This was a great afternoon snorkel and whale watching event. The crew was very well organized and knowledgeable in the area and the whales. Ciara and Sal were great hosts. They kept a watchful eye on all this swimmers and we're very accommodating to my seasick husband. The barbecue was freshly grilled and was very tasty. I recommended this trip to anyone who wants to see many that whales.

There were 5 of us that went on the afternoon snorkel and whale watch and all agreed it was a stand out experience of our ten days in Maui.
The staff are all very friendly, helpful and overall seemed like really great people who love what they do.
We were able to stop whenever a whale was spotted (we saw at least 20) not just during the first part of as was first indicated. The captain had an endless supply of information about the whales and all the islands surrounding.
The snorkel location was absolutely stunning. We had gone out snorkelling multiple times ourselves and this location was by far the best, calm waters, loads of fish and coloured reef.
The trip was finished off with burgers and vegetarian pasta for lunch and cocktails as we stopped again for a few more whale sightings.

We will be back!

I was able to travel to Maui during the winter season, so I decided to enjoy whale watching and made a reservation in advance with VELTRA. This is definitely an activity you should participate in if you travel to Maui.

First of all, there are numerous whale watching tours in Lahaina. The tour I participated in had its check-in and departure point at the main loading dock right in front of the Pioneer Inn in Lahaina, where there were more than ten operating booths. Despite this, I saw several people who tried to sign up on the day and were turned away due to being "fully booked," with alternative dates suggested. I think it's better to make a reservation in advance.

It was quite a windy day, but I had no worries about seasickness (though this is just my personal opinion). Of course, it wasn't completely smooth, but it was more like the sensation of a theme park ride rather than the kind of rocking that causes seasickness, and it had quite a sense of speed.

As we departed from Lahaina Harbor and saw the streets of Lahaina, it was truly wonderful. Just this view felt worth the price (laughs). In the first half, we didn't see many whales, but in the second half, we were able to see whales up close quite frequently. The staff was friendly, enthusiastically pointing out, "Look over there!" and "Ten o'clock direction!"

Most of the passengers were not Japanese, but there were no particular issues as we didn't need to converse with each other. The shape of the boat was large enough to accommodate about 40 people, and it was two stories. Most passengers enjoyed the activity on the upper deck. There was also a bar corner (with soft drinks available, of course). There was no pressure to order drinks.

As for some advice, I recommend fully charging your camera or smartphone battery. You never know where the whales will surface. They have a behavior pattern of "suddenly surfacing with their snout, then diving headfirst into the water, and finally showing their tail before submerging," which lasts about 20 seconds. Therefore, to capture that decisive moment, you need to keep your camera ON at all times. I missed out on taking good photos because my battery wasn't sufficiently charged (T_T). Also, while cruising, it can be quite windy, so be careful not to get blown away.

　冬の時季にマウイ島に旅行することができましたので、ホエールウオッチングを楽しむことにしてVELTRAさんで事前に予約しました。
　マウイ島に旅行される場合はぜひ参加したいアクティビティです。

　まず、ラハイナでは数多くのホエールウオッチングツアーがあります。今回参加したツアーはラハイナのパイオニアインのすぐ前のmain loading dockが受付・出港場所ですが、ここだけでも１０を超える営業小屋？がありました。それにもかかわらず当日に申し込みをしようとして「満員」ということで断られ、別の日などを提示されていた方を何人か見かけました。事前予約しておいた方が良いと思います。

　当日はかなり風が強い日でした。しかし船酔いなどの心配はまったくありませんでした（ただし個人的な感想です）。もちろんまったく揺れない訳ではありませんが、船酔いのする揺れではなく、遊園地の乗り物のような感じのけっこうスピード感のあるものでした。
　ラハイナ港を出港して、ラハイナの街並みを見るととても素晴らしいものでした。これだけでも料金の元を取ったような感じでした（笑）
　前半ではあまりクジラを見ることはできませんでしたが、後半になるとかなりの頻度でクジラを近くから見ることができました。スタッフもフレンドリーで、「あっちに見えるぞ」、「１０時方向だ」などと熱心に対応してくれました。

　乗客のほとんどは日本人以外の方でしたが、お互いに会話が必要な訳でもなく特に問題はありませんでした。
　船の形状は４０人くらいが満員の大きさで、２階建てです。ほとんどの乗客は２階部分でアクティビティを楽しみます。一応、バーコーナー（もちろんソフトドリンク有り）もあります。飲み物のオーダーを強制されるようなことはありません。
　
　何点かアドバイス的なことでは、カメラやスマホのバッテリーは十分に充電しておくことをお勧めします。クジラはどこに顔を出すか分かりません。「ギューンと口先から顔を出して、そのまま海面に頭から潜っていき、最後にテールを出した後に水中に潜る」という行動パターンです。この間、２０秒ほどです。そのため決定的瞬間を撮影するためには、いつもカメラをONにしておく必要があるからです。私は充電が十分でなかったため、良い写真を撮りはぐってしまいました(T_T)
　それから会場をクルージングしていると風が強いです。飛ばされないように注意して下さい。

It was the season, so I was able to see a lot! We even saw breaching! Although it was far away, we saw it twice right in front of us. The Japanese guide also came along and provided explanations about the highlights and why whales inhabit Maui during this time, making it a very fulfilling whale watching experience.

