It wasn't just comedy; we were all surprised by the guide's extensive knowledge and techniques, almost like a home appliance comedian. We were able to take many beautiful and fun photos. I was anxious about going to a mountain higher than Mount Fuji, but the attentive service from the Japanese staff made for a worry-free and enjoyable drive. At the summit, we were able to see a truly wonderful sunset, and the stargazing was even more beautiful than a planetarium. The explanations about the stars were also very enjoyable and detailed, making it a tour that left my family completely satisfied.

This is my third time participating in the Mauna Kea Nature tour, but unfortunately, the weather was not great this time. I managed to climb to the summit of Mauna Kea from the Onizuka Center, but it was snowing and hailing, and it was extremely cold, so I couldn't see the sunset. I barely caught a glimpse of the sunset through a break in the clouds, and I could see the magma of Kilauea in the distance.

Since I couldn't see the starry sky from up high, I moved down and was able to see it there.

It's disappointing that we can't choose the weather, but in a way, it was quite rare for Hawaii, and it turned out to be a valuable experience.

Above all, I enjoyed participating in the tour with the other guests, encouraging each other in a friendly atmosphere. The guide also made an effort to show us the best possible sunset and starry sky, which added to the fun memories.

Needless to say, the warm miso soup, the improved bento from last time, the winter clothing, and the free photo download service are all attractions of this tour.

If you participate in the winter, be prepared for unpredictable weather; I think it's best to join with the mindset that if you get to see something, it's a bonus. Even without a perfect sunset and stars, there is so much to gain from this wonderful tour.

マサシネイチャーでの参加は3回目ですが、今回はあいにくの天気でした。
オニヅカセンターから上のマウナケア山頂にはなんとな登れましたが雪がつもり雹がふり、極寒でサンセットは見れず。
辛うじて一瞬雲の合間から夕陽、遠くにキラウエアのマグマが。
星空も上の方ではみれなかったため下に移動してなんとか見ることができました。

天候は選べないものなので残念といえば残念ですが、ある意味でハワイではかなり稀な天候であり、それはそれで貴重な経験でした。

なにより同行した他のお客様御一行と和気あいあいと励ましあいながらツアーに参加できたこと、ガイドさんも少しでも良い星空、サンセットをみせようと努力してくださる心遣いが伝わり、それらも含め楽しい思い出になりました。

言うまでもなく、暖かいお味噌汁、前回よりおいしくなったお弁当、防寒着に写真の無料ダウンロードサービスもこのツアーの魅了です。

冬場に参加の場合、天気は荒れやすい、それを覚悟の上、見れたらラッキーくらいで参加するといいと思います。
満点のサンセットと星がみえなくても、得るものが大きい、いいツアーです。

I think this is my fifth time participating in this tour. Even those without horseback riding experience can join without any issues. You simply proceed slowly in a line through the valley, so you can participate with peace of mind. If possible, I recommend the morning tour as it allows for more time.

Wild Mustangs come close to the herd along the way. It's interesting to see how horses have their likes and dislikes. I believe first-timers will have a very satisfying experience.

While Waipi'o Valley can be viewed from above, you can get a better sense of it by going down. Recently, Japanese documents have also been prepared, so even though the guide doesn't understand Japanese, it’s not a particular problem.

このツアーへの参加は5回目になると思います。乗馬経験のない人でもまず問題なく参加できます。ゆっくりと渓谷の中を一列に進んでいくだけですので、安心して参加できます。できれば午前中のツアーの方が時間の余裕がありますので、おすすめです。

I chose this tour because regular cameras can't capture the night sky, but I was disappointed by the lack of hospitality.

During the photo shoot on the way to the summit of Mauna Kea, I asked the guide who took my picture if it turned out well, and he assured me it was fine. I felt relieved and downloaded the photos later, but they were not suitable as keepsakes. It's very unpleasant that these images are shared with other tour participants.

As for the stargazing location, we stopped on a side road on the way from the summit of Mauna Kea to the Onizuka Center for an explanation session. However, several cars passed by on their way down, kicking up dust, and since I was trying to take pictures with a DSLR, the headlights from the cars interfered, causing me to fail at capturing multiple shots. Moreover, the location wasn't open, and the mountains obstructed the view of the night sky, ruining the experience. There should be better spots for stargazing.

Even if the guide is used to the scenery every day, the tour participants are not able to visit these places multiple times. This tour requires you to confirm your reservation on the day of your arrival in Hawaii, but with this kind of service, I felt it was a waste to pay for the phone call.

