As everyone mentioned, the sunset was magical and wonderful. Additionally, we were lucky that it coincided with the new moon, so the stars were truly beautiful. We could see artificial satellites, shooting stars, and even the distant Kilauea volcano's crater glowing red in the darkness! I'm really glad I participated! In Masashi's tour, the bento provided was not in the usual takeout containers but in a traditional layered box, and instead of disposable chopsticks, we had real ones, and the miso soup was served in a bowl, which showed great thoughtfulness. Also, our guide, Konno, took some stylish photos that became wonderful keepsakes. Thank you!

The stars were incredible!
It was my first time reaching the summit in February, and the conditions for stargazing were perfect, so I was blessed with great timing and weather.
The travel time is long, but Stefan's entertaining talk makes the journey enjoyable.
Stargazing, one of my goals on the Big Island... it's something you should see at least once in your lifetime!

It was my first time in Hawaii, and since there was no Japanese-speaking guide on the tour, I was initially anxious. However, all the participants were fun people, and I had a great time! From the reception, I couldn't communicate in Japanese, but a very pleasant woman explained things using gestures. After checking in, I used the restroom, applied sunscreen, and waited until it was time for the tour. If you don't apply sunscreen here, you could end up with a bad sunburn after about seven hours. We boarded the rubber boat and headed out to see dolphins. We encountered many that day, and they were so cute as they chased after the boat! From there, we went to the snorkeling point. It was my first time snorkeling, but I was able to enjoy it thanks to the Japanese instructions provided. Along the way, we were served soft drinks, snacks, sandwiches, and fruits. The weather was great, making it even more special. On our way back, we were lucky enough to encounter a whale!!! It seems that this doesn't happen very often! It was a fun day spent with cheerful people.

初めてのハワイで日本語のガイドがいないツアーだったので初めは不安でしたが、参加者の皆さんも楽しい人たちばかりでとても楽しめました！受付からずっと日本語は通じませんでしたが、とても感じのいい女性がジェスチャーを交えて説明してくれます。受付の後はトイレを済ませ、日焼け止めを塗って、案内してもらうまで待ちます。ここで塗らないと7時間ほどかかるので真っ赤に焼けてしまいます。ゴムボートに乗り込みまずはイルカを見に行きます。この日はたくさん出会えました。ボートを追いかけてきてすごく可愛かったです！そこからシュノーケリングポイントへ行きます。シュノーケリングも初めてだったのですが、日本語の注意事項の表記で説明してもらい楽しく終えることができました。途中でソフトドリンクとお菓子やサンドイッチ、フルーツも出ました。天気も良かったので格別でした。帰り際、ラッキーなことに鯨に遭遇!!!こんなことはなかなかないみたいです！陽気な人たちと楽しく過ごした一日でした。

On the day of my arrival in Hawaii, I was feeling jet-lagged and didn't have the energy to move around, so I decided to stay at the King Kamehameha Hotel. At first, it was enjoyable, but as the evening progressed, it got a bit chilly for the beach show, and the food was just average. I started to get bored with the show. The dancing was beautiful, but the time spent listening to the host talk while the dancers changed backstage was very dull. I guess it really is a language barrier...

Definitely do this during your holiday! The sunset and scenery at Mauna Kea is out-of-this-world and impressive. The stargazing afterwards is fun, as well as amazing to see so many stars so brightly.

I participated in a tour called "Ocean Rafting & Lava Cave Adventure with Snorkeling at Kealakekua Bay" by Captain Zodiac.

Overview of the activity:
First, we boarded a rubber boat and headed out to sea. Despite being a lightweight rubber boat, it had two engines, so it was quite fast. The day was a bit windy with high waves, and we were told we might bounce around, but it was better than I had imagined. Shortly after setting off, we encountered a pod of dolphins. The dolphins, being curious, approached the boat and swam alongside us. We had time to take photos, and I managed to capture many pictures of the dolphins. As we continued, we encountered a whale next. Although the whale was cautious and we couldn't get too close, we were thrilled to see it breach!

At this point, I was already quite satisfied, but the boat continued to a calm cove where we enjoyed snorkeling. We had over an hour for snorkeling, which was fantastic. The water was clear, and there were plenty of corals, so we saw many tropical fish. After lunch, we returned to the port, and along the way, the guide showed us various sightseeing spots that could only be seen from the sea, including the site where the fire goddess Pele is said to have descended.

