I traveled to participate in the Honolulu Marathon. Previously, I had to go to the hotel, where I might not be able to communicate in Japanese at the front desk, leave my suitcase, and then head to the convention center, which was quite a waste of time and stressful. This time, I decided to stop by the lounge at Ala Moana Center from the airport. At the lounge, I could communicate in Japanese while leaving my suitcase, and it was less than a 10-minute walk to the Hawaii Convention Center to pick up my race number. It was very efficient and worked out great.

However, I would have liked to be informed in advance that once the departure time from Ala Moana is decided, it cannot be changed, such as through an announcement when making the reservation. I was surprised that it took almost an hour to get from Ala Moana to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa. First of all, Yamapi mentioned that they might only be able to continue for a few more years, so this wonderful experience is something you can only have now. Among the three companies with operating permits, you can only choose between the American company, which has just started a few years ago, or Yamapi's tour, excluding the rather careless Korean company. However, reaching the summit at 3055m (even by car) is more challenging than you might imagine. There is no more comfortable tour than Yamapi's, which has over 3000 successful runs and exceptional hospitality.
Also, even though it's a tour company, there are limits on the number of people they can take, so booking early is wise.
As for the tour content, it’s not just about being driven to the summit to casually watch the sunset and stars. Along the way, they explain about the towns of Lahaina and Kahului as you ascend the mountain. To avoid altitude sickness, they stop at a donut shop and make multiple restroom breaks, showing great attention to detail. Everyone buys a bento, and for some reason, the timing for the sunset is perfect, which is truly moving. You can also see the green flash, and Yamapi takes photos of each group. It's recommended to bring a digital camera rather than just a smartphone. Enjoy waiting for the night while eating your bento and stargazing. It’s not just about looking up at the night sky. The stargazing experience with two professional telescopes and explanations exceeds all expectations. It’s something you absolutely must see and hear. On the way back, they safely navigate the dark, steep roads.

まず、ヤマピーさんもあと数年しか続けられないと話されていますので、この素晴らしい体験が出来るのも今しかないってことです。催行許可を持っている三社の中で、最もいい加減な韓国系は除いて、まだ始めて数年の米国系 or ヤマピーさんのツアーどちらかに参加するしかありませんが、3055mへの登頂は（車で行くとはいえ）想像以上に厳しいのが事実。催行回数3000回を超えるヤマピーさんの経験とホスピタリティに勝る快適なツアーはありません。
また、ツアー会社といえど入山させることが出来る人数には制約上限りがありますので、早め早めの予約が吉です。
肝心のツアー内容ですが、単に車で山頂まで連れて行ってくれてサンセットと星空をぶらぶらと眺めて帰ってくるわけではありません。道中、ラハイナやカフルイの町を解説しながら山の中腹へ。高山病を避けるためにドーナツショップへ立ち寄り、トイレに複数回立ち寄る細やかな気配り。お弁当をみんなで買って、何故かタイミングバッチリのサンセットに感動。グリーンフラッシュも見られますし、ヤマピーさんが一組ずつ写真撮影してくれます。スマホよりはデジカメを持参することがおすすめ。お弁当を食べながら楽しく闇夜を待って、星空鑑賞。ただ夜空を見上げるだけじゃありません。プロ用の望遠鏡を2台使っての解説付き星空鑑賞は期待も想像も軽く超えてきます。絶対見るべき、聞くべきです。帰り道も真っ暗な急な坂道を安全運転でしっかり届けて回ってくれます。
書きながら思いましたが、まったく伝わらない気がしますね、このツアーの素晴らしさが。ほんと参加して、見て、聞いて、感心して感動してみて下さい。マウイ島へ来た意味が格段にアップします！

I absolutely wanted to visit Haleakalā when I went to Maui! Unfortunately, the sunrise wasn't very clear due to the weather. However, the sea of clouds was magnificent and had its own mystique. It was a one-hour mountain biking course. The staff accompanied us at the front and back, and at several spots, we stopped to listen to explanations and take photos. When I asked the staff to take pictures, they used props to create fun photos and videos, which was really enjoyable!

The mountain biking ended just after 10 AM, but the return bus only departed at 1 PM, leaving us with over two hours of free time... Since there were no other activities I wanted to add for an extra fee, I canceled the return bus (no refunds) and made my way back on my own with THE BUS.

Please be cautious if you choose to include transportation!

I was a bit worried about the early morning, or rather late night, pickup, but I was relieved when they arrived earlier than scheduled. Since it was an English tour, I was anxious, but the warm hospitality put me at ease. Also, the driver and guide, Neli, was fantastic!

It was a shame that I only understood about half of what was said, but he talked about important things in Hawaii (probably... haha) in a captivating way, which, combined with the enchanting nature of Haleakalā, made for a mysterious experience. During sunrise, he chanted, and that alone almost brought me to tears. It was truly a great tour. After descending the mountain, we enjoyed breakfast in a lovely place with a view of Haleakalā. MAHALO Nui Loa!!

早朝？というか夜中のピックアップで少し心配でしたが、予定より早く来てもらい安心しました。英語のツアーなので不安でしたが、温かい対応でほっとしました。また、バスを乗り換え、運転手兼ガイド、Neliが最高でした！！
半分ぐらいしかわからなかったのが残念でしたが、ハワイの大切なこととか（多分・・笑）話してくれるのですが、こちらが引き込まれるような語り方に、ハレアカラの幻想的な自然と相まって不思議な体験ができました。また、日の出の時には、チャントを唱えてくれてそれだけで涙が出そうでした。本当にいいツアーでした。山を下りてからの朝食も、目の前にハレアカラを望みながら、雰囲気のいいところでおいしく頂けました。MAHALO Nui Loa!!

I eat pineapple ice cream at Dole and shop at my usual store in Haleiwa. It's quite challenging to go alone, so this is very helpful. I can easily bring back a lot of shopping to Waikiki, which is convenient.

Pick up on time with the most interesting accommodating tour guide Marlon. Jammed packed with interesting information and being able to answer ever question. The coach was immaculate and very comfortable. Marlon gave a very interesting history of Honolulu and pointed out so many things of interest. His local knowledge and his history knowledge was remarkable. I highly recommend this tour. Family members chose to do Pearl Harbor on their own the day before us and although slightly cheaper missed out on so many things. When we got to Pearl Harbor Marlon gave us advice on the best way to see all the sights and he was so right. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough.

My first time on the Big Island. When I think of the Big Island, I think of the night views and stargazing at Mauna Kea, so I decided to join the tour.

The actual tour was truly fulfilling, and the scenery at Mauna Kea as it transitioned from sunset to night was amazing. Additionally, the guide took a lot of photos, creating wonderful memories.

To prevent altitude sickness, we were encouraged to drink water during the bus ride, and music was played to help keep us awake, which showed great consideration.

I would definitely recommend this to everyone!

はじめてのハワイ島。ハワイ島といえば、マウナケア山での夜景や星空観測だと思っていたので参加しました。
実際のツアーは本当に充実していて、夕焼け時から夜にかわるマウナケアでの景色が素晴らしかったです。また、ガイドさんが写真をたくさん撮ってくれ、とても良い思い出ができました＾＾
高山病にならないように、バスでの移動中に水を飲んだり眠らないようにするために音楽をかけていただいたりと、とても気づかいの感じられるツアーでした！
