In the morning, we were able to fully enjoy a leisurely hotel life until our 14:30 pickup. They picked us up right on time, and we made a stop at Whole Foods to choose our lunch, taking a bathroom break at Kula Lodge while gradually acclimatizing to the altitude. During the drive and breaks, we enjoyed detailed guidance and fun conversations with our guide, Yama P. At the stops, he also recommended souvenirs and offered tastings. In fact, everything was incredibly delicious.

At the hotel, despite our worries about the cloudy sky, we found clear weather at the summit of Haleakalā, with a new moon and no wind, creating perfect conditions for stargazing, according to Yama P. After enjoying our lunch and warm tea in the car, we put on the warm clothing and gloves provided, sat in our chairs, and adjusted our eyes to the darkness for a trip into the starry sky! The constellations were beyond imagination. We were captivated by Yama P's flowing lecture on the constellations. It was a fulfilling half-day that flew by in no time.

想像を絶する星座群です。山Pの流れるような星座のレクチャーに聞き惚れます。
あっと言う間の充実した半日でした。

I asked a friend who has participated in Yamapi's Haleakalā sunset and stargazing tour about why they go so often, and they said it gives them inspiration and courage every time. I was encouraged to join for the first time. Yamapi, whom I only knew from "Hawa Koi," was wonderful, but meeting him in person revealed that he is truly a charming person, and I understood why one would want to join his tours again and again. We were blessed with good weather, and the sunset over the sea of clouds and the starry sky afterward were etched in my eyes and heart thanks to Yamapi's explanations. I am grateful to have participated in this tour and to have met Yamapi.

It was a cloudy day... I arrived early and parked the rental car in the hotel parking lot to check in. There was a counter outside the hotel and a store located a bit deeper inside, which was a little confusing. When the time came, I boarded a contact boat with about 20 participants, including several Japanese people, and in a few minutes, we reached the submarine.

We quickly boarded and began our dive... I enjoyed about 40 minutes while watching the coral and the fish swimming around. We dove down to about 100 feet, or 30 meters, but it felt a bit dark, possibly due to the cloudy sky, and I felt a greater distance from the fish than I expected. It might have been more beautiful if it had been sunny.

At the counter, they put a sticker on the parking ticket to cover the fee. When I tried to pay with my card, it didn’t recognize it, and I panicked a bit as several cars lined up behind me, but I called and they opened it for me, so it all worked out.

当日は曇り空…早めに到着しホテルの駐車場にレンタカーを止めて受付。 ホテルの外のカウンターとホテル内の少し奥にある店舗があり、少し戸惑いました。 時間になると日本人数名を含む20名ほどの参加者と共に連絡用の船に乗り込み数分で潜水艦へ。
早速乗り込み潜水開始…サンゴやそこを泳ぐ魚を見ながら40分程楽しみました。100フィート、30メートル程まで潜りましたが、曇り空のせいか若干暗く感じたのと思っていたより魚と距離感を感じました。 晴れていればもっと綺麗だったのかもしれません。
カウンターで駐車券にステッカーを貼ってくれて料金をカバーしてくれます。2ドル足りずにカード支払いしようとしたらカードを認識せず…後ろに数台並び焦りましたが、電話して開けてもらい事なきを得ました。

Last year, I participated in this tour for the first time and was so moved that I decided to join again this year as a key event in Maui! As a result, there were many clouds this time, so we couldn't see a sky full of stars, but just listening to Yamapi's explanations makes this tour worth it. I visited Haleakalā 25 years ago, and since it was during the day then, this was my first time experiencing the sunset. Unlike Japan, the regulations for entering the park have become quite strict, which I felt is important for preserving nature. The weather was such that there was a sea of clouds below, while above, it was perfectly clear with not a single cloud in the sky. There was no wind, and the moon was in its crescent phase. Our guide, Mr. Yamauchi, mentioned that it was perfect for sunset and stargazing.

