My friend and I went on the stargazing and sunrise tour to the Summit of Mauna Kea yesterday. Todd was our tour guide and extremely personable. He was also a wealth of knowledge on constellations, and local landscape. The stargazing was outstanding, we saw satellites, shooting stars, and a ton of constellations not visible usually at home. The summit was breathtaking, watching the sun come up we could see the whole island and Maui from up there. It was like being on top of the world. I definitely recommend it!

If you're going to the Big Island, I highly recommend it! You can see the best sunset and, surprisingly, a lot of stars. The explanations about the mountains and constellations along the way were very easy to understand, and the attention to guests was excellent! While the weather can be a factor, I hope you get to experience the view from above the clouds.

最高の夕日を見る事が出来て、また想像以上にたくさんの星を見る事ができた。
行く間の山々の説明や星座の説明などとても分かりやすいく、ゲストへの心配りもとても良かった！
天候もあるかと思うが、雲の上から見る景色をぜひ体験してほしいです。

We participated as a family. Including my 8-year-old son, it was the first time for everyone except my wife to go horseback riding, and we were a bit anxious, but we were able to enjoy it thanks to the friendly guide who spoke simple English. I would like to join this tour again when we visit the Big Island. As the title suggests, we drove up a steep slope to the riding area and crossed a stream. This was also enjoyable, so you can have double the fun in one experience.

家族で参加しました。8才の息子含め、妻以外初めての乗馬で不安がありましたが、フレンドリーなガイドさんによる、シンプルな英語で楽しむことができました。また、ハワイ島に行った時には参加したいツアーです。タイトルのとおり、乗馬場までも車で急勾配の坂を行き、小川も渡ります。これも楽しめるので、一度で二度楽しめます。

I rated this tour one star, but there were no issues with the content of the tour or the guide's response. However, it seems we fell into the 10% of the 90% clear skies on our observation day, as we could only see a faint sunset and just three stars in the night sky (three stars...). Therefore, my satisfaction level for the sunset and stargazing tour was zero. There's nothing we can do about the weather. Since we participated on the fourth day after the hurricane passed, the road from the Onizuka Visitor Center to the summit was reportedly closed due to landslides. The guide kindly explained this at pickup, and at that point, we could cancel for a full refund. We decided to participate, and by the time we arrived at the Onizuka Visitor Center, the road to the summit had reopened. However, it seems some people canceled on the day. Our guide, Matsuzaki, did his best to keep the spirits up despite only seeing a little bit of the sun at the summit, and he took many photos for us. During the stargazing, he diligently searched for a spot without clouds and explained the stars to the participants, who were feeling quite down since we couldn't see any stars at all (laughs). In the car on the way back, everyone had a somber atmosphere, and I think the guide felt quite uncomfortable. However, I believe the content was wonderful. If I ever come back to the Big Island, I would like to participate with this company again.

評価を★一つにしてしまいましたが、ツアーの内容もガイドの方の対応も全く問題はありません。ただし私たちの観測日は晴天率90％の中で10%にあたってしまったらしく、サンセットもわずかな光しか見えず、星空にいたっては目視できた星は3つだったため（３つって・・・）、サンセット＆星空観測のためのツアーとしては満足度ゼロとなりました。天候ばかりは仕方がありません。ハリケーン通過後、4日目の参加だったのでオニヅカビジターセンターから山頂への道が土砂崩れ等で、お迎え時の情報では閉鎖されていました。お迎え時、ガイドの方がそのことを丁寧に説明してくれ、この時点でキャンセルしても100%返金されます。私たちは参加し、結果的にオニヅカビジターセンター到着時に閉鎖していた山頂への道も解除となりましたが、当日キャンセルをされた方もいるようでした。ガイドの松崎さんは山頂でもわずかな太陽しか見えない中、一生懸命盛り上げてくれ、たくさんの写真も撮ってくださいました。星空観測でも雲がない場所を懸命に探してくれ、テンションだだ下がりの参加者達に星が全く見えない中、懸命に星空の説明をしていただきました（笑）。帰りの車の中では参加者一様、葬式みたいな雰囲気でガイドの方もいたたまれなかったと思いますが、内容としては素晴らしいと思います。またいつかハワイ島に来ることがありましたら、こちらの会社で参加したいと思いました。

