The tour was very interesting and Arthur our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the region. He answered all of our questions about the local environment as well as the history of the Hawaiian people.

It was cold at the summit and a sweatshirt should be worn if you cannot handle the cold even with the atlantic parka and gloves that is supplied.

The stargazing spot was incredibly clear and we could see hundreds of stars. We were also able to spot Venus, Jupiter, and several star systems through the telescopes provided.

I went with my 10-year-old child, and we had a great time without any issues. There were two cheerful female guides who explained everything while we leisurely walked through the mountains for a full hour and a half. The dog at the reception leading the way was also very cute. It rained quite a bit along the way, but that felt nice in its own way. My experienced mother mentioned that she wanted to run at times, but she seemed very satisfied overall. Speaking a little English was not a problem at all.

The first thing the hotel staff said upon our arrival was, "It was snowing in the morning, and the summit was closed. It's open now, but we don't know when it might close again." We set off with a bit of a resigned attitude. Normally in April, there's an 80% chance of reaching the summit, but this year, there's an 80% chance of not being able to. They mentioned that for the past few days, no one had been able to reach the summit. When we arrived at the Onizuka Visitor Center, it was raining quite a bit, and we were fully in a resigned mode. After a while, the rain stopped, so we decided to eat our lunch outside. Then, gradually, it started to brighten up, and we were able to climb Mauna Kea! Although we couldn't see the bright red sunset like in the pictures, we were grateful to have made it to the summit.

For stargazing, they helped us find a good spot to see the stars. The explanations about the stars were easy to understand. We even saw shooting stars. What was unexpectedly delightful was that during the stargazing session, we were served cookies and tea, and the cookies were Mrs. Barry's cookies, which I had wanted to try! Thank you to our guides, Jin and Konno! It was a very satisfying tour.

The summit of Mauna Kea is cold. They lend you upper and lower wear, so I brought my own lightweight down jacket, high socks, and gloves that allow me to use my smartphone. They also lend gloves, but they are thick, making it inconvenient to operate the camera.

　マウナケアの山頂は、寒いです。上下のウェアを貸してくれるので、自分で薄手のダウンとハイソックスの靴下とスマホができる手袋を持っていきました。手袋も貸してもらえますが、分厚いのでカメラの操作をするには不自由です。

Hawaii Zipline Tours - Big Island Waterfall & Rainforest Zip Adventure

Overall, very satisfied with the value of this trip. I have ziplined in Mexico and in Belize City, and this trip was very comparable in terms of value, excitement, and thrill.

The Hawaii zipline consisted of 7 lines, the first few were relatively short. Although short, breathtaking views. The last three were much longer, more scenic, and best of all, amazing view of a BEAUTIFUL waterfall! The day I went was very gloomy and did have some slight visibility issues due to fog, but the experience was amazing.

This was more expensive than my foreign ziplines, but as I mentioned, it was a great value for the experience relative to the other ziplines I have done.

Thinking back on what I could have paid for other Big Island adventures, no regrets on this trip and would ABSOLUTELY do this one again.

Lastly, the staff were great! Very expeditious, always safety first, and very friendly.

The weather that week was generally bad, and I heard that the view the day before we participated wasn't great either, which made me anxious. In late March, my family of four participated in the Mauna Kea Summit Sunset & Stargazing Tour. The 13-seater bus was fully booked with Japanese tourists. The ride to the Onizuka Visitor Center was smooth along the paved road. At the visitor center, we had a bento box and miso soup, put on our warm clothing, and then ascended the unpaved road all the way up to 4,200 meters. The summit was very cold, and the wind exceeded 20 meters per second. The landscape resembled Mars, providing an experience that you can't have in Japan. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't favorable, and we couldn't enjoy a clear starry sky, but our guide, Mr. Kono, searched various spots to show us the stars. We later revisited Mauna Kea State Park on another day with a rental car. That time, we were blessed with clear skies and were able to enjoy a number of stars that can't be seen in Japan. Thank you very much, Mr. Kono, for everything.

Mauna Kea was closed due to bad weather, so unfortunately, I couldn't reach the summit, but I was satisfied with the beautiful sunset along the beach and the starry sky afterward. I was a bit worried about whether we would be able to see the sunset and the starry sky due to the cloudy weather, but our guide, Matsuzaki-san, really lifted our spirits. The members I was with were also fun and had great energy, making the car ride enjoyable. Matsuzaki-san was incredibly friendly and provided detailed explanations, answering any questions with precision and humor, which made me feel that choosing this tour was a great decision.

We were able to see a beautiful sunset and starry sky, and I truly appreciated that Matsuzaki-san even taught my daughter how to use her camera. Thank you so much! I would love to participate again! The photos I downloaded after returning home were absolutely beautiful! Even if I couldn't take great pictures with my own camera, I felt reassured knowing that they would capture moments for us throughout the tour.

