The group was a bit hesitant but the trip went without a hitch, even when the skies opened up and we got dumped on. The tubing portion was great and a lot of fun for all. Kiersten was a great lead guide, and her team made sure that everyone was safe. Lunch was good, but dampened by the downpour. Overall, I believe that everyone in the group had a wonderful time. We highly recommend this adventure. Special kudos to Kiersten.

I did a lot of excursions on Kauai, and this is in my top 2
Reviewed by: BKST, 2023/09/17I probably experienced this excursion in the one of the worst ways possible: it was overcast and rainy, it had torrential downpoured right when we arrived at the canal, I was just wearing a one-piece bathing suit (no shorts or sleeves), I'm a freeze baby, the tour guide wasn't too friendly (probably because he was called into work last minute), but despite all those things, I TRULY LOVE AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ACTIVITY! I was really nervous I would be cold, but I was comfortable the whole time. Just my butt touched the water unless my husband splashed me lol. The downpour didn't last long either and the majority of the ride was under tunnels. The ride was so much fun. Our tubes sort of acted like bumper cars as the water pushed us this a way and that a way. Not only was it a fun ride, the number 1 reason why I love this activity is because it isn't just a lazy river or crazy river manmade for the purpose of tourism. The canal and tunnels were made in the late 1800s for the sugar cane plantations (now defunct). (Tunnels are checked every year ensuring safe operation!) I think it is a great way to optimize a resource that no longer has its original purpose. Of the paid excursions I did in Kauai (boat tour, helicopter tour, hula show, spiderman/superman ziplining), this mountain tubing excursion is in my TOP 2 MUST DOs.

Mountain Tubing Tour was Great

The other guides were just as great, Missy and a name I can’t remember. Everyone at Backcountry Adventures were approachable and answered questions. A definite must do if visiting Kauai.

Low impact and safe for all ages

The water was brisk and refreshing We loved every aspect of the tour! We were certainly ready for the meal when the tour was done!

Totally tubular

Bucket list experience!
Reviewed by: Lauren W., 2022/10/22This tour was so fun and unique! You float through such beautiful scenery and into dark tunnels with headlamps. In between most tunnels you are back outside floating under beautiful trees. The guides are amazing and literally get out of their tubes and stand in the water to make sure everyone gets through each area safe. The water is not deep and you’ll feel safe. If you’re considering doing this tour, just DO IT! You won’t regret it.

Tons of fun!
Reviewed by: Rkn1, 2020/04/04We wear a bit Leary of scheduling this excursion- but had heard great things about it- it was a cold overcast morning and we thought that would be miserable but we had a great time! Great tour guides kept us entertained and having fun- felt super safe the entire time and glad we booked it! Nice lunch at the end and fun scenic ride on the way in and back out. We’ll be back with the family for sure.

Great Times in Kauai

Best time ever!

Totally worth it!!!

This was one adventure we will definitely do each time we come to Kauai. It wasn't affected by weather and the guides made it a really cool day. I recommend this to anyone. Request "the evil twin ". lol.

One of the best things to do in Kauai!
Reviewed by: Ms. Kitty, 2015/10/09You know those log rides at amusement parks? Now imagine one that is in a tropical paradise AND lasts an hour and that is what the tubing is like. It was literally the most fun I had on the island and I can see why it is so popular!
From the moment my husband and I checked-in we got amazing service from some of the friendliest peeps on the island. They got us kitted up with the gear we would need (bring a GoPro or a waterproof camera with you since you are wearing gloves the whole time and that makes touchscreen use a bit awkward) and then took us on a lovely drive to the launch site. The views along the way were breathtaking.
Once we plopped into our tubes, we let the water and Mother Nature take control as she kept me flowing along the irrigation ditches. There are some great drops and mini-rapids, as well as a number of dark tunnels. I didn't want the ride to end! At the end of the tour, we got to make yummy sandwiches, played with the local kitty Mochi and I wanted to jump in the swimming hole, but we ran out of time. Will definitely dive in on my next visit!

I WANT TO DO THIS AGAIN!!!

At first we are transported by van through a private, secluded & beautiful area up to the area where we start our tube ride. We are given detailed information on how to ride the tubes and what to expect. Everything exceeded our expectations and the tube ride was awesome. We loved going through the water and the tunnels. What a way to experience how water is brought down from the mountains. Loved our tour guides who were funny and informative (Malia, Micah and the other guide who loved to sing when going through the tunnels).

Tip: Make sure to bring an underwater camera to capture all of your wonderful memories!!!