We participated as a family of four with our 8-year-old and 10-year-old sons. I was a bit worried about whether it would be okay for my 8-year-old, but they lent us helmets, and the cowgirl explained how to handle the horses clearly and slowly. Perhaps because it was after a typhoon, the wind was strong, but we enjoyed the vast ranch spreading out in all directions, the beautiful coastline, and many sheep and cows, fully experiencing nature. There were cowgirls at the front and back who kept a close eye on the children, and they helped us choose friendly horses for my husband and kids, making it feel like they were always by our side. This is truly amazing; it's an experience that is unimaginable in Japan. We thoroughly enjoyed the two-hour course.

8歳、10歳の息子達と家族4人で参加しました。8歳で本当に大丈夫かとやや不安もありましたが、ヘルメットも貸してくださり、カウガールのお姉さんがはっきりゆっくり馬の扱い方をを説明してくれました。台風の後だったせいか風は強かったですが、360度一面に広がる牧場と、美しい海岸線と沢山の羊に牛に、大自然を満喫。先頭と後方にカウガールがついてくれてしっかり子供を見てくれたし、馬も主人と子供とで仲の良い馬を選んでくれていつもそばにいるような感じでした。
これは本当にすごいです、日本では到底考えられない体験です。2時間コースで満喫しました。

The weather was perfect, and I was able to fully enjoy both the sunset and the starry sky. But what I appreciated the most was the attentive guidance and explanations from the guides. Especially when we were heading to the summit of Mauna Kea, they repeatedly encouraged us to take deep breaths. Other companies may offer similar tours, but this tour is definitely the one to choose!

天候に恵まれ日の入りも星空も満喫できました。
でも何よりも有難かったのは、ガイドの方々の細やかなお声がけや解説でした。特にマウナケア山頂に向かう際、深呼吸を繰り返すよう何度も声をかけてくれました。
同様のツアーは他社も実施しているのでしょうが、このツアーは間違いないです！

Due to the impact of the typhoon, we couldn't proceed to Onitsuka. The weather was also unstable, and we couldn't see the stars. The guide was very kind and the service was excellent. Since we couldn't see the stars, we received a free ticket for participation within two years. I plan to make a comeback.

タイフーンの影響で、オニツカの上には進めませんでした。天候も不安定で、星も見れませんでした。ガイドさんは、とても親切で対応も◎でした。星が見えなかったので、2年以内の参加無料券をもらいました。リベンジしようと思います。

I had heard that only English was spoken, so I was worried, but they spoke slowly and kindly, and there were no problems. It was reassuring to have two guides for just our family of four. My children are also thinking that they want to sign up again next time. Thank you for a very valuable experience.

英語しか通じないと聞いていたので、心配だったのですが、ゆっくり優しく話してくれて問題ありませんでした。家族四人だけの参加に二人もガイドが付いてくれて、安心でした。次回もまた、こちらに申し込みたいと、子供たちも思っています。とても貴重な体験を有難うございました。

I was moved by both the sunset and the starry sky. I took many wonderful photos and showed them to people around me after returning home. It became a great memory for my family. I also want to thank our guide, Shin. He had a friendly conversation with my daughter, who initially wasn't very enthusiastic, but she seemed to enjoy herself. The miso soup we received was warm and comforting. I thought it might be expensive when I signed up, but it was definitely worth it. Thank you very much.

This time, during our two-week stay, the only tour was this stargazing! I was really looking forward to it, but unfortunately, the sky was cloudy and the moon was out. We could see the large moon, but the stars we were hoping to see were much better viewed back in Japan. It was disappointing.

If you have flexibility in your schedule, it's better to consider the moon phase and the time the moon rises when making a reservation. We didn't think about it at all.

