I found information online and on YouTube that some people drive to the summit of Mauna Kea by rental car, so I was hesitant about whether to join a tour, but it was definitely the right choice to participate.

First of all, even with a navigation system, it seems easy to get lost as it gets dark, and returning at midnight while tired from the trip makes it even more challenging. The parking space at the summit is also limited, so I believe joining a tour is the best option. I actually wanted to choose a Japanese tour, but it was fully booked, so I joined the English tour instead. However, when we observed the stars through the telescope, we were at the same location as the Japanese tour by VELTRA, so I was able to listen to the explanations from their tour guide.

The tour I participated in had three Americans and seven Japanese participants. On the way back, it seemed that the local Japanese guide had selected the music, as Japanese hit songs related to the sky (like Ayaka's "Mikazuki" and Checkers' "Hoshikuzu no Stage") were playing, and I secretly enjoyed it while everyone else was sleeping.

まず、山頂まではナビがあったとしても暗くなってくると迷いそうですし、何しろ帰りは真夜中で旅の疲れもあり眠くなります・・・。頂上の駐車スペースも狭く、個人で行くよりツアー参加がベストな選択と思いました。本当は日本語ツアーを選択したかったのですが、定員オーバーで英語ツアーに参加しました。ただ、天体望遠鏡で星を観察する時は同じVELTRAさんの日本語ツアーと同じ場所だったのでそちらのツアーガイドさんの説明を聞くことができました。私が参加したツアーはアメリカ人３人日本人７人でした。帰りの車内ではおそらく現地の日本人ガイドさんが選曲されたのか？空にまつわる邦楽ヒットソング（絢香の三日月やチェッカーズの星屑のステージなどなど）が流れていて、みんなが寝ている間密かに楽しんでいました。

This was a great tour with a knowledgable guide who provided lots of fun and interesting "inside Five-0" production stories. The house is privately owned and it's remarkable to be able to visit, very grateful for the sharing of this special setting. The highlight was a visit from Shawn Mokuahi Garnett who plays Cousin Flippa - just as delightful, funny, and warm as his character. The tour is pure nostalgic fun.

Food was delicious, entertainment beautiful. We had a 2 yo with us and while they provided orange juice for him as his complimentary drink, he received no fork or napkin. When we asked for one, the waiter said he would see if he could find one and never came back. There were also dinner rolls in the table for all except the child. We were told we had to share ours with him.

Cruise was ok.. but not worth the price. The food was ok as some was good and desserts were bad. It was a buffet so you can go back for second of u liked it. No need to dress up. Everyone was in shorts and beach type clothes. .. will I tell someone to do the cruise again- absolutely not. Keep your money. Now the sun set price on the boat was the best thing going it cost $30.. they give u a cool frame . But technically I had the same picture on my phone ..

With illegal fireworks killing and injuring people all over Oahu, it was great to be out on the water aboard the Star of Honolulu for its New Year's Eve cruise. The surf and turf dinner was excellent, as was the live entertainment. Beverage service was quite slow; the large number of diners ordering beverages simultaneously clearly overloaded the staff. Prospective participants need to be prepared for the fact that in order to see the midnight fireworks better, hundreds of attendees move to one side of the boat causing it to tilt quite a bit. But that was the only detectable motion; even people with motion sickness could take this cruise. I had a good time and would do it again. The event was a good value, too.

After departure, we enjoyed a humorous talk about whales by a naturalist, and then we went out on deck to take in the beautiful blue ocean and the views of Oahu from the sea that we don't usually get to see. Although we didn't encounter any whales, the informative announcements about whales and the Hawaiian sea kept us entertained throughout the cruise. A free voucher for a re-challenge was issued, so I definitely want to return to Hawaii again.

I attended with my son. At the entrance, a Japanese staff member guided us to our seats in Japanese, and we enjoyed the show right under Aloha Tower.

The meal was a buffet, allowing us to choose what we liked, and I was satisfied because I could eat until I was full.

Of course, the entire show was in English, but the way the host and performers engaged the audience created a great atmosphere! I was particularly impressed by the fire performance. There was a moment when a dancer ran throughout the venue, and I could feel the heat emanating from the torch they were holding on my skin.

The dance was not just a dance; it explained how Hawaiian culture has been built and how it has mixed with the cultures of other island nations, making it educational as well!

I had a wonderful time on New Year's Eve. I want to come back!

特に圧巻されたのが炎のパフォーマンス。ダンサーの方が会場全体を走る場面があったのですが、その方の持っている松明から発せられる熱を肌で感じられるほどでした。

ダンスもただのダンスではなく、ハワイの文化がどのように築き上げられてきたか、どのように他の島国の文化が混ざっていったのかを説明しながら踊られていたので、勉強にもなりました！

大晦日の夜、とても楽しく過ごせました。

It was truly an amazing experience! The tour was led by a knowledgeable guide who explained everything in detail, allowing us to learn about Hawaii's nature and history. We also enjoyed driving off-road in buggies and navigating the hilly course at the playground. Getting covered in red dirt afterwards was also quite fun. Keola and Raymond were our guides! Keola was the main guide and only spoke English, so it might be tough if you can't understand English. However, Raymond speaks Japanese, so I look forward to future tours.

Long wait time.

I wish they would give you a ruff idea on wait times. We spent most of the day to board the boat. And than had to rush through the Missouri. With the cost of the excursion we would have loved to not be rushed.

We really enjoyed our trip to the top to view both the sunset and the stars. Our guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating--he saw to our every need. He supplied chairs, blankets, hot tea and donuts (bonus). He also brought two telescopes and was able to show us so much more than we had ever seen before. Truly and incredible experience. Bring food (dinner) and warm clothing.
