Hawaii
I decided to participate in watching the Hilton fireworks from a boat on Friday. We walked from Ala Moana to the meeting point, which was just under 2 km (about 20 minutes), so I think it would be better for those who are not confident in their physical fitness, have small children, or are elderly to take a taxi. The ticket booth is in a yellow building right next to Fisherman's Wharf.
While walking in Waikiki, I thought, "Is this Japan?" because there were so many Japanese people, but as the reviews said, there were actually few Japanese, and about 70% were foreigners. Naturally, there was no explanation in Japanese from the crew.
Once we set sail and headed out to sea from Waikiki, the sunset was incredibly beautiful. It was a breathtaking sight. However, after the sun went down, it became quite challenging. It was cool... or rather, cold!!! Even though I was wearing a hoodie, I got so cold that I neglected the beautiful night view of Waikiki and ended up retreating to the cabin. The captain was also wearing a fleece and windbreaker partway through, and some foreign women were wearing knit cardigans. I recommend preparing for the cold!
We didn't particularly mind the rocking of the boat, but if you're prone to motion sickness, taking anti-nausea medication is a must. There were indeed some people who got seasick.
Despite everything I've written, the most disappointing part was that there were no fireworks, which were supposed to be the main event. While that can't be helped, there was no explanation about it during the trip, and at the end, we only heard, "I'm sorry we couldn't show you the fireworks today." I thought there could have been a bit more explanation. On the other hand, if you are fluent in English, you could have asked for the reason.
Overall, it's a good activity to enjoy the atmosphere, but you definitely need to prepare for the cold, have anti-nausea medication, and have a bit of language skills!
Thank you for your patronage.
On the day of the event, due to issues with the fireworks contractor from Hilton, the fireworks display was unexpectedly canceled. I believe that both the guests aboard the Makani and those who planned to watch from within Hilton were disappointed.
We conducted a confirmation process with Hilton just before departure, so it seems that this was an unforeseen circumstance on their part as well.
This was the first time we encountered such a situation since the launch of the Makani cruise, and we would like to consider how to address this in the future.
On behalf of the Makani crew and staff.

My wife and I were just on vacation in Hawaii and decided to take this dinner cruise. We opt for the limo transportation (not worth it, its only a 10 minute ride without traffic) and realized that the docks were not far from the wakiki hotel area. Anyway, they take you onto the boat and direct you to the appropriate floor according to the package you select. We selected the 5 star which was relaxing and not a party environment like downstairs(4 star). You listen to jazz and singing. It's very romantic and the views are out of this world. The 7 course dinner is ok, small protions but you do get kinda full. Couples plan is recommended. They brought our champagne very late which was disappointing but they gave us a free picture and the bottle to make up for it. They give you drink coupons anyway so it's no big deal. Our cruise was almost ruined because of the disrespectful crowd right next to us. One person in particular was laughing very loud you couldn't even hear the perform
My husband and I brought our two sons to Oahu for the very first time. The PCC was beautiful, and we enjoyed it so much! The luau was awesome! We hope to return next year!!
The tour guide and bus drivers were very nice.
I was hesitant to commit to the show until the end since I was returning to the hotel late with my 9-year-old child, but we decided to go for the evening show. It was indeed an impressive performance, and my child was thrilled. On the bus ride back, my child was sound asleep, but they said they had a great time. I wanted to go to the IMAX theater, but unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to see it, which was disappointing.
Wow!!! The guys were great, drinks were awesome and the music was perfect. The perfect party boat. Thanks guys, I'll see you again next year.
Mike
It was a very good and unique experience for both of us. The only thing that I think you should include in your website or ads is to tell them that it can be draining since it is a whole day affair. We were both exhausted due to long walks and the humid weather. Otherwise, very good!
Seeing the fireworks from the boat was my first experience, and it was amazing. It was truly a prime seat. The sunset was also incredibly beautiful.
While my husband and I were taking pictures of each other, people around us were friendly and engaged, which added to the pleasant atmosphere on the boat. Additionally, we were lucky enough to see dolphins along the way!
However, there were way too many people! There were so many that not everyone could find a seat (we had to sit by the stairs because there were no seats available), which felt a bit overcrowded. I also heard that they provided safety instructions in Japanese, but perhaps due to the crowd, that didn't happen. I understood most of what was being said, so I was fine, but those who can't speak Japanese might feel a bit anxious.
It might have been because it was a Friday, but I think it would have been perfect if there were fewer people. The boat sways quite a bit, so it's a good idea to take motion sickness medication beforehand.