I'm really disappointed. However, we were able to see a beautiful sunset.

今回、2週間の滞在で、ツアーはこの星空観測のみ！
これだけは、と期待していたのですが、あいにく、曇り空、月も出ている。大きな月のカサは見えましたが、お目当ての星は、普通に日本で見た方が、ずっと良く見えました。残念でした。
日程に余裕があるなら、月齢、月の出る時間等も考えて、予約をした方が良いです。
私達は、全然考えていませんでした。
がっかりです。
但し、夕焼けは、キレイに見れました。

This August, I participated in the Mauna Kea Summit Sunset & Stargazing Tour. Unfortunately, we couldn't see the stars from the summit due to the weather, but we did catch glimpses of the sunset peeking through the clouds, which was quite dramatic! Also, our guide, J IN, really wanted to show us the stars and took us to various spots to try and catch a view! The stories during our travels were enjoyable, and I had a great time! I definitely want to participate again!

今年、８月にマウナケア山頂サンセット&星空観測ツアーに参加しました。残念ながら山頂からの星空は天候の関係で見れなかったけれど、時々雲の合間から夕陽が少し見えて結構ドラマチックでした！また、ガイドのJ INさんはツアー参加者になんとか星空を見せてあげたいと色々と場所を変えて見せてくれました！移動中のお話も楽しくとっても楽しかったです！またぜひ参加してみたいです！

I participated with my high school daughter and husband. This was our third time riding, following the Grand Canyon and Parker Ranch on the Big Island, and we are still beginners. Before we rode, they explained how to ride and safety precautions very slowly and clearly in English. During the ride, they also talked about the ranch and the Big Island, engaging us in conversation, and they guided us in a very friendly and safe manner. We could see the coastline of Kona from the ranch, and the view was outstanding. They kept our valuables in a safe, which was really helpful.

高校生の娘と主人と3人で参加しました。乗馬はグランドキャニオンとハワイ島のパーカーランチに続き3回目の初心者です。乗る前に乗馬の仕方や注意事項をとてもゆっくりと分かりやすく英語で説明してくれましたし、乗っている間も牧場やハワイ島の説明をしてくれたり、いろいろ話しかけてくれて、とてもフレンドリーかつ安全に誘導してくれました。牧場からコナの海岸線も見えて景色も抜群でした。貴重品は金庫に預かってくれ、助かりました。

On the way to the destination, it rained and there were many clouds, making it impossible to see the sky, which was quite nerve-wracking as we headed to the summit. Although there were many clouds, the sunset peeking through them and the evening glow that turned the clouds red was wonderful.
I don't have any photos, but the starry sky was also amazing. I may have realized for the first time just how many stars there are.
Our guide, Macchan, was also very enjoyable and made the experience memorable. He was the person who left the biggest impression on me during this trip.

現地に向かう途中は雨が降ったり，雲が多くまったく空が見えなかったり，ハラハラドキドキで山頂に向かいました。雲は多かったものの雲間からのサンセットと雲を赤く染めた夕焼けが素晴らしかったです。
写真はありませんが，星空も最高でした。こんなにたくさん星があることを初めて知ったかもしれません。
ガイドのまっちゃんもとても楽しいガイドをしていただきました。今回の旅行で一番印象に残った人でした。

The sunset and the starry sky were very beautiful, and the tour was enjoyable with easy-to-understand explanations of the constellations.

I received various precautions to avoid altitude sickness, but I think it would have been helpful to add what symptoms to watch out for.

I'm sorry for the late review. My child wanted to see the stars on the Big Island, so we booked this tour. Since I had previously climbed Haleakalā on Maui, I didn't worry too much about altitude sickness. The guide took photos for us and shared fun stories during the drive, making the time fly by. The moonlight made it a bit difficult to see the stars (though it was still much better than back home), so next time we visit, I'll check the lunar calendar and will definitely book this tour again.

