Yoshi is amazing! He is very thoughtful and came prepared. I went to Haleakala for sunset and then went for stargazing. He is very knowledgeable and explained a lot about stars to us using laser & telescope. He gave us donut, tea, blanket, gloves, jacket, and candy. It was amazing!!! He is very kind and friendly. I definitely recommended him to everyone.

Amazing stargazing trip!

This tour is absolutely worth it! Yoshi is tour owner and tour guide with over 20 yrs experience! His tour is perfect for those who don’t want to drive up for their first time in the dark and windy road (like the other tour). Everything was provided as described- and the arctic jackets were a must have because it was freezing and windy! Loved the hot tea provided too! Yoshi is super knowledgeable about the stars and with his telescopes we were able to see the beautiful stars. Oh and the sunset was absolutely terrific too! Definitely worth taking this tour!

We were fortunate enough to have had a new moon and clear sky up on Haleakalā back in September. We had breathtaking views of Milky Way, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, the Andromeda galaxy, and much more thanks to our amazing guide, Yoshi! Yoshi brought us a box of donuts and served us hot tea throughout the night. We were a bit fearful of driving down from the summit in the dark, but Yoshi led the way and made us feel very safe. This was easily one of our most memorable experiences during our visit to Maui and highly recommend it!

Absolutely amazing!

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Maui! First you get to drive up 10k feet up Haleakala and view amazing landscapes, be above the clouds and then watch the sunset. Guide, Yoshi (not sure if spelling correctly) was amazing! Has been doing this tour for 20 years. Very laid back, knowledgeable, and offers up various spots for photos. He has very good equipment for star gazing. He sets everything up, provides winter jackets and even coffee and tea. We got to see Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Andromeda galaxy and much more. Would recommend to anyone! We spent about 1 hour of the tour star gazing and other tours were already gone while we were still up there. Absolutely amazing!

In August, my family of four participated. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were no other participants, just us. We received a notification that the weather on the scheduled day was deteriorating, so we had to change our arrival to the following day. Thanks to that, we were able to see a beautiful sunset.

During the stargazing afterward, it was very enjoyable to listen to Yamapi's explanations while looking at the surface of the moon. It was a bit disappointing that the full moon was too bright, making it hard to see the stars clearly, but we were able to feel the power of the moon!

It became the best memory of our time in Maui!

8月に家族4人で参加しました。コロナ禍という事もあり、他の参加者はおらず私達だけでした。予定していた日の天候が崩れると連絡を頂き、急きょ到着翌日へ変更となりました。おかげ様で美しいサンセットを見ることができました。

Most people do the sunrise, but I would have to argue the sunset tour lives up close to the the sunrise. The stargazing was amazingly clear on our tour! The guides know what to present and really give some awesome detail of the history of Haleakala. We had a 5 year old and she loved the experience of being so close to the night sky above. I would recommend dressing warm, for you may get hot when the sun is setting but won't regret it at night, it definitely gets cold up there!
Also, BRING FOOD. They are not lieing, it is a long night ahead of you and you will be definitely sad if you get hungry because not much is open once the tour is done.

This was the most moving tour I've ever experienced in my life! Choosing the sunset instead of the sunrise was definitely the right decision! I was able to fully enjoy the calm sky without any wind. I learned so much about the wonders of the starry world, and it felt like my family and I absorbed energy from Maui's nature. The next morning, we were all surprised to feel as if our hearts had been cleansed. I truly felt the power of this spot, and Haleakalā is my number one place I want to return to in Hawaii! First of all, I want to say that if you have the chance, don't hesitate to go! They take you gradually to help you acclimate to avoid altitude sickness, and along the way, they stop at supermarkets and souvenir shops to share recommendations.

A sunset above the clouds is something you rarely get to see. It was so moving that it wrapped me in silence and made me forget my daily life as time flowed slowly. After that, we were treated to a sky full of stars. The constellations were clearly visible, and countless stars spread across the sky. Fortunately, I even saw a shooting star. Unfortunately, I couldn't capture it on my phone, but the surprise of looking up is unforgettable. I recommend bringing a camera if you want to take photos.

And above all, the thoughtful care and entertaining, educational talk from our guide, Yama-P, were also highlights of this tour! Even though we were all strangers, we became friends. I finished the tour with a warm feeling and would love to go again.