Positive points:
For the price, the activities were abundant, and I was very satisfied. Dolphin watching, whale watching, and snorkeling all in one tour is a great deal! The guides and the captain were very friendly, making for a fun time. The other passengers were also nice, which added to the enjoyment. Additionally, for water protection, they provided a large container for our mobile cameras. If you ask, they will take it out for you as many times as needed. They also kept our bags in a place where they wouldn't get wet, so there was no need to worry.

Negative points:
The tour is primarily in English. The guides and captain can speak a little Japanese, but since all the other passengers were English speakers, the main language was English. They can speak some basic Japanese, but communication might be difficult. My husband and I have studied abroad, so we had no issues with English, and we were very satisfied with the tour, but it might be tough for those who are not comfortable with English (I don't think this was mentioned on the website. Even if it was, it wasn't emphasized, so many might overlook it). Also, this tour is not suitable for those who get seasick. The boat is small, accommodating about ten people, so while it's fine when moving, it can sway a lot when stationary, which might be tough for those prone to seasickness. Taking motion sickness medication is essential.

Furthermore, although the tour title mentioned a lava cave adventure, we did not visit a lava cave. Also, since the boat has no roof, don't forget sunscreen and sunglasses. They provide an explanation at the beginning, but it's in English.

アクティビティーの概要。
先ずはゴムボートに乗って海に出ました。船体は軽いゴムボートなのにエンジンが二個付いてるのでスピードはかなり出ます。
当日は風が強めで波は高いので跳ねるかもと言われていましたが、想像してたよりは大丈夫でした。
船を走らせて直ぐにイルカの群れに遭遇しました。
イルカは好奇心旺盛なので船に近づいてくれて並走してくれました。
ゆっくりと写真を撮る時間を設けてもらえ沢山のイルカの写真を撮れました。
また、さらに船を走らせてると次はクジラに遭遇しました。
クジラは警戒心が強いのか近くで見ることはできませんでしたが、ブリーチを見ることができて迫力満点で興奮しました！
これの時点で、かなり満足していましたが、船はさらに走り、波の穏やかな入江に行きシュノーケリングを堪能しました。
時間も1時間以上取ってもらえたので大満足です。
水の透明度は良くて珊瑚もたくさんあるので熱帯魚も多く見れました。
その後昼食を取り港に戻ったのですが途中に岸壁にある火の女神ペレが降臨したという場所やその他沢山の海からしか見れない観光スポットを案内してくれました。
良かった点。
値段の割にアクティビティーが盛りだくさんで大満足です。
イルカウォッチング、ホエールウォッチング、シュノーケリング。
単発のツアーもありますがこの値段で全てを網羅できるのはお値打ちです！
またガイドさん、船長さんも凄く気さくな方で楽しい時間でした。また同船者もいい方ばかりでとても楽しかったです。
また、水対策として、携帯カメラは大きいタッパに入れてくれます。
必要な時に伝えれば何度でも出してくれます。バッグも水のかからない場所に置いてくれるので心配ないです。
悪かった点。
基本、英語のみのツアーです。ガイドさん、船長さんも若干日本語を話せますが同船者が皆英語なので基本英語です。片言、単語レベルで日本語を話してくれますがコミュニケーションはとれません。
私たち夫婦は留学経験もあるので英語は問題なく、ツアー自体は大満足ですが、英語が苦手な方は少し辛いかもしれません。（ホームページにも書かれてなかったと思います。書いてあったとしても全面に出てないので見逃す方が多いと思います。）
あと、船酔いをする人には向きません。ボートが10人乗りぐらいの小さなものなので走ってる間はいいのですが停泊中は大きく揺れるので船酔いのきつい人は辛いかもしれません。酔い止めは必須です。
あと、ツアータイトルに溶岩洞窟アドベンチャーとありましたが溶岩洞窟は行きませんでした。
また、船に屋根が無いので日焼け止めやサングラスセットもお忘れなく。
最初に説明はされますが英語です。
総合評価は大満足です。しかし、英語でも大丈夫（分からなくても気にしない）という方にはお勧めですが絶対日本語じゃなきゃだめという人にはお勧めできません。
それを差し引いても値段面を考慮するとお値打ちなツアーなのではないでしょうか。
私は友人に是非とも勧めたいアクティビティーです。

