Great day for whale watching!

We were very lucky to see whales throughout most of the tour. At least 10 sightings, usually with 2 whales at a time.

Food was delicious but it was hard to sit and enjoy your meal when you are looking for whales too. Every time someone shouted "WHALE!", everyone dropped everything but their cameras and ran towards the edge of the deck.

Luckily, there were a lot of whales out that day so I got to finish my food and saw plenty of whales.

Photos don't do justice for whale watch tours, it's better to watch with your own eyes. You don't want to be fussing over your camera because next thing you know, the whales have disappeared back underwater.

Wonderful experience, would love to go again!

Look for the turquoise color in the water!

The skies were grey and even with light drizzle the humpback whales were there along with the warm crew of the Star of Honolulu to greet us in Hawaii! I've never seen so many whales on one whale watch and it was my first time to see a turquoise color right next to the whale. Their white pectoral fins turns changes color underwater so it was easier to spot them this time around. The lunch on board was delicious...... The roast beef and those macadamia nut cookies keeps you going back for more. Thank you Star of Honolulu for a very stable ride and wonderful experience to see these enormous animals up so close!

I joined on January 24th (Thursday) because I wanted to see whales. Unfortunately, on this day, the whales only showed themselves briefly above the water. We were able to see them six times, but each time they only appeared for about 5 to 6 seconds after spouting water, revealing a bit of their backs, and finally showing their tails above the water before diving down. Like other reviews, I wasn't able to see them jump high.

Aside from the whales, dolphins jumped right next to the boat. They didn't perform the typical front flips you see at aquariums, but instead, they showed us two sideways twists like gymnast Kohei Uchimura.

After the boat left the port, it rained lightly for about ten minutes, and after taking shelter on the third deck, when we returned to the rooftop, a rainbow appeared across the sea, 180 degrees opposite the sun. Since we were on the water, there was nothing to obstruct the rainbow, creating a stunning view of vibrant colors from one side of the water to the other.

船が港を出港した後に１０分くらい小雨が降り、屋上デッキから３階へ避難した後に屋上に戻ってくると、太陽と反対側海上１８０度に渡り虹が姿を現しました。海上なので虹を遮るものが無く、水面から反対の水面まで七色にすばらしい光景を見せてくれました。

It was great to have a Japanese guide and driver, so I felt comfortable asking questions.

Also, the guide was very strict about time, so please make sure to stick to the meeting times! It was reassuring that they taught us how to handle the horses in the car before the riding experience.

The horseback riding itself was wonderful; the horses were cute and seemed well-trained! The scenery was beautiful, and I was very satisfied to be able to ride while enjoying the view of the sea. Some horses even tried to eat grass, but that added to the fun, and I enjoyed chatting with other tour participants.

On the way back, we took a different route, which allowed us to enjoy the scenery from the car.

One downside was that the time for sightseeing in Haleiwa was very short, so I would have liked at least an extra 30 minutes.

日本人ガイド兼運転手さんなので、安心して気軽に質問できてよかったです。

また、時間にとてもシビアなガイドさんでしたので、必ず集合時間を守るようにしてください！乗馬体験前に車内で馬の扱い方を教えてくださったのも安心できました。

乗馬自体は馬が可愛くて、ちゃんと調教されているなぁという印象を受けました！景色もきれいでゆっくり海を見ながら乗馬できて大満足です。中には草を食べてしまう馬もいたりしたけど、それもそれで楽しみながら他のツアー客の方とも仲良くお話できて楽しかったです。

帰りのルートは行きとは異なるルートを選択して帰っていただき、車内から見える景色も楽しみながら移動ができました。

残念な点は、ハレイワ観光の時間がとても短かかったのでせめてプラス30分は長く時間をとっていただきたかったです。

3 of us decided we wanted to do something different rather than having dinner at a nice restaurant, and this combination dinner and cruise fit the bill. The food was excellent, both the steak and the crab legs were fabulous, and we had an awesome view from our window-adjacent table. The entertainment on board was amusing, it added a great vibe to the dinner. The duration of the cruise from start to finish was just right - enough time to have a leisurely dinner, enjoy a show, watch the fireworks, and then return back to land. Just perfect, I highly recommend!