Since we were climbing over 3000 meters, we took breaks along the way to prevent altitude sickness, and the timing of the breaks was perfect; I felt completely fine. Once we rose above the clouds, the rain that had been falling stopped (which is expected since we were above the clouds), and the view was absolutely breathtaking. While I was taking photos, the sunset began. The moment the sun set was indescribable. After watching the sunset, we enjoyed stargazing with explanations. Yamapi's explanations were a bit fast, and I sometimes couldn't catch everything, but I was captivated by the stories. The discussions weren't just about the stars; they also touched on global issues, the future of the Earth, and the reality that dangerous things are likely to happen, which was sobering. Hearing about his personal experiences and his parents brought tears to my eyes. I found myself crying again during the background music in the car on the way back. It felt like the rigid parts of me had melted away. This tour really makes you reflect on important things. Yamapi is a wonderful entertainer. I hope many people get to participate in this tour.

日本語ガイドという事で安心して参加出来ました。
標高3000m以上登るので高山病予防のため、途中休憩を挟み山頂まで上がりましたが、休憩が絶妙で、全く大丈夫でした。雲の上に上がると降っていた雨もあがり(雲の上だから当然？)視界全てが絶景で、撮影している間に夕陽が落ちてきました。太陽が沈む瞬間は何とも言えない気持ちでした。夕陽を見た後は説明付きの星空鑑賞。やまぴーさんの説明は早口でたまに聞き取れなかったけど話に聞き入ってしまいました。星空の事だけでなく、世界の事、地球のこれから、危険な事は起きていくだろうという話は現実的で身が引き締まる思いになりました。ご自身の体験談、親御さんの事など…話を聞いていたら涙が溢れてきました。帰りの車内のBGMにまた涙が出て号泣。自分の中の凝り固まった部分が溶けたような感じでした。大切な事を考えさせてくれるツアーです。やまぴーさんは素晴らしいエンターテイナーです。沢山の方がこのツアーに参加されるといいなぁと思います。

I was torn between choosing the sunset or the sunrise, and I decided on this tour with a Japanese guide. This was a great decision.

On the way to Haleakalā, we enjoyed various stories about Maui and were introduced to affordable and rare souvenirs, making the journey to the summit fly by without a dull moment.

Once we reached the summit, the seamless explanations continued, and we efficiently took photos in groups without missing the magic hour shutter opportunities.

During the stargazing, we were provided with chairs, gloves, blankets, and warm barley tea, which was greatly appreciated. It was amazing to clearly observe the lunar surface through a high-powered telescope!

Compared to a similar tour I participated in on the Big Island, the level of excitement was completely different. Listening to the guide, Mr. Yamauchi, share his heartfelt stories while gazing at the stars was a touching experience I hadn't had in a while. I hope this tour continues for as long as possible.

This is a tour guided by "Yamapy-san," whom I had been watching on a certain TV program for several years! The excitement began the moment they picked us up at the hotel! It was indeed a popular tour, and the bus was full, with some participants joining for the second time.

We enjoyed watching the sunset from the summit of Haleakalā, and we were able to take wonderful photos! The stargazing experience allowed us to glimpse Yamapy-san's life and character, and I found myself in tears while gazing at the stars. I felt it was something to share with a loved one.

The "Pineapple Snow" chocolate I bought at the Kula Marketplace we stopped at during the tour was incredibly delicious! Yamapy-san provided detailed recommendations for shops and souvenirs, which were very helpful.

On the way back, soothing music played on the bus. After experiencing various thoughtful touches and hospitality, I returned to the hotel with a warm feeling in my heart.

It was the rainy season, and with the cloudy weather, I had almost given up on seeing the sunset and the starry sky, but I was able to enjoy both during the breaks in the clouds. Unfortunately, it wasn't a completely clear starry sky, but even with all the haze, I could see some stars, which made me think how beautiful the sky must be when the weather is good. I definitely want to come back for a revenge trip.

The guide quickly showed us the stars through a telescope, along with easy-to-understand explanations, and shared various experiences, reminding us that we are all the same Earthlings in this vast universe. The guide had previously been a manager for a super BIG band! During the trip, he didn't mention anything about that, but on the way back, my husband wondered if the participant who was chatting with the guide might be a band member. When we arrived at the hotel, he asked the guide, and it turned out to be true! Thank you for such a valuable experience.

僅かな雲の切れ間から見えた星々を、判り易い解説とともに望遠鏡で手早く見せて頂けたこと、壮大な宇宙の中ではみんな同じ地球人であることなど、様々な経験をされてこられたガイドさんのお話しは、楽しくまた学びのある内容でした。かつて超BIGなバンドのマネージャーをされていたというガイドさん！行程中のお話しでは一切そういった内容には触れられていなかったのですが、帰りの車中で”ガイドさんと仲良くお話しをされてる参加者の方は、もしかしてバンドメンバーの方？”と思った主人が、ホテル到着の際ガイドさんに伺ったところ判明！！！とても貴重な体験をさせて頂きありがとうございました。

At the meeting point, we joined a family from the south, and the six of us first went to a supermarket to buy takeout sushi packs. We also purchased some bargain bottled snacks for souvenirs, and then we finally drove towards the entrance to Haleakalā.