On the day of the tour, the weather was clear with a blue sky, but unfortunately, we couldn't reach the summit due to strong winds. However, we were able to see a beautiful sunset just below the Mauna Kea Visitor Center, and later, we enjoyed stargazing until the moon rose. Despite the challenging conditions of strong winds and the bright moon making it hard to see the stars, it was wonderful to look up at the night sky with the other participants, listen to interesting explanations, and enjoy warm tea and biscuits. Although it was disappointing not to reach the summit of Mauna Kea, I had a fantastic time and created lovely memories!

I participated with my wife and our middle school son, and we were extremely satisfied with the tour as we were able to see not only dolphins but also the whales we had dreamed of.

Since we were dealing with wild dolphins, we first had to search for them, but right after departing, we quickly spotted a pod of dolphins. Our excitement was palpable. Captain Nawata and Daisuke, who was in charge of snorkeling, accurately assessed the points and, following their signals, we entered the water to find an unexpected number of dolphins right in front of us. They didn’t forcefully approach the dolphins; instead, they read their movements and positioned the boat where the dolphins were likely to pass. We were able to see over 100 dolphins up close. At times, they swam joyfully just 1 or 2 meters away from us, which was an incredible experience.

This time of year is suitable for whale watching, and while searching for dolphins, we also got to see whales spouting quite close by. Whales are strictly protected, so we couldn’t approach them, but again, the professionals did a great job. We were able to see the whales up close. The highlight was hearing the sounds of the whales while snorkeling. It was such a lovely sound!

There seem to be similar tours available, but I’ve heard that some groups have poor manners, and on the day of our tour, the Coast Guard was conducting inspections. Aloha Kona Tours, the company we participated with, gave the impression of having a solid policy and experience in this regard, which made us feel very safe and able to enjoy ourselves.

However, my son had a tough time with seasickness. Fortunately, there were no other groups that day, so they were able to take breaks according to my son's condition, which helped him recover. I think it’s best for those who are prone to seasickness to take medication beforehand. My son looked quite uncomfortable, but he managed to hang in there until the end thanks to the sight of the dolphins and whales and the warm support from the staff.

We would definitely love to participate again.

妻と中二の息子と３人で参加しましたが、イルカだけでなく夢だったクジラも見ることができ、とにかく大満足のツアーでした。

相手は野生のイルカですので、まずどこにいるのかを探すことになりますが、出港直後すぐにイルカの群れを発見。期待がいやがおうにも盛り上がります。ツアーに同行してくれたキャプテンの縄田さん、シュノーケリングを担当するダイスケさんが的確にポイントを判断し、合図に合わせて海に入ると想像以上のイルカたちの群れが目の前に。決して無理やりイルカに近づくのではなく、彼らの動きを読んであらかじめ彼らが通ると思われる位置に船を止め、海に入ったところをイルカたちが通過していくのですが、やはりプロですね。合計100頭以上のイルカたちを間近に見ることができました。近い時は1、2mという距離まで近いところを楽しげに泳いでいくイルカたち、最高の経験でした。

この時期はホエールウオッチングに適した時期ということもあり、イルカを探す間にもかなり近くでクジラが潮を吹く姿が観れました。クジラも厳しく保護されていますので、こちらからクジラに近づくことはできないのですが、やはりプロですね。かなり近くでクジラを見ることができました。圧巻だったのはシュノーケリングの時にクジラの声が聞こえたことです。すごく愛おしい声でしたよ！

同じようなツアーは他にもあるようですがマナーが悪い団体もあるらしく、当日もCoast Guardが取り締まりを行っていました。今回参加したAloha kona Toursさんは、その点しっかりとしたポリシーと経験をお持ちという印象で、とても安心して楽しめました。

ただ、息子が船酔いで大変でした。今回は幸い他のグループがいなかったので、息子の状況に合わせて途中で休憩をとっていただけたので持ち直しましたが、酔いやすい方はやはり酔い止めを飲んでいかれた方がよいと思います。息子もかなり辛そうでしたが、イルカやクジラの姿とスタッフの方々の温かい対応で最後まで頑張ることができました。

また是非、参加させていただきます。

Two years ago, I was so moved during my first participation that I wanted to meet the dolphins again, so this is my second time.

