Sunset and Stargazing was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We were taken to the top of Halakela to see the amazing views, then due to the crowds we went a little lower to a secluded viewing area, chairs were provided, snacks and tea. Watched a amazing sunset, were provided Jackets as it gets cold after the sunset. Stargazing was unreal! Two powerful Telescopes were used, saw stars and the craters of the moon like never have. It was a memory of a lifetime.

I wasn't confident about driving to the summit of Mauna Kea, so I decided to join a tour. In hindsight, it was a great decision!

They picked us up from Waikoloa, and after a break at the visitor center for altitude acclimatization, we made our way to the summit of Mauna Kea. With the guide's explanations, I was able to deepen my understanding of the history of the Big Island and important points about Mauna Kea.

Although the summit was quite crowded, we found a recommended spot by the guide and enjoyed the sunset without anyone obstructing our view. During the stargazing afterward, we were able to look at the moon through a telescope while sipping hot cocoa, and the guide explained the constellations. It was a packed experience, and I was very satisfied!

They also provided equipment for altitude sickness, such as warm clothing and oxygen masks, so I recommend the tour for anyone who has even a slight concern. The sandwiches they provided as a light snack were surprisingly delicious!

山頂はかなり人が多かったですが、ガイドの方のおすすめスポットに陣取り、誰にも視界を邪魔されずに日の入りを楽しむことができました。
その後の天体観測でも、ホットココアを飲みながら望遠鏡で月を見せていただいたり、星座を解説していただいたりなど、盛りだくさんの内容で大満足です！

防寒着や酸素マスクなど、高山病に備えた機材も準備されているので、少しでも不安がある方はツアーがおすすめです。
軽食で用意されていたサンドイッチも期待していなかったのですが非常に美味しかったです笑

First, we start with an easy hike. Enjoying the nature of Hawaii, we walk along a trail that takes about 30 minutes one way to the waterfall, where we take a break to listen to stories and enjoy the falls. The path is not steep, so even beginners can manage the hike.

After that, we move to Tantalus Lookout, where we enjoy the scenery before riding down on a mountain bike. The distance is about 4-5 km, and since it's all downhill, it's a refreshing ride. We take a route with very little traffic, so it was no problem to film with a GoPro. I was able to enjoy a different side of Hawaii!

On the day of the trip, it was very foggy, and we waited a bit to see if we could make it to the summit, but we were able to get the ranger's permission and enjoyed a wonderful sunset and starry sky. It was 32% after the new moon, but there were no issues with stargazing. Our guide, Shotaro, was very kind and spoke Japanese well; he was perfect in every way. They let you ride alone right away, and you get to experience long rides for extended periods, which is a riding style that you wouldn't find in Japan—it's truly moving!

During my first visit, they took many more photos, so I thought it would have been nice if they could have changed the order a bit so that I could have had my picture taken while riding as well. Since my family was at the front, I was disappointed that no one could take my picture.

I had a very meaningful time with a full two-hour horseback riding experience. Even if you don't understand English, they teach you patiently, and the horses are very smart, so I think it will be a fun experience even for beginners. It became my best memory on the Big Island. I would love to experience it again next time.

Driving a buggy myself while touring movie filming spots was amazing. It was refreshing to explore the vast grounds for about two hours. Although I ended up covered in dust from the swirling sand, it gave me a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment, which was fantastic.
