It was cold, but according to the guide, it was "warm enough." The moon was thin, and both the sunset and the starry sky were beautiful.

寒いことは寒いですが、ガイドさん曰く「暖かいぐらい」だったそうです。
月も細い時期で、サンセットも星空も綺麗に見えました。

I participated with two friends for the first time on the Big Island. Although it was November, which is said to be the rainy season, we were blessed with beautiful weather, clear skies, and no wind. The sunset sinking into the sea of clouds was truly magnificent, making us forget the cold as we were captivated by it.

I had used Masashi Nature School before, and I could tell that the guide's explanations were very clear and that they had studied a lot about Hawaii and volcanoes. The bento box was, of course, delicious, but I especially appreciated the hot miso soup served in the cold; it was a thoughtful touch.

However, it was a day close to the supermoon, so the sky was bright, and the stars weren't as clearly visible, which was a bit disappointing and left me not completely satisfied. Next time, I will aim for a new moon.

ハワイ島が始めての友人二人と参加しました。
雨季と言われる11月ですがお天気に恵まれ快晴で風もなく雲海に沈む夕陽はそれはそれは素晴らしく寒さを忘れて見入ってしまうほどでした。
マサシネイチャースクールは以前にも利用させてもらいましたがガイドの方の説明がとてもわかりやすくハワイの事、火山の事をよく勉強されているのがよくわかりました。
幕の内のお弁当ももちろん美味しかったのですが
寒い所で出して頂いた熱いお味噌汁は有り難く心遣いを感じました。
ただスーパームーンが近い日だったので空が明るくて星がくっきりきれいに見えなかったのが残念で大満足にはなりませんでした。
次回は新月の時を狙います。

Waipio Valley Horseback Ride was such a great and fun experience for my entire family! The scenery was beautiful and riding the horses was very exciting too. Even if it was our first time riding horseback, the guides were very calm and helpful throughout the ride. We absolutely loved it!!

As expected, most participants were couples or groups, but the guide was kind and I enjoyed it even as a solo traveler. I also enjoyed the guide about the entire Big Island and the constellation lecture along the way.

やはりカップルや複数人での参加がほとんどですがガイドさんも親切で一人でも楽しめました。道中のハワイ島全体のガイドや星座講座も楽しめました。

I participated in this for my honeymoon! The reviews were very good, so my expectations were quite high, but it easily exceeded them. The guide was always sharing various information and was very kind throughout the tour! They also provided warm clothing, so I was able to enjoy the sunset at the cold mountaintop, and the stargazing along the way was fantastic, with clear explanations that were interesting and enjoyable. It was a great tour that I would love to join again if I have the chance! Thank you very much!

It was my first time riding a horse, and I was quite nervous since I'm not very good at English! However, they communicated important words like right, left, pull, and kick in Japanese, so I was able to manage some communication.

Taking a leisurely walk on horseback through the refreshing valley became a wonderful memory!

Pros: Our guide was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot. You go from sea level to about 13,800 feet, so remember to drink water. The views at 13,803 feet were beautiful. The observatories are interesting to see (from the outside). You observe stars with an 11" telescope at the visiter center parking lot. The guide points out stars/planets that everyone gets a chance to see. They give you jackets with gloves available.

Cons: It is a bumpy ride and some of the road is dirt. The "hot" meal was more of a box lunch. Bathroom breaks are limited. You do climb to 14,000', be prepared for the climate and altitude change. I was under the impression we could see more of the observatories, you only see them from the outside and are not allowed in.

It was my first time so I was a little nervous. The guides helped ease my fear and I loved it. The 7 lines were just right for me. It started out short and easy and saved the longest and best for last. Would do it again. Well wort it.

The view from the ground was a breathtaking sight unlike anything I had ever seen before. The sunset from the summit of Mauna Kea was like something you would see from an airplane, with the sun sinking into a sea of clouds. It was grand and stunningly beautiful!