We participated in a 120-minute history and sunset tour with one experienced person and one inexperienced person! We were fortunate to have three staff members: one guide, one support person, and one for photo and video shooting. My companion, who was trying a Segway for the first time, was able to relax and enjoy a great time.

Since it was a weekday, the roads weren't crowded, and we got to ride in places like a botanical garden and an old airport runway that you can't experience elsewhere. The breathtaking sunset was so moving that it brought tears to my eyes, and they took many photos and videos for us. It was truly a fulfilling tour!

I can confidently recommend this wonderful tour to anyone. If you're trying a Segway for the first time, this is a safe choice! 😊

経験者一人と未経験者一人の計二人で120分の歴史と夕焼けのコースに参加しました！
スタッフはガイドさん一人、後方支援一人、写真&ビデオ撮影一人の計三人も付いてくれて恐縮でしたが、セグウェイ初体験だった連れも安心して楽しい時間を過ごせました。

I didn't have high expectations since many people couldn't see them, but I was able to see them multiple times. The weather was nice, and even if you can't see the whales, you can enjoy the view of Waikiki from the sea. I watched from the third floor, but if you want to feel more of the impact, I think it's better to watch from the first floor.

It was a large boat, and the weather was good with calm seas, but it still rocked a bit. If you're not confident with rides, it might be a good idea to bring some medication.

見れない方も多かったので期待はしていませんでしたが何度も見れました。
お天気もよくたとえクジラが見れなくても海からのワイキキの景色を楽しめますよ。
3階から見ていましたがより迫力を感じたいなら1階から見る方がいいと思います。

I set the time a bit later to prepare for flight delays and crowded immigration checks, but I arrived earlier than expected. I thought I would have a long wait, but they were already waiting at the arrival exit. Since the pickup location changes based on the arrival time, I was worried about whether we would be able to meet up, but we managed to connect safely. Also, the staff member who assisted us was a native speaker, so it's definitely safer to have someone who understands English.

The guide was a Japanese person named Uchida (I apologize if I misheard). He provided detailed explanations of the sights while driving, which was educational and enjoyable. When the roads got congested, he took alternative routes to avoid traffic, making him very reliable.

We first visited the Dole Plantation. We had about 30 minutes to explore on our own. The main purpose was a restroom break, and I think it’s best to consider it mainly for that, with just a little time for souvenir shopping. After this, we used the highway, but there can be traffic jams, so I believe the restroom break at the Dole Plantation is essential. There is also a maze here, but it takes over an hour to complete, so I strongly advise against attempting it. Next, we went to a beach where we saw turtles and spent about 15 minutes observing. It seems that turtles often don’t come on days with high waves, but we were lucky enough to see two and take photos. After that, we had a 65-minute lunch break in Haleiwa Town. Uchida drove us around Haleiwa Town beforehand and recommended various places, so we were fine without a guidebook. He helped us get to our desired restaurant smoothly, and I appreciated his thoughtfulness. We went to a fast-food restaurant, but it took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive, so time management is important since it doesn’t come out as quickly as in Japan. After that, we went horseback riding. We took a walk on horseback through a small hill covered with trees, similar to hiking. Riding on a natural mountain that hasn’t been maintained felt great. The horses are retired polo ponies, so they are well-trained and manageable even for beginners. It was a very enjoyable day. Thank you to the owner, Mark, and Uchida. 最初にドールプランテーションに行きました。30分程度各自で見学します。目的はトイレ休憩がメインであとは、ちょっとお土産を買うくらいだと思った方がいいです。この後、高速道路を使いますが、渋滞するときもあるらしいので、ドールプランテーションでのトイレ休憩は必須だと思います。ここには迷路もありますが、クリアに1時間以上かかるので、絶対にチャレンジ禁止です。次に亀がいる海岸に行き、15分程度見学しました。波が高い日には亀は来ないことが多いそうですが、運よく2匹見れ、写真も撮れました。その後に、ハレイワタウンで65分各自で昼食休憩がありました。内田さんが車で事前にハレイワタウンを一周し、お勧めの店を色々教えてくれたのでガイドブックが無くても大丈夫でした。目的の店にスムーズにいけるようにしてくれて、内田さんの心遣いに感謝しました。ファストフード店に行きましたが、食べ物が出るまでに15分程度かかり、日本のようにすぐには出ないので、時間配分は重要です。その後、乗馬をしました。ハイキングをするような木々の生い茂った小高い山を馬に乗って散歩しました。手入れのされてない自然の山を乗馬するのは気持ちよかったです。ポロ競技を引退した馬たちなので、ちゃんと調教されているので素人でも扱えます。とても楽しい一日でした。オーナーのマークさん、内田さん、ありがとうございました。また乗馬をするならここでやりたいと思います。