The boat was a catamaran. Since we boarded right up to the beach, you should be prepared to get wet. There were no Japanese staff, but we managed just fine. Even though I thought of whales as wild animals, my expectations were high! When a whale came close, it was so exciting. Finally seeing a whale was a dream come true! Thank you for showing up. There were some snacks available, but we were so focused on the whales. The sea conditions were calm that day, with clear skies and little wind, so the conditions were quite good. I think our family was lucky. The next day when we went to the beach, the waves were really strong, and it looked like getting on the boat would be even more difficult. After all, dealing with nature, the weather, sea conditions, and the appearance of the whales, I can only feel gratitude. I will never forget the whales that our whole family got to see.

Meeting up on-site was nerve-wracking, but when we found the boat at the port, I felt a sense of relief and excitement as if the tour had already begun. A Japanese staff member found our family, and we boarded safely. By the way, we were the only Japanese family there. The female staff member was very kind to us.

Since it was early in the morning, breakfast was included on the boat! There was a generous amount of food available. There were also various drinks. Japanese people tend to be reserved, but it felt like we should confidently go for the food and drinks. We enjoyed a hearty lunch as well. It was delicious.

What impressed me was the sunscreen! It was available in bottles for free use, and it was eco-friendly for the ocean and coral! That's quite rare. The atmosphere on the boat was fantastic, with music playing all the time. It was fun.

Snorkeling was the highlight, as we got to see fish and turtles in the clear water while playing with the kids. Moreover, while free diving, we could actually hear the sound of whales! It was clear! On the way back to the port, we encountered whales due to the season, making it a dream-like day.

This is a whale watch worth signing up for. The Captain is an utter delight, and her crew were outstanding! The atmosphere on the boat (best looking one in the harbor) was relaxed and friendly. Instructions were given quickly, and we were off. We saw quite a few whales, with Captain & crew pointing them out. The food was a big surprise - it was excellent, and there was plenty of it. It was advertised as “appetizers”, but the chicken wings and ribs were so good, you could make a meal out of them. They also had quite an array of alcoholic beverages to offer. We’ve been on whale watch boat tours before, but this one was the best ever. My husband & I wholeheartedly recommend this tour. Our only complaint was that it wasn’t long enough, but that was because it was so enjoyable we didn’t want it to end.

I mistakenly remembered the date I booked online as one day later, and realized my mistake the night before what I thought was my whale watching day (the reservation was actually for that afternoon). On a whim, I called the local contact the next morning to explain the situation, and they said that while a Japanese guide wouldn't be available, I was welcome to join if that was okay. I was able to board the boat successfully! Thank you very much!

Once we headed out, I was able to see many whales, which was truly moving. They looked small in photos, but with the naked eye, I could see them much larger and closer. The sound of their tails hitting the water was incredibly powerful.

It was a relatively cloudy day, but after sitting outside for just 20 minutes, I got really sunburned, so sunscreen is a must. Also, I think those who are prone to seasickness should take precautions. Surprisingly, I found it quite comfortable to let myself be carried by the waves while sitting outside.

尾びれで水面を叩く音は迫力満点です。
割と雲が多い日だったのですが、外の席へ20分も座っていたらすごく日焼けしたので、日焼け止めは必須です。
また、船酔いされやすい方は対策が必要だと思います。外の席で波に身を任せるようにすると意外に楽でした。

Amazing experience with whale that circled us many times and went under the boat. He stayed with us for about 30 minutes - circling, and coming up to look at us - so close we could have reached out and touched him. Finale was when he finally left and gave us a huge breech. Simply incredible - no whale watching tour could ever beat this one. Crew wonderful too. Best day ever.

It was my first time whale watching. I thought it would be nice to at least see the shadow of a whale, but whales appeared everywhere, which was beyond my expectations. However, I felt like we were being played with, as the boat would move towards the direction where the whales appeared, but they wouldn't show themselves easily.