遅い体験談ですみません。子供がハワイ島で星を見たいと言っていたのでこちらのツアーを申し込みました。以前マウイ島のハレアカラに登ったことがあるので高山病の心配はそれほどしないで済みました。ガイドさんが写真を撮ってくれたり車中も楽しい話をしてくれてあっという間でした。月明りで星が見えづらかったので（地元よりはそれでも全然見えます）次に訪問する際は月暦も見てまたこちらにお世話になります。

On the way to the summit, we gradually acclimatized to prevent altitude sickness, but when we reached the top, a few people seemed to be suffering from it. It seems that if you sit and watch the sunset without forcing yourself to move, you'll be okay. We observed the starry sky from a point much lower than the summit, where the symptoms of altitude sickness had subsided, and we were able to enjoy stargazing. It was the best tour, as we got to see a starry sky that we usually can't see.

山頂に向かう途中で高山病対策で少しずつ体を慣らしていくのですが、山頂につくと数人高山病にかかり辛そうでした。無理に動かず座ってサンセットを見ていれば何とかなるようです。星空観測は山頂からだいぶ降りた所で観測したのでそこでは高山病の症状は治まっており楽しく星空観測出来ました。
普段見れない星空を見ることが出来最高のツアーでした

The sunset from the 4200m summit was wonderful. I was thrilled to see the observatory with the Subaru Telescope. The stargazing from 3500m was also great. I was worried about altitude sickness, but I was able to enjoy it without any issues. I am grateful to our guide, Jin.

4200mの山頂からの夕日は素晴らしかったです。スバル望遠鏡のある天文台が見られ感激しました。3500mからの星の観賞も良かった。高山病を心配していましたが、そのようなこともなく楽しめました。ガイドの仁さんに感謝します。

The instructor provided a clear and polite explanation in easy-to-understand English. It was a relaxing and enjoyable tour where we saw wild goats and domesticated Wagyu cattle, and we also learned about the volcanoes and terrain of the Big Island of Hawaii. The horses also seemed well-trained.

わかりやすい英語で丁寧な説明をしてくださるインストラクターさんが案内してくださいました。野生のヤギ豚、牧場で飼育されている和牛をみたり、ハワイ島の火山や地形の話もきけてリラックスできて楽しいツアーです。馬たちもよく訓練されている印象でした。

My 7 year old was a bit worried. He's definitely afraid of heights and it took a bit of convincing to get him to even agree to try. Standing on a 65 foot platform ready to zip while dangling 150+ feet over a waterfall and rock river was a bit daunting but once we started there was no turning back. He wanted to do the course again but it was time to head back to Kona. The rest of us all had a blast as well (a 13 year old and 2 old fuddy-duddy parents :-)

The guides know how to have fun and make sure everyone is being safe. They were all really great.

And if you are driving from Kona take a few extra minutes to stop on the way. There are some amazing sights along the way that are very picture worthy.

The day I participated was my 53rd birthday. The weather was perfect, and the starry sky exceeded my expectations. Tyra, the navigator from Masashi Nature School, was amazing and made it a wonderful birthday. Tyra was born in Okinawa and lived in Kanagawa until the second year of high school, so her Japanese is perfect. She made our conversations enjoyable with jokes and shared a wealth of interesting facts, which was very educational. Her explanations of the starry sky added a unique touch, and the trivia related to stars and constellations was incredibly fascinating, making me say "Wow!" repeatedly. I definitely want to join Tyra's tour again.

参加した日は私の53回目の誕生日でした。天気に恵まれ想像以上の満点の星空、マサシネイチャースクールのナビゲーターのタイラさんも最高で素晴らしい誕生日になりました。
タイラさんは沖縄生まれその後神奈川県で高2まで日本に居たそうで、日本語は完璧、冗談交えて会話が楽しく、うんちくの引出しも多く大変勉強になりました。星空の解説も通常の説明に一味付け加え、星、星座にちなんだうんちくも大変面白く「へぇー」の連発でした。是非またタイラさんのツアーに参加したいです。

Probably the most beautiful Milky Way in the Northern Hemisphere! The density is incredibly rich and beautiful. Satellites and shooting stars look really big. The borrowed winter clothing is warm enough and comfortable. Since restaurants close after 10 PM on the way back, let's prepare some late-night snacks at the hotel.