現地でオーナーが馬の乗り方を教えてくれますが、英語と簡単な日本語でされるので、雰囲気で理解できますが、こちらが日本語で質問をしても英語での回答になるかと思いますのでガイドはいると思います。詳しい注意点等は内田さんが日本語でしてくれました。現地に日本語で馬の乗り方の説明書きが掲示されています。実際に馬に乗るときにオーナーが英語で指示してくれたが理解できなかった時に内田さんの通訳が頼りになりました。乗り手の知識不足による操作ミスでケガをするのはよくないので、安全に乗馬をするためにも、このツアーに限らず、日本語ガイドは必要だと思います。（過去の口コミで馬が前の馬を噛み、前の馬に蹴られたと書かれていましたが、馬は前の馬から2メートルは距離を空けるようにオーナー及び内田さんから注意をされていたので、乗り手がきっちりしていれば起こらないミスだったのかと思います）また、乗馬中のケガは自己責任になるという同意書を書かされます。これに関してはどの乗馬ツアーでも同じかと思います。トラブルのリスクを減らすためにも多少値段は上がっても日本語ガイドがあった方が無難だと思いました。
④長ズボンは必須
馬は馬自身の体型しか把握していないので、馬が通れるギリギリで木の横を歩くことがあり、人間の膝が木にぶつかりそうになりました。慣れてくれば馬に指示して事前に木をかわすことができますが、ケガのリスクを減らすためにもジーンズ等厚手の長ズボンをお勧めします。馬の背中は思っている以上に高いです。
⑤自撮り棒禁止
馬は棒を怖がるそうで馬の上では自撮り棒は使わないように言われました。すごく揺れるので写真を撮るのは難しいと思います。片手で手綱を握り、片手で撮影できるなら動画なら撮ることもできます。
【催行会社へ】
①貴重品の保管場所を作ってほしい
荷物は車内に置いて、手荷物はカメラとペットボトル程度にしてと言われました。馬につける小さなバッグに入る程度の荷物しか持参できません。車内は鍵をかけるから安全と言われまし、山の中なので部外者が車上荒らしをするとは考えにくいですが、万が一を考えると不安があります。馬鹿正直に貴重品も車内に置いて行った自分も悪いのですが。（ベルトラのHPには持ち物に両手が空くバッグと書かれていたので荷物は自分で持てると思っていました）ガイドさんによると、オーナーからあまり荷物を持たないでほしいと言われているそうです。確かにあの山の中で物を落とした場合、探すのは大変なのはわかります。お互いが安心できるように貴重品ロッカーがあればいいのにと思いました。

The sunset at the summit of Mauna Kea was truly wonderful with the changing colors of the setting sun. Additionally, during the stargazing, I was moved to see the Milky Way, numerous stars, and even artificial satellites flying by. This year, I was also able to take a photo of the lava from Kilauea volcano reflecting red in the clouds, which was fantastic. If you visit the Big Island, I definitely recommend stargazing.