At 4,200 meters, the summit is higher than Mount Fuji, and I was very worried about altitude sickness. However, the tour operator's careful consideration ensured that I was safe. I could feel my body acclimating during a dinner break at the Onizuka Visitor Center, which is at an elevation of 2,800 meters. We were well-prepared for the cold. Everyone borrowed orange ski wear, and it made for quite a striking photo. Regular visitors can only drive to the Onizuka Center, and it seems that only a few tour companies can take you to the summit from there.

After the sunset, it was finally time for stargazing! With high expectations, we descended 200 meters and looked up at the night sky from a 4,000-meter point... but the moonlight was a bit of a hindrance, and I thought, "Is this it?" The moon was quite bright, being slightly fuller than a first quarter moon.

Even so, the sky was filled with countless stars, with Venus, Saturn, Mars, and Polaris shining brightly, and we could see the Milky Way. The constellation explanations were quite detailed, making it clear why this is a nature school, and it was genuinely interesting. I was told that if I wanted to see only the stars in complete darkness, I should come back on a new moon day, and I understood why many people return for a "revenge" trip.

What was wonderful about Masashi Nature School was their concern for the participants' health, the delicious bento and miso soup, the thoughtful service of warm coffee, tea, and cookies during our cold and tiring breaks, and their photography skills, along with the service of allowing us to download the photos later... perhaps I'm praising them too much?

In any case, it was a thoroughly satisfying tour!

地上からは今までに見た事のない絶景でした。マウナケアの山頂からのサンセットは飛行機から見る様なもので、雲海に日が沈んでいくのです。壮大で息をのむような美しさでした！
4200mの山頂は富士山よりも高く私は高山病がとても心配でした。でも、催行者さんのしっかりとした配慮があり無事でした。標高2800mのオニズカビジターセンターで夕食を兼ねた休息で体が慣れていくのがわかりました。寒さ対策も万全でした。全員オレンジ色のスキーウェアを借りて写真を撮るとちょっと迫力がありました。一般の人がレンタカーで行けるのはこのオニズカセンター迄でここから先の山頂迄は数社のツアー会社しか行けないそうです。
サンセットの後はいよいよ満天の星空観測！と、期待満々で200m下山、4000mのポイントで夜空を見
上げてみると‥‥月明かりが邪魔をしてえっ？こんなモノ？くらいの星だったのです。この日は上弦の月よりも少し膨らんだ月で相当明るい月明かりでした。
それでも空には数えきれない星で金星、土星、火星、北極星は凄く明るく光っていて、天の川も見えました。星座はかなり詳しい解説でネイチャースクールの所以はこれかと言う程本格的で面白かったですね。真っ暗闇で星だけを見たかったら新月の日にリベンジして下さいと言われ納得しました。現にリベンジのリピーターは多いそうです。
マサシネイチャースクールさんの素晴らしかった所は、先ず参加者の体調を気にかけてくれた点、お弁当やお味噌汁がかなり美味しかった点、寒くて疲れた休息に温かいコーヒーや紅茶、クッキーを出してくれる心憎いサービス、そして写真を撮る技術、後で写真をダウンロードさせて貰えるサービス‥‥などなど褒めすぎかな?

とにかく大満足のツアーでした！

It was a great decision to join the tour since it's a place we couldn't have accessed on our own. The thrill before horseback riding was fantastic! The horses were well-trained, which made me feel secure. However, the course was a bit monotonous, and I got bored halfway through. I wished we could have gone to a spot with a better view.

自分たちでは行くことのできない場所なのでツアーに入って正解でした。乗馬するまでにスリルたっぷり！でした。馬はよく慣らされていて、安心感がありました。ただ、コースが単調で途中で飽きてしまいました。見晴らしのいい場所まで行きたかったです。

It was really great to join a tour to reach the summit of Mauna Kea, as it's difficult to go there on your own. The sunset from the summit was a truly magical sight. As for stargazing, instead of the usual observation from the Onizuka Visitor Center, they took us to the best spot of the day and provided explanations in Japanese, making it very enjoyable and easy to understand.