This time, they mentioned that the waves were rolling and the sea's transparency wasn't great, so if we could see the dolphins at all, it meant they were quite close. However... it was incredible! There were so many dolphins, and they were super close. They are just so cute... it was the best.

It seemed like the dolphins were enjoying themselves, as if they understood our guide, Daisuke. The photos he took of us from underwater turned out beautifully, and I was really touched.

Last time was in October, but this time in January, we also had the chance to see whales, and even though they were far away, we did spot some... Thank you to Captain Nawata for searching so hard for them.

I will definitely go back to be healed again. Of course, I will also go to see the manta rays.

今回は、波がうねっているということで、海の透明度がいまいちなのでイルカちゃんの姿が少しでも見えたらかなり近くにいると思ってくださいね。ということでしたが・・・
とんでもない、めちゃめちゃ近くにたくさんのイルカちゃん。やっぱりかわい～・・・最高です。

ガイドのダイスケ君のことをわかっているようで、イルカちゃんも楽しんでいるようでしたよ。海の中からダイスケ君が撮ってくれた私たちの写真も素敵に撮れていて感動です。

前回は１０月でしたが今回は１月でクジラちゃんに会うこともあるということで、遠くでしたがクジラちゃんの姿も・・・キャプテンの縄田さん一生懸命探してくださってありがとうございました。

Although we received a notification that the meeting place had changed, our Wi-Fi router ran out of battery on the way, and we couldn't arrive on time. Feeling quite upset, we were lucky enough to meet a staff member who happened to be there after the boat had already departed, and they helped us rebook for the next day. We were not charged any fees and received kind assistance, which was a relief.

The next day, our group consisted of my husband and me, along with an American family of six, including elementary and middle school children. We set off together. The boat moved at quite a speed, jumping over the waves, and my husband, who easily gets seasick, didn't have time to feel nauseous (laughs). I think the distance was long. As someone who loves roller coasters, I found it exhilarating.

The waters of Kealakekua Bay were filled with beautiful tropical fish, and dolphins swam close by, which made for a very satisfying experience. 翌日は、私達夫婦と、小学生と中学生位の子供のいるアメリカ人ファミリー計６人で乗り合って出港。かなりのスピードで海原をジャンピングしながら進む船に、船酔いしやすい主人も、酔う暇がない位（笑）距離も長かったと思います。ジェットコースターが大好きな私は、気持ち良かったです。
ケアラケクア湾の海は、きれいな熱帯魚があちこちに沢山いて、ちょうどイルカもすぐ近くまで泳いできたりと、大満足でした。船の上で、スナックやジュースを飲食する時間もありました。船長の軽いジョークになごやかな雰囲気。この時間の方が、船の揺れを感じて主人の船酔いを心配した感じです。（でも酔わずに済みました）
帰りはあちこちの洞窟？をまわってくれましたが、洞窟の中にはいるのではなく、目の前まで
いって岩肌や波で削られた場所を間近にみるというものでした・・。
でも、海側からみるハワイ島の雄大さも格別で、とても良い体験ができたと思っています。

We were picked up at the hotel and headed to the Onizuka Visitor Center (about 2800m above sea level). As we sped along the highway, we listened to our guide explain about the black cattle, sheep, and goats raised on a ranch on the Big Island. After joining up with other tour guests, we began our ascent up the mountain. About an hour and a half after the pickup, we arrived at the Onizuka Visitor Center. We had dinner from our bento boxes and took a stroll around the area. I was amazed by the stunning silver color of the silversword (a native species of the Big Island, Mauna Kea Silver Sword), and since this is also a sacred site for Hawaiians, I discovered a prayer area (the original form of an altar), which piqued my interest. It was clear that prayers were directed toward the mountain.