At 7 PM, the sunset occurred, and the sun set faster than I had imagined, followed by the green flash. In the eastern sea of clouds, I could distinctly see the elliptical earth shadow, which gave a sense of the Earth's roundness. After the sun completely set, the starry sky was breathtaking. Mr. Yamauchi pointed out the prominent constellations, and I was able to see the Southern Cross clearly for the first time in a while, which was quite nostalgic.

Additionally, with a high-powered telescope connected to GPS that moved with a remote control, I could see Jupiter's vertical bands and the four planets lined up vertically. Various meteor showers were also visible, and the stars at lower altitudes sparkled like jewels, leaving me in awe. Maui offered a relaxed experience, allowing me to connect with nature on a global and cosmic scale, making it the best trip ever.

I couldn't reconfirm using the phone number written on the voucher. If reconfirmation was necessary, I would have liked to know that before making the reservation. It's quite difficult for those who are not good at English.

On the day of the event, while I was being shown to my seat and went to get a drink, another staff member seated a different customer, which caused us to lose our seats. Again, my limited English made it hard to communicate with the staff. The staff, seeing the situation, called a Japanese staff member to help us explain, and we finally secured a seat, but it was at a different table. The person who originally had that seat was upset. (I couldn't understand what they were saying, but their gestures and tone indicated they were angry.) It seemed that they told the staff, and we ended up staying at that table, feeling quite uncomfortable.

We were looking forward to the show as a couple, but it was very disappointing. Moreover, the food was served by table, and it took a long time for it to come around, so we were almost last. When I went to get food, there was hardly anything left. There were no plates either. We could only get food until the show started, so we barely had anything to eat. I chose this for our last memory on the Big Island, but it turned into the worst memory. The show itself was good.

Please improve communication among staff regarding who was seated where. Well, I won't be using this service again.

元々の席の人には怒られて。(何を言ってるかはよく分かりませんがジェスチャーと口調で怒ってるようでした。)その人がスタッフに言ったようで、私たちはこのままの席になりましたが、肩身の狭い思いをしました。
夫婦で楽しみにしてたショーだったのにもううんざり。
しかも料理はテーブルごとで、中々順番がまわってこずにほぼ最後。
料理を取りに行ったら、料理がほとんどない。皿もない。ショーが始まるまでしか料理は取りに行けないから、私たちはほぼ食べる事が出来ませんでした。
ハワイ島最終日に最後の思い出と選んだのに最悪の思い出になりました。
ショー自体は良かったです。
もっと、誰をどこの席に通したかとか、スタッフ同士で連携してください。
まあ、二度と利用しませんが。

The weather was somewhat cloudy, but the clouds were beautifully dyed by the sunset, creating a lovely gradient. The photo-taking and explanations were precise, allowing us to enjoy the experience efficiently in the cold at the summit in a short amount of time. The tour's included down jacket was very helpful. Unfortunately, stargazing was nearly impossible due to the heavy clouds.

After everyone gathered, during the first break, the guide asked everyone where they were from, which made it easy for guests to converse with each other afterward. The second break was at Foodland, where it was great to be able to choose our own dinner instead of having a standard bento. We also had a little shopping time, and I bought some recommended Kona coffee.

The third break for altitude acclimatization was taken at the Clara Lodge, where we had several restroom breaks. We also enjoyed the rest stops as we ascended to 3,000 meters.

曇り気味の天気でしたが、雲が夕陽に染まり綺麗なグラデーションを見れました。写真撮影・説明が的確で山頂の寒い中、短時間で効率よく満喫出来ます。ツアー付属の防寒ダウンがとても助かりした。残念ながら星の観測は雲が多くほぼ不能。
全員集合後、最初の休憩時に全員に声をかけて何処から来たか等の質問をしてくれるので、ゲスト同士のその後の会話が楽に出来ました。2回目の休息はフードランド、夕飯を自分で選べ一律のお弁当でないのはとても嬉しいです。少しの買い物時間も貰え、オススメのコナコーヒーを買いました。
高地順応の為の3回目の休息はクラロッジでとり、トイレ休憩が多く取られていました。3000メートルまで上がるための休憩も楽しめました。

I had been looking forward to the tour even before arriving in Maui! I was also very excited to meet our tour guide, Mr. Yamauchi. When I met him, he turned out to be a very warm-hearted person, and I was really happy with the subtle touches that matched the location. Unfortunately, due to the full moon, we couldn't see the starry sky, but listening to the stories while gazing at the stars felt like a cleansing experience, and I couldn't stop crying... it was quite a challenge. I hope to come back someday to see the star-filled sky again and have my revenge!!