We participated as a family of four. I was worried about the lack of transportation, so I confirmed the departure location the day before, which allowed us to leave our accommodation with some extra time on the day of the event. The staff mostly did not speak Japanese, and there were few other Japanese passengers, but there were many families participating, and we had a great time. The pastries served for breakfast were especially delicious, and the kids even asked for seconds.
The leis were wonderful, and a great welcome to Hawaii.
We enjoyed them to the fullest. Thanks!
The staff & service are both fantastic. They are so accommodating. The food is very good, however I was not able to enjoy it because I was so seasick. I didn't expect it to be such a rough ride. The boat could use an upgrade & makeover for sure. It's a bit dated. Entertainment was OK. That part could use an upgrade as well. They should know that there ARE good songs from this decade as well. Spring for the upgrade. Downstairs looked a bit crowded.
What a wonderful way to be greeted upon arrival. This activity truly conveys the spirit of Aloha.
Best vacation we ever took.
i really don't have anything to say but i enjoyed it
The employees are all very nice and a lot of fun, the food was delicious, and the shows were great.
This was my fourth time at Polynesian. The kids were there for the second time, but it was their first time participating in a tour. Because of that, we had a Japanese-speaking guide (a Japanese exchange student), which made it even more enjoyable than before. The evening show was absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious too. The kids ate a lot of cake.
I participated in a tour on July 3rd. Since the tour location was the beach in front of the Outrigger Reef Hotel, I leisurely walked to the designated spot in the morning!
First, we each signed in before boarding the catamaran!
Most of the participants were foreigners, which really lifted my spirits!
We first headed out to the waters off Waikiki for snorkeling! The blue of the ocean is incredibly beautiful, far beyond what you see at Waikiki Beach! However, I thought there were no fish... but when the crew fed them, suddenly there were fish!!! But only black fish... There were no coral fish or anything like that. The black fish were very timid and would swim away if you got too close...
Since it was a morning catamaran tour, snorkeling early in the day was a bit chilly for us Japanese, so we got out of the water early. Compared to that, the Americans were amazing!!
After snorkeling, the catamaran set sail towards Waikiki! As we sped towards Waikiki, when the boat hit the waves, we were at the front and got splashed all over, getting completely soaked! It was quite fun!!
On the way back, we turned off the engine, and it really felt like a "catamaran cruise."
Also, it's a good idea to take motion sickness medication before boarding the catamaran! My mother, who usually doesn't get seasick, ended up feeling sick (^_^;).
High quality lei's...buy from this seller!
Great lua, and the best food that I have had a a lua. The entertainment was outstanding.
Our guide was very informative. We loved learning more about each culture and participating in the activities. The food at the luau was fantastic and the entertainment was wonderful. The Horizons show was incredible.
I truly enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to all who come to Hawaii. Thank you so much for this experience.
I thought the center was enjoyable for the whole family. I definitely recommend the all day "Ambassador" package. It was great having a tour guide to take us to each village to ensure we didn't miss anything and arrived just in time to have perfect seating without having to wait. Our guide (Darrin from New Zealand) took our kids to do activities while my husband and I watched several pre-shows in peace and than he brought the kids to see the main show in each village. The dancing parade on canoes is a must see along with the Samoa village. My guide recommended the Prime Rib buffet dinner instead of the Luau Buffet. He said the food was much better, it was more quiet to have a break, and the show was just a mini pre-show to the one we were going to see at 7:30. I am definitely glad we did that and have to agree with him. The night show was spectacular and if you get the Ambassador package you get preferred sitting and ice cream during the show. Don't waste your money on the Super Ambass
The food was great, the show was amazing and watching the sunset with Diamond Head in the background was perfect! Much better than any of the other luaus I have been on!
Thanks for the wonderful greeting. It was great to see our sign when we first entered the airport. The flower choices and color were excellent!
I have been to the Smith's Luau many times as a couple and with family and friends over the years. As a child I went to the Fern Grotto with members of the Smith family on their private boat long before it became commercialized. I highly recommend these activities to anyone. The entire family makes everyone feel a personalized welcome and are anxious to make your occasion very special.
This luau was very nice. It was raining, so it had to be in doors. I think everyone should attend a luau in Hawaii, this was my third time and it has proven to always be a good experience.
A friendly person was at our gate to present my wife and my 2 boys with a lei greeting. Everything went just as planned.
This was a great way to start our stay in the Hawaiian Islands.. Mahalo!!!!!1
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the show.Every part of the show was first class.
It was a very nice experience! The flowers used for the lei were very beautiful and fragrant. The greeter was very friendly and gracious. I will definitely use the service again and again!