Dressed in warm clothing, we got back in the vehicle. The car began to climb the bumpy mountain road that could only be navigated by a four-wheel drive. After about an hour of rough terrain, we reached the summit. As expected, at 4200m on Mauna Kea, we could see the sea of clouds far below. Due to the high altitude, it is said to be 99% clear. There are 13 observatories at the summit, one of which is the Subaru Telescope. 　太陽が沈むと、天空にだんだんと星が見えてきます。うっすらと太陽の通る道も見え、寒くもなってきます。オリオン座、カシオペア座、北極星を見つけました。そこまでが私の知識の限界。やがてガイドさんが、レザーポインターを使い、誕生星座をツアー客に質問しながら、天空に広がる星座の紹介です。ギリシャ神話の世界が広がります。オリオン座の大星雲、双子座，水瓶座、双子座、天秤座、さらにはスバルなど、もちろん、既に沈んだ星座もあります。私の星座は、オリオンが出ているときは見えません。残念。

After reading Satomi Kobayashi's "Aloha Spirit," I was looking forward to experiencing horseback riding in Waipi'o Valley when I visited the Big Island! About half of the participants were Japanese, and the other half were from English-speaking countries. There were only Japanese among the Asian participants.

It was my first time horseback riding, and I was nervous, but it was a very kind and enjoyable experience. I walked through the river and felt that I would like to try horseback riding again. It was a great experience to feel the great nature of Waipi'o Valley up close.

In the ocean illuminated by LED lights, I had the incredible experience of witnessing a mystical manta ray dance up close, which made me forget the long hours and cold I had felt in the water until then. On the way to the manta point, we were unexpectedly surprised to see a mother and baby whale just a few dozen meters away, making for an unforgettable few hours, not to mention the beauty of the sunset.

All these experiences were thanks to Daisuke, our guide who knows the ecology of the waters around the Big Island, including the manta rays and whales, and the trust and cooperation with other tour guides. They know the names of all the mantas living around the Big Island (the one we encountered was named Eli) and can predict the whales' next actions. (By the way, in the U.S., it is prohibited to approach whales within 90 meters, and the same applies to whale watching, so it was truly lucky that they appeared within just a few dozen meters.)

While this is an everyday occurrence for Daisuke and the others, they understand that for us, it was a first-time, rare, once-in-a-lifetime experience, and they work hard to ensure we have an amazing time. Initially, I spotted a manta near the sea floor as soon as I entered the water, but then I couldn't see any for several minutes as we moved around. Thanks to Daisuke's determination to let us see another manta, we were eventually treated to a dreamlike scene. The sight of divers going deep, the LED lights they shone from below, the approximately 100 people floating in the night sea to see the mantas, and the fish swarming around the plankton right in front of us was nothing short of magical.

I thought $140 for a few hours of snorkeling was a bit much, but considering the costs of operating a boat (gasoline prices on the Big Island are 1.5 to 2 times higher than on the mainland) and the need for a boat operator (it was Taku), I believe the tour price is reasonable. For reference, we drove to the location, but the roads can get congested on weekday evenings, so I recommend allowing extra time. Also, it's a good idea to carefully check for signs and landmarks to find the meeting point.

It's best to minimize your belongings and not leave too much in the car, but be prepared for the cold during the 20-minute return to the port after coming out of the water (I was so cold that I couldn't stop shivering for a while). There are no showers after getting out, and changing is done in public restrooms. To capture the magical sights, it's a good idea to prepare a camera like a GoPro, but since you need to hold onto a surfboard with handles while moving in the water, it can be challenging to keep both hands free for photography, so I recommend it only for those who are experienced.

(ところで米国ではクジラに90m以内に近付くことが禁止されており、ホエールウォッチングでも同様で、偶然にも数十メートル以内に現れたのは本当にラッキーでした。)

Daisukeさん達にとっては毎日のことですが、我々にとっては初めて・滅多にない・一生に一度のことということをよく心得ていて、より素晴らしい経験をできるように懸命に努力してくださいます。最初は海に入ってすぐに一瞬、マンタを海底近くに見たのですが、その後数十分全く見られず、あちらこちに移動しました。それでも何とかもう一度マンタを見てもらいたい！という一心のDaisukeさんのお陰で、最後には夢のような光景を目にすることができました。また、ダイバー達が深くもぐる様子、彼らが下から照らすLEDの光、マンタを見るために夜の海に浮かんでいる100人程の人々、目の前でプランクトンに群がる魚の数々は幻想的の一言以外の何物でもありませんでした。

