながらゆっくり登って行くので問題ありません 車酔いに弱い方はあらかじめ薬を飲んで睡眠をしっかり取っておくと良いでしょう ツアー内容は他の方が書かれている通りで、山内さんのガイドは素晴らしいの一言　マウイ行ったら絶対におすすめのツアーです