おそらく北半球で最も美しい天の川！濃度が実に濃く美しい。衛星や流れ星もすごく大きく見えます。貸してもらえる防寒着で十分暖かく快適です。帰りが10時過ぎて食事の店はしまってしまうのでホテルに夜食を準備しておきましょう

I chose this tour because it focuses on stargazing and photography at a relatively high altitude (I actually had discount coupons for other tours and was quite torn about my choice). In the end, it was extremely good! My family participated, and we were able to capture my son's best shots as well as some great photos of the volcano, which left us all thrilled.

While the weather is a matter of luck, I could feel the professionalism and teamwork of the company. Next time, I would like to use this service for a sunrise tour. Thank you very much!

類似のツアーのうち、比較的高い高度での星空観察や写真撮影のことがポイントでこちらを選びました(実は他のツアーの割り引き券もあり、かなり迷ったのですが・・)。結果、非常に良かったです！家族で参加させていただきましたが、息子のベストショット撮影やちょうど火山の様子もわかる写真も手元に残り、皆で感激しました。
天候に恵まれたことは運任せになりますが、会社としての連携プレーなどプロの仕事ぶりを感じることができました。

The weather was very nice, and I was able to see the sunset, the Milky Way, the moon, and almost everything across the entire Big Island! I really appreciated the guide's explanations and support for taking photos. Next time I go to the Big Island, I want to see the sunrise with this tour company. Thank you!

I participated in a tour to observe the starry sky at Mauna Kea, hoping for a sky full of stars during the new moon. The weather was clear at the summit of Mauna Kea, and I was excited for what promised to be a wonderful night of stargazing. However, around sunset, clouds suddenly spread across the sky, and the sunset only peeked through the gaps in the clouds. Despite this, I was very lucky to see the rare phenomenon of sun pillars. After that, it started to rain, and the stars seemed to vanish. The guides, Shin and Big Jin, began searching for a stargazing spot. When we had descended quite a bit, they explained, "Let's wait for another five minutes, and if the clouds don't clear, we'll head back." Just as everyone was starting to give up, the clouds suddenly parted, and although it was brief, we were able to see the Milky Way. We may not be able to conquer the weather, but thanks to the guides' efforts, we were able to enjoy the starry sky. Thank you very much.

マウナケアでの星空観測、新月での満天の星空を期待してツアーに参加しました。マウナケアの頂上までは晴天で、今日はすばらしい星空観測日和と期待にわくわくしました。ところが、日没のころには急に雲が広がってしまい、夕日は雲のすきまからしか顔を見せてくれませんでした。そんな中ですが、太陽柱という珍しい景色を見ることができ、とてもラッキーでした。その後は、雨が降ってきて星空はどこへやら。ガイドのシンさん・ビッグジンさんによる星空観測場所探しが始まりました。かなり標高を下ったところで、「もう5分待って雲が切れなかったら帰りましょう。」と説明があり、みんなが諦めかけていたところに、突然雲が切れ、短時間ではありましたが、天の川まで見ることができました。天候に勝つことはできませんが、ガイドさんの努力により無事に星空を見ることができました。ありがとうございました。

Horseback riding was amazing. The scenery was also fantastic, and it was truly great.

However, both the Wi-Fi router and my phone lost signal, and I panicked because I couldn't load Google Maps to find the meeting point...

It's better to download it in advance.

Also, my daughter, even though she was wearing long pants, seemed to have been bitten by a tick or something, and she bled and swelled badly...

I recommend wearing sturdy jeans or something similar.