数時間のスノーケリングに$140かと思い、モニター特典を利用しましたが、船を出すこと(ハワイ島のガソリン代は米国本土の1.5~2倍です)、船の操縦士(Takuさんでした)も必要なこと等々考えると、納得のいくツアー代だと思います。
参考までに、我々は現地まで車で行きましたが、平日の夕方は道路が込むので、余裕を持って行くことをお勧めします。また集合地点に辿り着くのにも、看板や目印などをよく確認した方がいいです。
荷物はなるべく車に残さない方がいいので最小限にすべきですが、海から上がった後から港に戻るまで20分程の間、寒いこともある(寒くてしばらく震えが止まりませんでした)ので、羽織るタオルなどしっかり準備してください。あがってからシャワーはなく、着替えは公衆トイレとなります。
幻想的な光景をいつまでも残すにはGoProなどカメラを準備すると良いですが、海の中での移動にも終始、取っ手のついたサーフボードに捕まっていなければならず、両手でも捕まり続けることは大変なので、海の中での写真撮影は慣れている方のみお勧めします。

世界中でマンタが容易に見られるスポットは少ないようです。我々日本人にとっては、石垣島についで、ハワイ島が一番アクセスしやすい場所のようですので、ハワイ島ではぜひマンタツアーに参加してみてください。

The plan was to meet on-site, but I ended up arriving late. I was worried that "the boat had already departed and I might not be able to participate..." However, I was warmly welcomed and they quickly explained the tour to me. I truly felt sorry for the delay, and I was grateful for their flexible response.

The tour began, and we boarded the boat to the manta ray spot. The wind felt nice, and the swaying boat was like a theme park ride, which was fun. On the way to the spot, we even saw a whale up close, turning the manta tour into a whale watching experience. The instructor's explanations were also entertaining. We saw a mother and baby whale waving their fins and blowing water, which was already moving before we even met the mantas.

After moving to the manta spot, we waited in the water for the mantas to appear. We floated on large boogie boards, waiting for the mantas to come, attracted by the plankton gathered in the light. Not only mantas, but we also saw plenty of fish, so the waiting time wasn't boring at all. It felt like putting your face in an aquarium tank.

Finally, the mantas appeared, and the instructor pulled us close to them. The mantas swam gracefully, opening their mouths wide and turning while eating plankton, which was truly magical. マンタスポットへ移動後、マンタが現れるのを待って海へ。ビート板の大きい判みたいな物に掴まってプカプカ浮かんで、光に集まったプランクトン目当てのマンタが来るのを待ちました。マンタだけでなく、お魚もいっぱい見れるので、待ち時間も退屈ではなかったです。例えるなら、水族館の水槽に顔をつける感じでしょうか。
いよいよ、マンタが現れ、インストラクターの方が近くまで引っ張って行ってくださいました。ヒラヒラと泳ぐマンタが、大きく口を開けて、一回転しながらプランクトンを食べていて、本当に幻想的でした。「もう少しでぶつかる！」と思うくらいの15cmの距離で見れたんです。想像以上にマンタは大きくて、優雅で、夢の中にいるような時間でした。

もう少し見ていたいくらいでしたが、あまり長い時間いると体が冷えてしまうとのことでボートへ戻り港へ帰ることに。途中、本当に寒くなってきてしまって、「インストラクターさん言う事は間違いないな」と関心しました。濡れた体で震えていましたが、マンタに会えた幸せな気持ちと奇麗な星空で、心は満足な帰路でした。

ハワイ島に行く目的の一つがマンタだったくらい期待していたツアーだったのですが、期待を裏切らない感動を与えてくれるものでした。お勧めします。

On January 9th, my friend and I participated in a Captain Zodiac tour. We were the only two Japanese among 16 foreigners, and I was anxious because I had heard there wouldn't be a Japanese guide. However, they provided a Japanese explanation sheet and spoke slowly, so we were able to participate without any issues.

We took a boat to Kealakekua Bay, and at first, I was scared because the boat was moving at such high speed that I felt like I might be thrown off. But gradually, it became fun. I had read in previous comments that the rafting wasn't very thrilling, but I found it quite exciting and enjoyable. Moreover, we were lucky enough to see a mother and baby whale and their tails along the way.