星空観賞の場所。マウナケア山頂からオニヅカセンターへの途中の脇道で停車し説明会が始まりましたが、すぐ近くを下山する車が何台も通るので砂煙が巻き上がるし、私は一眼レフでの撮影に挑戦していたので、車のヘッドライドの明かりが邪魔して何枚も撮影に失敗しました。しかも山間でひらけた場所ではないので、山が邪魔で星空が隠れてしまい台無しです。観賞場所ならもっと他にもあるはずです。

ガイドさんは毎日見慣れた景色でも、ツアー参加者は何回も来れる場所ではないのです。
こちらのツアーはハワイ島到着時に当日の予約確認の依頼をされていますが、この様なサービスでは電話代を支払うのも勿体なく思いました。

We participated as a couple. It was just before a Japanese interpreter started working, but I heard they will be available here, so I think it will be fine for those who don't understand English if they request an interpreter. The participants ranged from children to adults. There were even families from the mainland U.S. participating together across three generations (from grandparents to grandchildren), so I believe people of all ages can enjoy it.

The first zip line was a bit scary because it was my first time and it was high, but after that, I had a lot of fun. I'm not very good with heights, but I managed. Due to the season, it had been rainy and chilly, making ocean activities impossible, but trying mountain activities during that time was very enjoyable.

ちょうど、日本人の通訳さんが働き始める前の体験中でした。これからこちらで働くそうなので、英語が分からない人でも通訳さんをお願いすれば大丈夫になると思います。
参加者は子供から大人までいろいろ。
アメリカ本土から親子3世代（おじいちゃん、おばあちゃんから孫まで）で、そろって参加していた方もいたので、年齢問わず楽しめると思います。
最初のジップが、初めてで慣れないうえに高さがあってちょっと怖かったですが、後は楽しめました。
私は高いところがそんなに得意ではないですが、大丈夫でした。
時期的に雨が降って肌寒い日が続いていて、海のレジャーは全然ダメだったのですが、そんなときの山のレジャーとしてやってみたら、とても楽しかったです。

It was my first time on a horse for decades and thanks to the wonderful guides and calm horses, i never felt safer. The scenery is fabulous and the guides have a huge and amazing knowledge of the valley, its inhabitants whether human or animal, as well as the plentiful edible plant life. They really made the trek perfect. Highly recommend whether a first timer or an experienced rider, you will not regret it.

First horseback riding experience 初めての乗馬体験

I wanted to go down to Waipi'o Valley and was looking for a tour. I was a bit anxious since I had never been horseback riding before, but I decided to sign up for the tour thinking there might be other Japanese participants. A tall woman came to pick me up at the meeting point as the guide, and after checking in, we headed to the stables in a large vehicle with a 4x4 and horses painted on it. However, she told me that she didn't understand Japanese. I felt uneasy but she reassured me that she could say "danger!" so I should listen carefully. The horseback riding instructions were given in English and gestures, and there were Japanese warning signs and simple explanations posted. Even if you don't understand English, the horses are well-trained, so it's manageable, but if you want to understand the guide's explanations along the way, I think an intermediate level of English is necessary. The horses lined up on their own and walked easily, and the reins only required simple movements. We progressed through the river, crossed it, and even strayed off the path to eat grass, but the smart horses quickly returned to the line. We were able to slowly enjoy the taro fields and waterfalls at the bottom of the valley, and the hour and a half passed in no time. If it's a morning tour, you can head out in the afternoon, which is enjoyable. We were blessed with good weather, and I'm glad I participated. I didn't have time to take photos, but the guide took some for us along the way. I would love to participate again!

ワイピオ渓谷の下まで行ってみたくて、ツアーを探していました。乗馬もしたことがなかったので不安でしたが、日本人で参加している方がいるのならと思いツアーを申し込みました。背の高い女性がガイドで集合場所まで迎えに来てくれて、チェックイン後に4×4と馬が描かれた大きな車で厩舎まで向かいましたが、そのときに日本語は分からないからと言われました。不安になりましたが「あぶない！」だけは言えるから、よく聞いてねと。乗馬の説明は英語とジェスチャーで、日本語の注意書きや簡単な説明文は貼り出されていました。英語が分からなくても馬がよく調教されているので大丈夫ですが、ガイドさんの途中での説明も聞き取りたいのであれば中級以上の英語力が必要かとおもいます。馬は一列に勝手に並んでくれて、歩いてくれますし手綱も簡単な動きだけでした。川の中をどんどん進んだり、川を渡ったり、草を食べに道から外れたこともありましたが、すぐに列に戻ってくれる賢い馬たちでした。渓谷の下のタロイモの畑や滝もゆっくり観られて、1時間半はあっというまに過ぎました。午前のツアーであれば、午後から出かけられるので楽しめますね。天気にも恵まれ、参加してよかったです。写真を写す余裕がなかったのですが、途中でガイドさんが写してくれました。また、参加したいです！