We signed up for a one-and-a-half-hour plan for beginners as a family. We drove to the ranch with a rental car. The sign is simple and easy to overlook. Since it's a one-way road, it’s difficult to make a U-turn if you miss it. In March, it was a bit chilly, and the weather was partly cloudy. When we mentioned our reservation name, they provided us with helmets, jumpers, and a waist pouch for valuables (free of charge). After a brief lesson on how to use the reins, we set off immediately under the guidance of the instructor. The highlands offered a refreshing feeling with a 360-degree view. If the weather had been good, we might have been able to see the ocean, but unfortunately, it was cloudy and obscured. The horses were calm and moved slowly while grazing along the way, so I think even beginners can participate with confidence. While Kualoa Ranch on Oahu is nice, the spacious grasslands are unique to the Big Island.

I participated with my daughter. Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy the whole time, and since we were dealing with nature, I had resigned myself to that being half the experience. However, thanks to our guide's persistence, we were rewarded in the last few minutes when the stars spread out between the clouds. It was worth it. Thank you very much. I would like to try going during the dry season next time.

I experienced horseback riding for the first time this time. I was worried about whether I could ride well, but they provided a proper explanation beforehand, and I was able to enjoy it until the end.

I don't speak much English, but they explained things clearly, and there are important explanations in Japanese as well, so I think it's fine for those who only understand Japanese.

I was able to fully enjoy the nature of Waipi'o Valley and had the precious experience of crossing a river on horseback.

Of course, the Big Island has wonderful beaches, Kilauea, and Mauna Kea, but I truly recommend this horseback riding tour as well!

今回初めて乗馬を体験しました。上手く乗れるかどうか不安でしたが、先にちゃんと説明してくれて最後まで楽しむことが出来ました。
英語はあまり喋れませんが、分かりやすく説明してくれましたし、大事な事は日本語の説明文もあるので、日本語だけしか分からない方でも大丈夫だと思います。
ワイピオ渓谷の自然をいっぱい満喫でき、馬で川を渡るという貴重な体験ができました。
ハワイ島はもちろん海やキラウエア、マウナケアは素晴らしいですが、
この乗馬ツアーも本当に素晴らしくオススメします！

At the summit of Mauna Kea, the wind was very strong, and I felt that the perceived temperature was quite low, but since they lent us warm clothing (with ski pants!), I didn't feel too cold (although my friend who was with me seemed to be quite cold). 前日まではあまりお天気が良くなかったようでしたが、参加した日は久しぶりにきれいな夕日と星空を見ることができたと、ガイドの方がおっしゃっていました。本当にきれいな景色でした。マウナケアの山頂は、とても風が強くて、体感温度がだいぶ低かったように思いますが、防寒着（スキーズボン付き！）を貸していただけたので、それほど寒さも感じませんでした（同行の友人はかなり寒かったようですが）。
車内でのガイドさんのお話も楽しくて、よい思い出ができました。

This was one tour we will never forget! The views from the top of Mauna Kea are indescribable. You truly feel that you are on top of the world! The other positive parts of the adventure - the tour was well organize with attention to safety, tour guide Geraldo was very knowledgeable, the food was delicious and the others on the tour were a hoot to spend an evening with. If you go, be sure to dress warmly! The coats provided were great, but it was chilly prior to going up. We highly recommend this tour!

I participated at the end of June 2017.
The sunset was very beautiful.
It was cold at the summit.
They lent me warm clothing, but since I'm sensitive to the cold, I brought extra layers to wear underneath.
The sun sets quickly, so it's better to use the restroom early.
The starry sky was visible three days after the new moon.
During a full moon, the light is so strong that the stars are hard to see.
The guide was cheerful and kept the atmosphere lively, so I didn't get bored during the drive.
They also took a lot of photos and provided them for free later on.

２０１７年６月末に参加しました。
夕日がとてもきれいでした。
山頂は寒かったです。
防寒具を貸してくれましたが、寒がりなので他に中に着るものを持参して着てました。
沈むときはあっという間に沈むのでトイレは早めに済ませたほうが良さそうです。
星空は新月の３日後でしたがよく見えました。
満月ですと光が強くて星がよく見えないようです。
ガイドの方が明るくて盛り上げてくれるので移動の車内でも飽きませんでした。
写真もたくさん撮ってくれて後日無料で提供してくれます。

I couldn't go to the summit because it was closed, but from just above the Onizuka Center, I was able to see a sky full of stars. They explained the winter Milky Way and various stars, making it a very enjoyable tour.

山頂にはクローズで行けなかったですが、オニヅカセンターのちょっと上から、満天の星空を見ることが出来ました。
冬の天の川とか色々な星の説明をしてくれて、大変楽しいツアーでした。