マウナケア山頂へは個人では行きにくいので、ツアーに参加して本当に良かったです。
山頂からのサンセットはとても幻想的に光景でした。
星空観測についても、よくあるオニヅカビジターセンターからの観測ではなく、その日のベストスポットに連れて行ってくれ、日本語で説明をしてくれるので、とても楽しくわかりやすかったです。

We had a great time, the guides were friendly and the equipment was well maintained. I would do it again.

From the meeting point, we took a van down a steep slope to the valley. You can experience the old-fashioned Hawaii that you wouldn't normally see.

Besides our family, there were two families from Europe and America participating. The explanations were all in English, but that wasn't a problem.

We crossed the river on horseback and passed by a taro field.

参加者は我が家の他は、欧米の家族の二組でした。
説明は全部英語ですが、問題ないです。

The sunset was amazing!! The view of the sea of clouds spreading out and turning a beautiful orange was truly wonderful. I don't think you can see such a beautiful landscape anywhere else. Also, on this tour, I was moved to see the Subaru Observatory, which Japan takes pride in. After watching the sunset, we did some stargazing!! The moon was out, but it was still very beautiful, and I could see quite a few stars, so I was very satisfied. I definitely recommend everyone to join this experience.

The guide was friendly and the explanations were easy to understand. Since we had extra time, we were able to visit a beautiful local beach as well. The sunset at Mauna Kea and the starry sky were truly amazing. I don't have any climbing experience, but it was easy since we could drive to the top. They also lent us warm clothing, which made it comfortable. The lunch was very delicious. I participated alone, but the guide was considerate and took photos for me, and I was able to talk with others on the same tour, which was nice.

The meeting place was not marked by a large sign like you would find at tourist attractions, but rather a regular ranch building, which made it a bit difficult to find. However, we managed to arrive by relying on the car navigation system. After reading a very simple horseback riding guide written in Japanese, we put on our helmets and immediately mounted the horses to set off. That day, it was just the two of us and a female guide. The horses were well-trained and walked slowly along a predetermined course without us having to do much, so I didn't feel any danger at all. We enjoyed over an hour of horseback riding in a vast hilly ranch surrounded by stunning views of the sea and mountains. Along the way, we also encountered herds of cows and sheep. This is an experience that you definitely can't have in Japan, and I highly recommend it.

集合場所は、観光名所に見かける大きな案内の看板がある訳ではなく普通の牧場の建物なので、少々わかりにくいところもありましたが、カーナビを頼りにどうにか到着。日本語で書かれたごく簡単な乗馬ガイドを一読した後に、ヘルメットをかぶりすぐ馬に跨って出発。この日は我々二人と女性ガイドの3人だけでした。馬はよく訓練されていて、こちらが特に何かやらなくてもあらかじめ決められたコースをゆっくりと歩いて進んでいく感じで特に危険は感じませんでした。海と山の絶景に囲まれた広大な丘陵地の牧場をのんびりと一時間以上の乗馬。途中で牛や羊の群れとも出くわします。日本では絶対にできそうもない体験でとてもお勧めです。

I participated in the tour on October 1st. I heard that the chances of seeing the starry sky are only about 10% throughout the year, which raised my expectations quite a bit. I reached the summit of Mauna Kea without suffering from altitude sickness, but there were quite a few clouds, making me wonder if I would fall into that 10%.

The sunset at the summit was blocked by clouds, so it wasn't a particularly moving experience, but the landscape with many observatories was satisfying enough. After that, we moved to a lower area where the chances of seeing stars were higher. As we were moving, the beautiful starry sky began to appear, raising my hopes once again.

The excitement I felt when we moved to a place where we could see the stars and looked up at the sky is something I still can't forget now that I'm back home. Since childhood, I've had a hobby of stargazing (although as an adult, I hardly had time to look at the stars), and I remembered quite a few names of stars and constellations. However, the starry sky I looked up at was completely different from the skies in Japan, with the sheer number of stars and the Milky Way clearly visible.