While waiting for the pickup in the hotel lobby, I heard the disappointing news that due to strong winds, we couldn't go to the summit and it was uncertain if we could find a place to see the starry sky. Since we could get a full refund if we canceled now and it was possible to change the tour, we decided as a family to switch to a full island tour the next day. Then, the next morning, it was pouring rain! It really rained a lot. As we waited with low spirits, our guide Matsuzaki arrived with incredibly high energy! I thought the island would only have lava, but it turned out to be a lush green island. Waipi'o Valley was breathtaking, and Akaka Falls was impressive, but the highlight was definitely the Kilauea volcano's crater! It was lucky to see the bright red lava rising so high. The lava dome tunnel provided an adventurous experience, and even though it rained the whole time, they provided a large umbrella and towels, making sure we stayed as dry as possible. We were able to take many photos and truly enjoyed the wonderful aspects of the Big Island. Everyone in the family was very satisfied with the tour. We even saw sea turtles, and we wrapped up the day with a beautiful rainbow and sunset. Thank you, Matsuzaki, for your hard work during the long drive!

写真もたくさん撮れましたし、ハワイ島の良いところがたくさん味わえた家族全員大満足なツアーでした。ウミガメにも会えたし、最後はきれいな虹と夕日で締めくくり。マツザキさん、長時間のドライブ本当にお疲れ様でした。そしてありがとうございました！

I participated with two friends for the first time on the Big Island. Although it was November, which is said to be the rainy season, we were blessed with beautiful weather, clear skies, and no wind. The sunset sinking into the sea of clouds was truly magnificent, making us forget the cold as we were captivated by it.

I had used Masashi Nature School before, and I could tell that the guide's explanations were very clear and that they had studied a lot about Hawaii and volcanoes. The bento box was, of course, delicious, but I especially appreciated the hot miso soup served in the cold; it was a thoughtful touch.

However, it was a day close to the supermoon, so the sky was bright, and the stars weren't as clearly visible, which was a bit disappointing and left me not completely satisfied. Next time, I will aim for a new moon.

雨季と言われる11月ですがお天気に恵まれ快晴で風もなく雲海に沈む夕陽はそれはそれは素晴らしく寒さを忘れて見入ってしまうほどでした。
マサシネイチャースクールは以前にも利用させてもらいましたがガイドの方の説明がとてもわかりやすくハワイの事、火山の事をよく勉強されているのがよくわかりました。
幕の内のお弁当ももちろん美味しかったのですが
寒い所で出して頂いた熱いお味噌汁は有り難く心遣いを感じました。
ただスーパームーンが近い日だったので空が明るくて星がくっきりきれいに見えなかったのが残念で大満足にはなりませんでした。
次回は新月の時を狙います。

I participated in this for my honeymoon! The reviews were very good, so my expectations were quite high, but it easily exceeded them. The guide was always sharing various information and was very kind throughout the tour! They also provided warm clothing, so I was able to enjoy the sunset at the cold mountaintop, and the stargazing along the way was fantastic, with clear explanations that were interesting and enjoyable. It was my first time riding a horse, and I was quite nervous since I'm not very good at English! However, they communicated important words like right, left, pull, and kick in Japanese, so I was able to manage some communication.

Taking a leisurely walk on horseback through the refreshing valley became a wonderful memory!

Pros: Our guide was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot. You go from sea level to about 13,800 feet, so remember to drink water. The views at 13,803 feet were beautiful. The observatories are interesting to see (from the outside). You observe stars with an 11" telescope at the visiter center parking lot. The guide points out stars/planets that everyone gets a chance to see. They give you jackets with gloves available.

Cons: It is a bumpy ride and some of the road is dirt. The "hot" meal was more of a box lunch. Bathroom breaks are limited. You do climb to 14,000', be prepared for the climate and altitude change. I was under the impression we could see more of the observatories, you only see them from the outside and are not allowed in.

The view from the ground was a breathtaking sight unlike anything I had ever seen before. The sunset from the summit of Mauna Kea was like something you would see from an airplane, with the sun sinking into a sea of clouds. It was grand and stunningly beautiful!

At 4,200 meters, the summit is higher than Mount Fuji, and I was very worried about altitude sickness. However, the tour operator's careful consideration ensured that I was safe. I could feel my body acclimating during a dinner break at the Onizuka Visitor Center, which is at an elevation of 2,800 meters. We were well-prepared for the cold. Everyone borrowed orange ski wear, and it made for quite a striking photo. Regular visitors can only drive to the Onizuka Center, and it seems that only a few tour companies can take you to the summit from there.