To prevent altitude sickness, we made three restroom stops along the way. After passing through the entrance checkpoint, our guide Yamapi, who has climbed this mountain countless times, drove safely. About ten minutes before sunset, we parked in a crowded parking lot below the summit, which is used by the tour company, and waited for the sunset while enjoying the view. Gradually, the sun disappeared below the horizon, and even after it had completely set, the pale blue night sky spread out in a fantastical array of colors. Other tours might just end with looking at the stars, but we used a GPS telescope to observe various stars and even the craters on the moon. The stargazing concluded with warm tea and warm clothing provided, allowing us to enjoy the chilly summit comfortably.

集合場所のショップで南からのご家族と合流　６人でまずはスーパーへテイクアウトの寿司パックを購入　その他　お土産用のバーゲン品の瓶詰めスナックを購入しいよいよハレアカラの入山道へと車を走らせます　
高山病予防のために３ヶ所のトイレストップを挟みながらどんどん車は進みます。
入山チェックのゲートを通過　どれ程の回数登っているか数えきれないほどの回数をこなしたヤマピーガイドが安全に車を走らせます　日の入り10分ほど前にこみあう山頂駐車場の一段した　ツアー会社の面々が使う駐車場＋サンセットポイントに車を停め夕日を眺めながらサンセットを待ちます　やがて太陽がその姿を少しずつ下へと姿を消していきます　完全に陽が落ちたあとも淡いブルーの夜空が幻想的な色合いで広がる広大な姿を見せてくれます　こんな広い空　日本じゃ絶対見られない　ここでしか見れない広大さ　陽が落ちたあとはヤマピーさんの真骨頂　星空観察　学生時代天文部に在籍して数々の知識を身に付けたヤマピーさんがこれでもかと言うほど　天体観察説明をしてくれます　他のツアーではただ星空を眺めるだけできっと終わってしまうでしょう　GPS天体望遠鏡で様々の星を眺め　クレーターの高さまで見て取れる月面も観察して星空観察は終了　暖かいお茶　暖かい防寒着も準備してあり冷え冷えとした山頂でもゆっくり楽しむことが出来ました。
カアナパリのホテルに戻ったのは22時過ぎ　ヤマピーさん　本当にお世話になりました　マウイの夜を堪能出来ました。天候に左右されるサンセット＋星空ツアー　今夜は恵まれました　マウイへ来たら必須のツアーだと思います。堪能出来ました。

I was very moved by the sunset and starry sky seen from above the clouds. Our guide, Yamapi, was very kind, knowledgeable, and had an interesting way of talking, which made the journey enjoyable as well. This time, the weather at the summit was good, and I was very lucky to see a nene! The weather was good, but perhaps due to the lack of wind, clouds covered the sky and we couldn't see many stars at the summit. Since the weather is beyond our control, I accepted that. I appreciated the thoughtfulness of the guide who suggested we should try again next time. However, at around 1000 meters, we started to see a few stars, so we stopped the car and were able to see the stars again. The guide offered to explain the stars now or to plan for a future visit, allowing everyone to choose.

I felt very humbled, but since we were all meeting for the first time, I thought it would be difficult to choose one option as opinions might differ. There were four groups, and one person from my group said they wanted to proceed with the explanation, but someone from another group suggested we should plan for a future visit, so everyone agreed on the latter. I was fine with the idea of a future visit, but I felt a bit disappointed because I didn't think everyone would be able to return.

Other than that, I thought the attention to detail in the selection of background music and the setup of chairs at the summit was wonderful.

天候は良かったのですが、風があまりなかったせいか雲がかかり山頂で星があまり見えませんでした。天候はどうしようもできないので納得をしています。お心遣い頂き今度リベンジしましょうと言って頂いたのですが、1000mあたりの場所で少し星が見えてきたので、車を停めて頂き改めて星を見せて頂けました。もし良かったら今星の説明をさせて頂くか今度リベンジか皆で選んで下さいとの言葉を頂きました。
非常に恐縮ですが、お互い初めて会った人ばかりで意見は別れる場合もあるのにどちらか選ぶ事は難しいと思います。4グループいて1人の方が今お願いしますと言われましたが違うグループの方がリベンジでと言われたので皆さんリベンジで合わされました。私もリベンジで良かったのですが、皆さんが再訪出来る訳では無いと思いましたので、その点だけ残念に思いました。
その他はBGMの選曲や山頂での椅子のセッティングあらゆる面での説明など事細かな配慮は素晴らしかったと思います。