During snorkeling, the coral was incredibly beautiful, and the fish seemed accustomed to people, allowing us to observe them closely without fleeing. They allocated plenty of time for snorkeling, so after getting tired and taking a break on the boat, we could go back into the water and enjoy it at a leisurely pace. It wasn't a problem for us since we had experienced snorkeling the day before, but I felt a bit concerned that all the explanations were in English for first-timers. However, the captain was very kind and communicated a lot through gestures, so I think it would be okay.

For the cave experience, we approached the cave with the boat, and it felt more like an explanation about the cave rather than an exploration. But on the way back, we encountered a pod of dolphins and a sea turtle, which made the experience very satisfying.

I think this is an activity you can't experience in Japan, so I highly recommend participating if you come to the Big Island!

１月9日、友人と二人でキャプテンゾディアックのツアーに参加しました。外国人16人に対して日本人は私達２人で、しかも日本語ガイドはないと事前に聞いていて不安だったのですが、日本語の説明書を準備してくれていて、ゆっくりしゃべってくれたりしたので、問題なく参加できました。
ケアラケクア湾までボートで行ったのですが、すごいスピードで進むので、ボートから飛ばされそうで初めは怖かったですが、だんだん楽しくなりました。以前コメントに、ラフティングと書いてあるがそんなにスリルはなかったと書いてあったので、なめていたなと思うぐらいスリルがあり楽しかったです。しかも、途中で親子クジラの姿やその尾びれも見れてすごくラッキーでした。
シュノーケリングでは珊瑚がすごく綺麗で、魚も人に慣れているのか近くまで寄っても逃げず、じっくり観察できました。シュノーケリングの時間を多く取ってくれているので、疲れて一度ボートに上がって休憩した後、もう一度海に入ることができ、ゆっくり楽しめました。ただ私達は前日にシュノーケリングを経験していたので問題なかったですが、初めての人だと説明が全て英語なので、その点が少し不安かなと感じました。でもキャプテンがすごく優しく、色々と身振り手振りでしてくれるので、大丈夫な気もします。
洞窟体験では洞窟近くにボートに近づいて、洞窟について説明してくれるという感じだったので、洞窟探検かな？という印象でした。でも帰りにイルカの群れや海亀に会えて、大満足の内容でした。
日本では体験できないようなアクティビティだと思うので、ハワイ島に来たらぜひ参加することをお勧めします！

On January 8th, I participated with a friend. There were a total of six participants, including four foreigners and the two of us.

We traveled near Kona Airport to go to a spot to see night manta rays by boat. The boat sped quite fast from the harbor to the airport, which felt like an activity in itself and was fun. Along the way, we encountered a whale and were thrilled to see its tail.

When we arrived at the spot, we had to wait until it got completely dark for the plankton to gather, so we entered the water once it was dark. All the participants held onto a board with blue lights and floated to see the manta rays. My friend couldn’t swim, and since it was my first time swimming in the ocean at night, I was anxious, but the staff had two people with us on the boat, which made me feel safe.

Most importantly, the blue lights attracted a lot of plankton, so the manta rays came right up to us, making me forget my anxiety out of excitement. We were briefed beforehand not to touch the manta rays to avoid harming them, but they came so close that it felt impossible not to, and it was incredibly fun.

Since we went in January, it was quite cold when we got out of the water due to the wind, but I was very grateful that they prepared hot cocoa and cup noodles for us.

When it comes to sightseeing on the Big Island, people usually think of dolphin or whale watching, but I think night manta rays in the ocean are also a great option. I definitely want to participate again.

マンタが目の前まで来るので、、興奮で不安な気持ちも忘れました。
事前にマンタを傷つけないようにマンタには触れないでという説明を受けたのですがそんなこと無理というくらい目の前まで来て、すごく楽しかったです。
行ったのが一月だったので、海から上がると風もありかなり寒かったですが、ホットココアとカップラーメンを準備してくれていてとてもありがたかったです。
ハワイ島の観光となるとイルカやクジラウォッチングかなと思いますが、夜の海でナイトマンタもいいかなと思います。是非また参加したいと思います。

