I wasn't confident about driving to the summit of Mauna Kea, so I decided to join a tour. In hindsight, it was a great decision!
They picked us up from Waikoloa, and after a break at the visitor center for altitude acclimatization, we made our way to the summit of Mauna Kea. With the guide's explanations, I was able to deepen my understanding of the history of the Big Island and important points about Mauna Kea.
Although the summit was quite crowded, we found a recommended spot by the guide and enjoyed the sunset without anyone obstructing our view. During the stargazing afterward, we were able to look at the moon through a telescope while sipping hot cocoa, and the guide explained the constellations. It was a packed experience, and I was very satisfied!
They also provided equipment for altitude sickness, such as warm clothing and oxygen masks, so I recommend the tour for anyone who has even a slight concern. The sandwiches they provided as a light snack were surprisingly delicious!

ワイコロアからピックアップしていただき、途中ビジターセンターで高所順応を兼ねた休憩から、マウナケア山頂まで、ガイドの方の説明で、ハワイ島の歴史やマウナケアの注意点など理解を深めることができました。
山頂はかなり人が多かったですが、ガイドの方のおすすめスポットに陣取り、誰にも視界を邪魔されずに日の入りを楽しむことができました。
その後の天体観測でも、ホットココアを飲みながら望遠鏡で月を見せていただいたり、星座を解説していただいたりなど、盛りだくさんの内容で大満足です！
防寒着や酸素マスクなど、高山病に備えた機材も準備されているので、少しでも不安がある方はツアーがおすすめです。
軽食で用意されていたサンドイッチも期待していなかったのですが非常に美味しかったです笑

The sunset spreading over the sea of clouds was truly breathtaking. While gazing at the sky changing colors moment by moment, I felt a precious sense of the Earth's vastness. The starry sky I saw afterward was also incredibly beautiful, a completely different world from the night sky I'm used to, and the experience of clearly seeing the Milky Way will surely become a lifelong memory.
It got quite chilly near the summit, but I was able to borrow warm clothing, allowing me to enjoy the experience outside until the end. I believe joining the tour was the right choice, and I was able to fully appreciate the charm of Mauna Kea.

At 63 years old, I tried a Segway for the first time! They really took the time to teach me how to use it properly. After learning how to use it, we practiced thoroughly at the facility before heading out for a short tour. At Ala Moana Park, they provided plenty of explanations about the plants, history, and even added some humor. On the way back, I was given recommendations for many reasonably priced and delicious restaurants. It was truly a fun attraction!

On the day of the trip, it was very foggy, and we waited a bit to see if we could make it to the summit, but we were able to get the ranger's permission and enjoyed a wonderful sunset and starry sky. It was 32% after the new moon, but there were no issues with stargazing. Our guide, Shotaro, was very kind and spoke Japanese well; he was perfect in every way. Any worries about altitude sickness disappeared, and it was the best time. The sandwiches we had at the summit were incredibly delicious!

I had heard that there were few Japanese tourists, so I was expecting an English tour, but luckily, we had a Japanese guide (Shoyo) because it was summer vacation. Not only could he speak Japanese, but he also had a wealth of knowledge, and I learned a lot of different things. He drove safely even on the rough mountain roads, making it an overall安心 tour. I'm glad I chose this tour company! 😊

The pineapple I received as a souvenir was cut and eaten fresh with my child at the condominium, and we also enjoyed it as frozen pineapple.

The doll factory tour was overwhelming with its vast pineapple fields, and I thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of nature. The guide's explanations were very clear, and I learned a lot of things I didn't know about how pineapples grow and their history!
What impressed me the most was how kind the guide was! Whenever I asked questions, they answered patiently and greeted me with a smile, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

Thanks to our guide's kind and attentive support, I was able to enjoy a wonderful time throughout the tour. The sunset from an altitude of 4,000 meters was breathtakingly beautiful, and I was deeply moved. The colors of the sky changed, creating a mystical atmosphere that left me in awe. Sho-taro, our guide, provided a very clear explanation of the stars, and I learned a lot about them. His personality was also wonderful, and I felt like I wanted to visit the Big Island again just to see him. I'm grateful for this amazing experience!