I participated alone, and when I looked around, I was the only Japanese person there. I boarded the boat thinking it was a sightseeing cruise, and the view from the ship, including Kailua and the mountain ridges in the background, was incredibly beautiful. The boat went all the way to the cape in search of dolphins in Kailua Bay, then made a U-turn while the captain diligently searched for dolphins. It was worth it, as suddenly 6 to 10 dolphins appeared and swam around the boat for a few minutes. I was very excited to see wild dolphins up close. It took about 30 minutes to reach the snorkeling point, where we had about 2 hours for snorkeling and lunch. After that, we cruised around Kailua Bay in search of dolphins. I can't speak English, but the crew was very kind and friendly, providing explanations in Japanese.

一人で参加しました、周りを見ると日本人は私一人でした、私は観光船のつもりで乗船しましたので船上からの景色、カイルワ、その後方の山稜線はとっても美しい景色でした、船はイルカを求めてカイルワ湾を？岬の先まで行きUターンをして蛇行しながら船長が一生懸命イルカを探していましたそのかいがあり、突然イルカ6～10頭現れ船の周りを数分遊泳していました、野生のイルカを間近で見れ大変興奮しました、シュノーケルポイントまでは３０分程度、ポイントでは2時間程度のシュノーケルと昼食の時間が有りました、その後カイルワ湾をイルカを求めてのクルージングでした、私は英語は話せませんが乗組員が大変親切（日本語の説明書で解説等）フレンドリーでした。

I was really looking forward to the tour, but unfortunately, the weather was bad, and I couldn't see the sunset or the stars (tears). I had been optimistic because I read in various places that "even if the weather is bad at the base, it clears up at the summit, so the chances of clear skies are quite high," but I guess things like this can happen.

I heard that I could have a chance to do it again, but I didn't quite understand the system. Is it similar to the "if you can't see dolphins, it's free next time!" kind of deal that you often see with dolphin watching?

The guide, Yamapi, was just as great as the reviews said, and he told us about various recommended souvenirs. Among them, the organic honey was incredibly delicious and has received great reviews from my family.

ガイドさんは良かったし雲海までは綺麗に見れたしトイレ休憩も多くて色々良かったですが、何しろメインディッシュが何も体験できてないので感想の言いようがないかな？って感じです

Great time. You have access to all decks. Naturalist answers all question. Plenty of seating. Servers available for sodas and coffee and cocktails. Breakfast is optional at additional charge. Bring your camera for photos of whales and view of waikiki. Enjoyed very much. Tour was wworrth. The money for sure. We did early bird . We were back before lunch time. Bring light jacket for early morning. You will enjoy this ride. Super big ship very stable. Stay on deck for best views. They know exactly where the whales are.

Although it was unfortunately rainy on the day of our visit, I had an amazing time with the guidance of YAMAPEE. We drove slowly up to the summit of Haleakalā (about 3,000 meters), and while I had some concerns about my physical condition, I reached the top in no time while listening to Mr. Yamauchi's guidance. Along the way, we had a lot of fun shopping for recommended coffee and Maui onion-flavored potato chips at the shopping center and Kula Lodge. Although we couldn't do stargazing at the summit, I would love to try again with YAMAPEE's guidance.

The only disappointment was that the champagne we added as an option was served quite late in the course, and we couldn't finish it. I wish it had been on the table from the beginning... Unfortunately we did not see any whales - they did offer a free return trip but we did not have the time to take this offer up.

I understand it is a gamble - but the weather was very bad and windy - locals told us that when the water is that rough you tend not to see whales - maybe they should have given us option prior to boarding.