I have experienced horseback riding in Hawaii several times, and here you can ride through the river, and the dogs that are kept here are adorable, which is irresistible for dog lovers ❤. However, mosquitoes attacked us while riding, so we got bitten a lot. My daughter (who might be under 18) didn't want to wear the helmet because it smelled bad, but the cuteness of the horses made up for it. I wore water shoes so that my shoes wouldn't get dirty. ハワイでの乗馬体験は数回利用してますがこちらは川の中を乗馬したりこちらに飼われているワンコたちも愛らしくて犬好きにはたまらない❤
ただ、蚊が乗馬中に襲ってくるので刺されまくり、娘は（１８歳未満だったかな）はヘルメット着用がヘルメットが臭いので嫌がってましたが馬の可愛さでチャラになります。

We participated as a couple. Since we had a rental car, we joined the local meeting plan. I mistakenly went to the wrong meeting place, but it seemed to be a common issue, and they came to check on us, so we arrived safely.

I usually get seasick easily, but for some reason, I was completely fine this time. Before swimming with the dolphins, we spotted whales two or three times, and one of those times, we were able to see them incredibly close.

We found the main group of dolphins! Everyone quickly got ready, and they were really close!! We could swim within reach of them, and we did so multiple times. There were participants who weren't great swimmers, but our guide, Daisuke, escorted them. Since we could swim relatively freely, those who were good at swimming could enjoy themselves.

It was truly a fun tour, and I felt like I could swim forever! Captain Nawata and guide Daisuke are both very knowledgeable about the ocean, whales, and dolphins. If I visit the Big Island again, I will definitely participate again.

夫婦２人で参加してきました。レンタカーがあったので、現地集合プランで参加。集合場所を間違っていましたが、よくあることのようでそこまで見に来ていただき無事到着できました。
すぐ船酔いする私ですが、このときはなぜかまったく平気でした。
イルカと泳ぐまでにも、クジラを２～３回見れ、そのうち１回はものすごく近くで見ることができました。
メインのイルカも群れで発見!すぐにみんなで準備をして、ほんとに間近!!
手を伸ばせば届く範囲で泳ぐことができました。それも何度も。
泳ぎの苦手な参加者の方もいらっしゃいましたが、ガイドのダイスケさんがエスコートしてくれます。ある程度自由に泳げるので、泳ぎの得意な方はそれぞれ泳げます。
ほんとに楽しいツアーでいくらでも泳いでいたい気持ちでいっぱいでした！
船長の縄田さん・ガイドのダイスケさんも海・クジラ・イルカちゃんを知り尽くしている方々です。
またハワイ島を訪れたら、必ず参加すると思います。

My experience during the New Year was just the beginning, but from now until around March, humpback whales will be migrating south to Hawaii, so they can be seen quite well. The lookout staff and the captain pointed out, "Over there!" As we moved closer, we saw a mother and calf, along with various other forms, spouting water and showing their tails as they dove... Towards the end, they chased the boat and swam underneath it. Such an experience is hard to come by, but those who are prone to seasickness should be careful.

私の行った年末年始はまだ序の口のようですがこの後３月くらいまでハワイではザトウくじらが散乱の為に南下してきますからよく見えます。
見張り役の方々とキャプテンがあの辺り！火事を進めて行くと２匹親子で、雄のみなど様々な形態で
潮を吹き尻尾を見せて潜ったり・・・・最後の方は船を追いかけてくぐって行きました。
こんな体験はなかなか出来ませんが、船酔いする方は注意してくださいね

Hawaii Lifeguard Surf Instructors - Kona Private & Semi-Private Surfing Lessons

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a brief lesson in the classroom where the lady that checked us in gave us a brief history of their operations and then explained the does and don'ts of surfing. We practiced the three steps to stand up a few times in the classroom then sent us to the beach that's an easy 4mi straight down alii dr. Just as we left, the other couple that was supposed to be in our group arrived (a half hour late). The instructor was very friendly to them even though the girl was acting like being late was somehow the instructors fault. We went to the beach where we met the water instructors and waited for the other couple to finish the classroom session. The instructors were super friendly and answered any questions we could think to ask them. When the other couple arrived, the fun began. There was only one couple per instructor, and they had us standing within minutes! They also made sure we got a full 2 hours of water time (and maybe a smidge extra) despite the other couple's delay. Great experience, highly recomend!