乗馬は最高でした。
景色も最高で本当に良かった。

でも、Wi-Fiルーターも携帯も圏外になり待ち合わせ場所まで、
Google MAPが読み込めず焦った。。。。

事前にダウンロードしておいた方が良い。

それと娘が長ズボンなのにヒルか何かに吸われたようで、
酷く出血、腫れました。。。

しっかりとしたジーンズなどがおすすめ。

Since it was my first time on the Big Island, my husband and I decided to participate in the Mauna Kea sunset and stargazing tour! I was worried about altitude sickness since I had never climbed a high mountain before, but it was not a problem at all. The weather was fantastic that day, and both the sunset and stargazing from near the observatory were truly amazing, creating memories for a lifetime. If you're going to the Big Island, I highly recommend this tour.

初めてのハワイ島だったので、ぜひマウナケアのサンセットと星空観測に行きたいと思い夫婦二人で参加しました！
高い山には登ったことがないので、高山病を心配していたのですが、まったく問題ありませんでした。
当日はとても天気が良かったので、天文台付近から見たサンセットも星空観察も本当に素晴らしく、一生の思い出になりました。
ハワイ島に行くなら、このツアーをおすすめします。

We participated as a family of four. There were also two couples, making a total of eight people. I think we were on the horses for just under two hours.

Everything was in English, but the staff was very friendly and explained the history of Waipi'o Valley in a way that was easy to understand.

The weather was nice, and riding horses in nature was very relaxing.

While the service wasn't overly luxurious, they took family photos from various angles, and even when there were delays or the line got mixed up, we were guided smoothly without feeling rushed, allowing us to enjoy the scenery with peace of mind.

The kids were very satisfied, so we would like to participate again.

The cat in the stable was cute.

馬に乗っていたのは二時間弱だと思います。

全て英語でしたが、とてもフレンドリーなスタッフでワイピオ渓谷の歴史などもとても分かりやすく説明してくれました。

天気が良かった事もあり、自然の中をのんびりと馬に乗りながらとても癒されました。

至れり尽くせりのサービスではありませんが、家族での写真も色々な角度で撮ってくれましたし、列が乱れたり、遅れたりしても急かされる事なく、上手く誘導してもらえたので、安心して風景を楽しめました。

子供達も大満足だったので、また参加したいと思います。

馬小屋にいた猫が可愛かった。

We were lucky as the weather was cool and cloudy, but did not rain. Our guides were terrific. We had our "safety" talks and felt very comfortable with the safety harness and double clips used. Our party had ziplined before in Colorado and Costa Rica, so we had comparisons. Our guides were entertaining, knowledgeable and very patient. We did see wildlife - a hawk and of course, the mongoose. We did not want it to end.

Very few places could match this experience. The location; the slow climb up the giant sloping mountain. We went through rain, sun, even through a cloud; through the lava landscape, ranch lands and very bumpy rocky last stretch of road to reach the top! And wow it was a view from the top.
Be warned; it is very very cold; not what you expect from your Hawaiian break! You get nice warm coats from the tour group though (and later a little hot cocoa and brownie to keep you going!)
As the sun sets; you can see the mountains shadow on the other side; a glimpse of Maui and the glint of the sun off the telescopes preparing for their nights work. You can see the odd bit of movement as they open up. As soon as the suns down; its all go though. We have to leave the area quickly as the lights from the cars interfere with the telescopes (so no, there is no looking around inside them; if that is what you're hoping for in this trip!).
We move down slope a little to a good spot to see the huge expanse of clear, cloudless sky and the abundance of stars.
It is slightly interrupted with the brightness of the moon (so depending how long your stay is in Hawaii, plan for a darker night, unless you love the moon!); but not enough to stop us seeing nebula, planets and stars - its a really interesting spot to see both the northern and southern skies.
We did also spot a bit of the glow from the erupting volcano

The sunset at the summit was amazing!!
And for stargazing, I was able to see the moon, Mars, and Kilauea Volcano all at the same time!!
It was a full moon, so it was a shame I couldn't see the Milky Way... but I was able to see many constellations, so it's all good~