I participated in early December, but it was very windy that day, so we couldn't go to Molokini Island and instead snorkeled at a nearby spot. I saw fish and had a great time. The guide was very kind, and my father, who is in his 70s, was nervous about snorkeling for the first time but ended up having the most fun. The breakfast and cheeseburgers for lunch on the boat were also very delicious. It's a shame we couldn't make it to Molokini Island, but I really enjoyed it and would like to try again for a rematch at Molokini Island.

I participated in a tour to Molokini Island because I wanted to see whales and turtles. My husband has been diving all over the world, and he said the visibility at Molokini Island is the best, incredibly clear! We were able to see whales multiple times, and we even witnessed some big jumps! It seems there were turtles in Turtle Town as well... I got a bit seasick, so I couldn't see them, but a couple on their honeymoon showed me pictures. Since I can't speak English, booking a tour with a Japanese guide was definitely the right choice. Even when I was feeling seasick, our Japanese guide, Kana, made a special juice for me and took care of various things, which I really appreciated and was very happy about. Thank you, Kana. I want to join this tour again for a revenge trip!

Incredible whale watching trip!

We had an incredible time on this trip. The boat was clean and the staff was courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our captain was great at locating whales and she was extremely skilled at maneuvering the boat so we always had the best view. Originally I had bought my ticket for 3 days earlier however, upon arriving in Maui my husband got sick and we were unable to go. I expected to have to just eat the cost of our tickets but I called the company and Sylvia was great and rescheduled us for later in the week with no penalty. I highly recommend this company and I would use them again.

A taste of it all!

First off, the crew was amazing. Wonderful, friendly, and never a frustrated or unhappy moment. They ensured everyone had all their gear, handed out drinks and food, and answered questions with ease.

The snorkle part of our day felt considerably shorter than expected, especially since looking at something so beautiful makes the time fly. If you are wanting lots of time in the water I would suggest another snorkle focused excursion instead.

The food was yummy and plentiful. One perk to the afternoon tour was it was less busy and everyone was able to get great views and seats during the whale watching cruise. There were so many humpbacks around, and we were able to catch some amazing breaches and slaps not too far from our boat. Because this boat was large it was harder to get as close to the whales as the smaller vessels, but was non the less breathtaking!

I would reccomend this activity to first time snorklers, and those wanting a taste of both the coral reefs and the open waves. I want to commend the captain and his crew for the smooth sailing and great memories!

Overall I think this was the best activity we did while on Maui. My wife and I had a great time and the crew did an amazing job. We saw multiple whales on the way to our snorkel spot. When there one of the crew members would act as a scout and point out cool stuff. We swam with 4 sea turtles. On the way back we had burgers and hot dogs, plenty to go around. Great beer choices and Mai Tai's as well. Would definitely recommend!

We participated in a honeymoon trip. The date of participation was December 25th. We were the only Japanese people, but our Japanese guide, TAKA, showed us around. Shortly after departing, we encountered a whale jumping, just like you see on TV! TAKA not only provided us with detailed information about the whales' ecology but also offered us a service-filled experience. After that, we were able to spot whales ourselves and cheer with everyone else on board. Both the whales and TAKA congratulated us on our marriage, making it a fun and memorable cruise.

I was able to see the whales up close. The guide was Japanese and very attentive!! The excitement of watching the whales spout water and come up was like an attraction!

The boat was very nice my daughter enjoyed the slide. The service was great
They were very helpful of getting you ready to snorkel with all the equipment
They made the whale watching great you learned some great facts about the whales. They were very speedy in getting you a lot of snorkeling time made sure everyone was safe. It’s was great to go out in the afternoon because it was not crowded in the snorkeling spots. Great drinks and food . I recommend this tour to anyone even if your a family with littler kids .FUN TIME IN MAUI.

Overall impression of this company is outstanding. The trip itself was very professional. They are very safety oriented and make sure everybody on the boat is doing what they are supposed to do and all accounted for at the close of your snorkel adventure. The whale watching was very good as well. Beyond all the structure and safety of the trip is also the fact that they want you to have fun! They feed you great and drinks flow freely. Honestly this trip was one of the highlights of our time on Maui. I would highly recommend this to anyone, couples or families. Thank you for a great memory.

Outstanding Whale Watching Experience

We did this tour during the whale mating season so we expected to see a whale or two but what we saw was amazing. At first the whales kept their distance but after awhile they began approaching the boat. Soon dozens of whales were surrounding the boat and showing off their dives, breaches and spouting. They were close enough to spout whale 'snot' on us!! The skipper said their nearness was very unusual and he prolonged the tour by 1/2 hour.

Outstanding trip. Very knowledgeable crew and really looked after everyone. The lady captain was superb, buffet great, but as an English lady I did have to ask for a knife and fork, which everyone found highly amusing.

Would definitely recommend, the best trip of my holiday.