After the sunset, it was finally time for stargazing! With high expectations, we descended 200 meters and looked up at the night sky from a 4,000-meter point... but the moonlight was a bit of a hindrance, and I thought, "Is this it?" The moon was quite bright, being slightly fuller than a first quarter moon.

Even so, the sky was filled with countless stars, with Venus, Saturn, Mars, and Polaris shining brightly, and we could see the Milky Way. The constellation explanations were quite detailed, making it clear why this is a nature school, and it was genuinely interesting. I was told that if I wanted to see only the stars in complete darkness, I should come back on a new moon day, and I understood why many people return for a "revenge" trip.

What was wonderful about Masashi Nature School was their concern for the participants' health, the delicious bento and miso soup, the thoughtful service of warm coffee, tea, and cookies during our cold and tiring breaks, and their photography skills, along with the service of allowing us to download the photos later... perhaps I'm praising them too much?

In any case, it was a thoroughly satisfying tour!

地上からは今までに見た事のない絶景でした。マウナケアの山頂からのサンセットは飛行機から見る様なもので、雲海に日が沈んでいくのです。壮大で息をのむような美しさでした！
4200mの山頂は富士山よりも高く私は高山病がとても心配でした。でも、催行者さんのしっかりとした配慮があり無事でした。標高2800mのオニズカビジターセンターで夕食を兼ねた休息で体が慣れていくのがわかりました。寒さ対策も万全でした。全員オレンジ色のスキーウェアを借りて写真を撮るとちょっと迫力がありました。一般の人がレンタカーで行けるのはこのオニズカセンター迄でここから先の山頂迄は数社のツアー会社しか行けないそうです。
サンセットの後はいよいよ満天の星空観測！と、期待満々で200m下山、4000mのポイントで夜空を見
上げてみると‥‥月明かりが邪魔をしてえっ？こんなモノ？くらいの星だったのです。この日は上弦の月よりも少し膨らんだ月で相当明るい月明かりでした。
それでも空には数えきれない星で金星、土星、火星、北極星は凄く明るく光っていて、天の川も見えました。星座はかなり詳しい解説でネイチャースクールの所以はこれかと言う程本格的で面白かったですね。真っ暗闇で星だけを見たかったら新月の日にリベンジして下さいと言われ納得しました。現にリベンジのリピーターは多いそうです。
マサシネイチャースクールさんの素晴らしかった所は、先ず参加者の体調を気にかけてくれた点、お弁当やお味噌汁がかなり美味しかった点、寒くて疲れた休息に温かいコーヒーや紅茶、クッキーを出してくれる心憎いサービス、そして写真を撮る技術、後で写真をダウンロードさせて貰えるサービス‥‥などなど褒めすぎかな?

とにかく大満足のツアーでした！

It was a great decision to join the tour since it's a place we couldn't have accessed on our own. The thrill before horseback riding was fantastic! The horses were well-trained, which made me feel secure. However, the course was a bit monotonous, and I got bored halfway through. I wished we could have gone to a spot with a better view.

It was really great to join a tour to reach the summit of Mauna Kea, as it's difficult to go there on your own. The sunset from the summit was a truly magical sight. As for stargazing, instead of the usual observation from the Onizuka Visitor Center, they took us to the best spot of the day and provided explanations in Japanese, making it very enjoyable and easy to understand.

マウナケア山頂へは個人では行きにくいので、ツアーに参加して本当に良かったです。
山頂からのサンセットはとても幻想的に光景でした。

The sunset was amazing!! The view of the sea of clouds spreading out and turning a beautiful orange was truly wonderful. I don't think you can see such a beautiful landscape anywhere else. Also, on this tour, I was moved to see the Subaru Observatory, which Japan takes pride in. After watching the sunset, we did some stargazing!! The moon was out, but it was still very beautiful, and I could see quite a few stars, so I was very satisfied. I definitely recommend everyone to join this experience.

The guide was friendly and the explanations were easy to understand. Since we had extra time, we were able to visit a beautiful local beach as well. The sunset at Mauna Kea and the starry sky were truly amazing. I don't have any climbing experience, but it was easy since we could drive to the top. They also lent us warm clothing, which made it comfortable. The lunch was very delicious. I participated alone, but the guide was considerate and took photos for me, and I was able to talk with others on the same tour, which was nice.

綺麗なビーチに追加で回ってもらえた。
マウナケアの夕日、星空の素晴らしさは言うまでもないです。