My wife and I were very satisfied with the dazzling starry sky, where the names of stars and constellations were hard to distinguish. The guide's explanations were also wonderful, and I was impressed by how well they had studied. I was told that if I participated from May to July, I might see the Northern Cross of Cygnus and the Southern Cross, which can only be seen in the Southern Hemisphere, and I thought I would like to participate again as I headed home. Thank you for the wonderful experience of the starry sky.

１０月１日のツアーに参加しました。途中星空が見えないのは、年間１０%程度との話もあり、期待度はかなりUPしました。
高山病にかかることもなく、マウナケアの頂上に着きましたが、かなり雲が多く、１０%に入ってしまうのかと思えました。
頂上での夕日は、雲にさえぎられ、それほど感動する状況ではありませんでしたが、多くの天文台がある風景は、それなりに満足できるものでした。
その後、下の方が星が見える確率が高いということで移動しました。
移動中にきれいな星空が見え出し、ひょっとしたらと、またまた期待度UPです。
星空が見える場所に移動し、空を見上げた時の感動は、帰国した今でも忘れられません。
子供のころから、天体観測が趣味で(成人してからは、ほとんど星を見る時間もありませんでしたが)、星や星座の名前はそれなりに覚えていました。
しかし、見上げた星空は、星の数の多さ、天の川がはっきりと見えること等、日本の星空とはまったく異っていました。
星や、星座名もはっきりしないくらい、星々が光り輝く星空に、女房ともども大満足でした。
また、ガイドの方の解説もすばらしく、よく勉強されているなと感心させられました。
５月から７月ごろ参加すると、白鳥座の北十字星と、南半球しか見えない南十字星が見えるかもと言う解説もあり、また参加したいと思い帰路につきました。
星空の感動、ありがとうございました。

Both of us were a bit anxious since it was our first time riding horses, but we had a lot of fun. The horse was quite stubborn, but that added to its charm. We rode up a small stream, and the hour and a half went by in no time. They lend you a bag to keep your valuables in while in the saddle, so we were able to put our camera and water bottles in it.

小川を上って行ったりして、１時間半ほどがアッと言う間でした。

I was deeply moved by the sunset, the star-filled sky afterward, and the Milky Way. Lying on my back in the darkness, listening to the guide's easy-to-understand explanations was so pleasant that I could have listened forever. The snapshot photos taken against the starry sky, which you can't normally capture, are also a precious memory. Please note that there are no restrooms at the stargazing location, so it's best to limit your intake of fluids like coffee beforehand. I personally wanted to go to the restroom towards the end because it got cold...

夕日と、そのあとの満点の星と天の川から大きな感動をもらいました。暗闇に仰向けに寝転んで聞くガイドさんのわかりやすい解説は、いつまでも聞いていたい心地よさがありました。普通では撮影できない星空をバックにしたスナップ写真も大切な記念です。なお、星空観測地点にはトイレがないので事前にコーヒーなどの水分を控えめにしておくこと。私自身、最後のほうは寒くてトイレに行きたかったので…。

I organized my itinerary to see the Subaru Telescope and the beautiful Milky Way during this time, but at first, I was worried because it was cloudy. However, thanks to the guide's energetic power, the clouds disappeared, and I was able to enjoy a truly wonderful night sky. I was also very impressed that we could have such a fantastic bento and miso soup, along with warm drinks at the Onizuka Center and the summit. It was a fulfilling half-day, and I was able to see Saturn's rings after a long time. I'm looking forward to the photos you took. I felt the thin air at 4,000 meters, and with the guide's appropriate instructions, I was able to enjoy the experience without feeling unwell. I hope to have another opportunity.

天文台すばると美しい天の川を見たくて、この時期にエントリーできるように旅程を組みましたが、最初曇りでどうなることかと気をもみました。しかし、最後はガイドさんの元気なパワーで雲がどこかに飛んで行ってしまってとても素晴らしい夜空を堪能できました。途中のオニズカセンターと山頂で、であんな素晴らしいお弁当とお味噌汁、暖かい飲み物がいただけるなんて大感激です。土星の輪も久しぶりに見ることができてとても充実した半日でした。撮っていただいた写真も楽しみにしています。４０００ｍの空気の薄さを実感でき、ガイドさんに適切なご指導で、気分が悪くなることもなく楽しめました。また、機会があればと思います。

Last year, when I participated in a stargazing tour on Oahu, my guide told me, "If you want to see stars, Hawaii Island is the best." So this time, I joined a stargazing tour on Hawaii Island. The sky was clear, and I was able to see a wonderful starry sky. I also saw a shooting star for the first time. I was informed that it would be good to consider sunset and sunrise tours, taking into account the full moon period, so I wanted to share that as a reference.

昨年オアフ島で星空ツアーに参加した時のガイドさんから「星を見るならハワイ島が良いですよ」と教えていただき、今回ハワイ島の星空ツアーに参加しました。空は良く晴れていて素晴らしい星空を見ることができました。流れ星も初めて見られました。高山病が心配だったのですが、ガイドの松崎さんがとても面白く的確なアドバイスをしてくれたので、体調を崩すことなく最高の思い出ができました。体を慣らすためにお弁当タイムをとったのですが、味も量も満足でした。いろいろなツアー会社がありましたが私はこの会社のツアーに参加できたことに感謝しています。それはガイドさんのクオリティーの高さだと思います。お客一人一人に気配りができた気持ちの良いサービスを受けることができました。ぜひおすすめです。満月の時期を考慮してサンセットとサンライズツアーを考慮すると良いといわれましたので、参考までにお知らせします。

Last year, I participated in late August, but unfortunately, the weather was affected by a hurricane. This time, however, we were blessed with good weather. We had a great time with everyone, enjoying the sunset from 4,200 meters. After soaking in the atmosphere, we descended a bit for stargazing, and observing from the roadside was also wonderful; it had been a long time since I could see the Milky Way clearly with the naked eye. Additionally, we were able to see Saturn through a telescope, along with artificial satellites, shooting stars, and the red flames of Kilauea. I thought I could lie there forever just watching. Amidst all this excitement, the guide's explanations of the constellations were delivered promptly, which deepened the experience even more. I'm glad I participated. Thank you very much. I would like to join again in a different season next time.

昨年は，8月下旬に参加しましたがハリケーンの影響で生憎の天候でしたが今回は天候に恵まれした。4200mからのサンセットをバックに私たちも皆さんと一緒にはしゃいぎました。余韻を残しながら星空観測のために少し下り、路肩での観測はこれまたすばらしく、天の川が肉眼ではっきりと見えるなんて久しぶりのことです。また、望遠鏡で土星がみられ人工衛星、流れ星、キラウエアの赤い炎、このまま寝転んでいつまでも観ていたいおもいました。そして、この感動の中、なんといってもガイドの星座の説明がテキパキとなされ一層深まりました。参加して良かったです。ありがとうございました。次回は季節を変えて参加したいと思います。

This is an all-English tour. You don't need to have strong English skills, but it might be tough if you can't understand at least a little.

For those who are not confident in their English, a Japanese tour has recently been established, which might be better even though it's more expensive. (It seems that only local guides were allowed to conduct tours until recently, but now Japanese guides have finally been permitted.)

The tour includes a full two hours of horseback riding. You'll be riding the whole time, which can be quite tiring.

The horses are well-trained, so even someone like me with almost no riding experience felt safe.

You'll ride around the Waipi'o Valley, and it was really fun to splash through the river.

I've also ridden in Oahu, but I definitely recommend this one!!

However, there are quite a few small flies, so it might be tough for those who are not good with insects.

すべて英語のツアーです。
英語力はそれほど必要ありませんが、ある程度は理解できないときついと思います。

英語に自信のない方は日本人のツアーが最近できたので、高いですがそちらの方が良いかも。
(ずーっと現地の人しかガイドができなかったらしいのですが、やっと日本人がガイドをやることを許されたらしいです。)

ツアーは2時間たっぷり乗馬します。
ずーっと乗りっぱなしです。結構疲れます。

馬はきちんと調教されている子達なので、乗馬経験がほぼない私でも安心して乗れました。

ワイピオ渓谷の中をぐるぐると乗馬して回ります。
川の中をじゃぶじゃぶと進んでいくのがとても楽しかったです。

オアフでも乗馬したことあるのですが、断然こちらがおすすめです！！

ただ、コバエのような虫が結構いるので虫が苦手な方はきついかも。。

I had a wonderful horseback riding experience in a stunning landscape that even beginners can enjoy! The drive to the stable in the van was thrilling as we went down a steep slope. The experience of crossing the river with the car and the horse was unique and very satisfying. My horse was a bit of a troublemaker, but it made the experience even more fun. It would be even better if they took care of the smell of the rental helmets (I was prepared for it, but it was still unpleasant). Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and both my husband and I are very satisfied!

素晴らしい景色の中、初心者でも楽しめる乗馬体験が出来ました！
バンで馬小屋まで向かうドライブが、これでもか！というぐらいの坂を下り、ハラハラドキドキでした 笑
川を車や馬でジャバジャバ渡る体験は、今までなく、とても満足できました。
私の馬は、少しジャジャ馬君でしたが、かえって楽しかったです。
レンタルのヘルメットの匂いケアをしてくれれば、尚良し。（覚悟していったがやはり臭い）
総じて、素晴らしい体験ができ、夫婦共々、大満足です！

I was able to fully enjoy the dynamic sunset.
I had special photos taken using the sunset (like making the sunset shine with my fingertips, posing like Kamehameha, jumping, etc.), and I was able to download them as well.
I also enjoyed the starry sky. I was very satisfied to confirm my zodiac sign, Scorpio.
The stargazing seminar was also fantastic!

The tour started with two vans guided by Matsuzaki and Konno. The Subaru Telescope was amazing, and I felt the greatness of Japanese technology through the guide's explanations. The summit was cloudy, and we could occasionally observe stars (since we were at the mercy of nature), but the guide worked hard to find a viewpoint where the Milky Way looked like a sky full of stars. I was very satisfied!

マツザキさんとコンノさんのガイドで2台のバンでツアー開始
スバル天文台が素晴らしい、ガイドさんの説明で日本技術の素晴らしさを感じた。
山頂は曇りで、たまに星が観測（自然が相手だけに）できたが、ガイドさんが頑張って、
天の川が満点の星空に見えるビューポイントを探して、大変満足！

This was the best experience and the guides made me feel so safe with their knowledge. This was a highlight of my trip I would definitely do it again with them!

You descend to the bottom of a deep canyon and ride through the jungle on horseback. Driving down the narrow, winding, steep road feels like being on a theme park ride, but you can enjoy the beautiful canyon and black sand beach from the car window.

The horseback ride allowed us to cross rivers several times, adding to the adventurous experience. It was my first time riding a horse, but the English instructions were not difficult to understand, and the trained horses naturally formed a line and followed along. There was a guide at the front and back of the line, keeping an eye on things and ready to assist if needed, which made it easy to enjoy the experience with peace of mind.

深い渓谷の底まで降りて行き、ジャングルの中を馬で進んでいきます。
車で狭く曲がりくねった急な道を降りていくのは、遊園地のアトラクションに乗り続けているかのようですが、車窓からは美しい渓谷と黒砂海岸を楽しめます。
馬上の散策は、途中、何度か川を越えたり、アドベンチャー気分を味わうことができました。
馬に乗るのは初めてでしたが、説明の英語は難しくないですし、訓練された馬なので勝手に列を形成して付いて行ってくれる感じでした。
ガイドも列の前後に一名ずついて、様子を見て何かあればサポートしてくれるので、安心して楽しめました。
