This is the best excursion
Reviewed by: Kathy, 2022/04/03We travel to Kona every other year. We discovered the dinner cruise the last time we went and loved it so we definitely booked it again last week. This year was even better. The crew were ready to help anyone needing help. We were waited on and spoiled. The food was tasty. The historian did a great job as did the music entertainment. We took the cruise at the end of March which should have been too late to view a whale. One popped up right beside the boat. The captain steered the boat to try to follow the whale so we could get another view. It started raining later and once again the captain did what he could to take us out away from the rain. We will definitely do this the next time we return to Hawaii.

One of the coolest things we have ever done!

Best yacht experience ever!

The drinks were flowing and they even provided a speaker for all of my friends and I to use. We had forgotten to get food and they had provided us an assortment of finger sandwiches to snack on. We watched the sunset and jumped off the boat. Honestly that experience was the highlight of my entire birthday trip in Hawaii. I will not hesitate to come back to them next time I am in Hawaii on the Big Island !

It was a great sail, no issues. We saw dolphins and one whale.

We had to wait for a few couples before we could leave but we stayed out a little longer.

The day seemed like it might not be good. Rainy and windy. But once we were i. The tour bus, our guide Gauge, was informative about the island and the areas we were driving through. He assured us it would be a great night for a sunset and stargazing. Like the mountain heard him, she did not disappoint! The sunset was spectacular, with every picture trumped by the next. Is 40 pictures of a sunset too many? Haha.
And when we got to our stargazing spot, the diamonds in the sky sparkled and gave us a show.
Dress warmly so you can enjoy. They provide gloves, but maybe invest a little bit in some good ones.

First Timers vs. Veteran Luau
Reviewed by: Cynthia Haynes, 2022/03/20For those of us who had been to previous luaus this experience was amazing. The attention to history and story telling was very interesting. The costumes, dances and national history was educational as well as entertaining. (Especially the fire dancer!) Some of our friends had never been to a luau before and also thought it was wonderful. The food was presented beautifully and delicious. (The drinks were excellent too!) We even tried the poi because this was the first time it had ever been explained to us how to eat it and with what food combination. The location was easy to find and parking was ample. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable. It was a great experience for our group of six and would highly recommend this event.

A beautiful and relaxing cruise
Reviewed by: Debbie, 2022/03/17Captain Kurt and Dave gave us a beautiful and relaxing cruise. This was something the whole family can do. We were hoping to see some whales but they were a little too shy this trip. We did have a great snorkel spot. Dave showed the best spots to see sea life. My 2 year old grandson got into the ocean for the first time. Captain Kurt was able to assist some of our family into and out of the ocean safely. Dave brought up a starfish and a sea anemone so my grandson could see and touch them before releasing them back into the ocean.

Absolutely Brilliant!! A must do on the Big Island.
Reviewed by: Jarrod Blaker, 2022/03/12Our Tour guide Travis was extremely knowledgeable on all things Hawaii (also quite humorous). He was super informative on the history, culture, geology and botany, and that was just on the ride to the summit. It is cold at the top, minus 2 deg Celsius when we were there. However warm jackets and gloves are provided. We took a beanie too which was a good idea.
The sunset is amazing on top of the clouds. We then drove down to 12,000 ft for the stargazing, which was incredible. Travis explained everything very well, and never rushed you. It was probably the best 8 hrs we have spent in Hawaii. Can’t recommend this tour any more highly. Thank you.

Fun First Night on the Island

Staff were attentive, meal was varied to allow for local cuisine and picky eaters in the group ( who knew Chick nuggets and Mac was customary but a fan fav for the kids!). Banana bread delicious. The show entertaining and ambiance pretty overlooking the water.

The host of the show did a good job also : getting old so his voice wasn’t fantastic but who cares .

Family fun
Reviewed by: Karen , 2022/03/02Overall, this was a good experience for my family. We went with 3 kids and 6 adults including grandparents. The food was tasty, but not a lot of choices for picky eaters. The show was fun and the kids were thrilled by the fire dancer! Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, they did not have any pre-event activities to keep the kids engaged. My daughter really wanted to learn to hula dance as advertised, but they did not have it the night we went. I cannot fault them for taking Covid precautions. Again, overall, the whole family walked away from this happy and with good memories.

Incredible experience

The entire tour was amazing, with incredibly gorgeous views of both the sunset above the clouds and the star filled sky. Gage was very knowledgeable and pointed out many stars and constellations as well as providing many interesting facts. Please heed the advice about bringing layers of clothing. They provide the parka but I also recommend bringing a hat and gloves if possible. The food was also good but make sure to bring water.

Big Island Whale Watching Cruise from Waikoloa - Hawaii Nautical [Dec-Mar]
Whale watching near hilton for the masses
Reviewed by: Aki, 2022/02/21Overall it's an must do cruise to go out on the ocean on a Catamaran near the Waikoloa area.
We saw whales from far off as it was afternoon and the bigger ship is not attractive to the whales.
We would do the morning trip on the powerboat with fewer people or go for the sunset cruise.There is not much info provided during the cruise so it's lacking the fun in whale watching as it can be boring if nothing happens.
It would also be better if there was a spotter pointing to the breaches as it happens very quickly and multiple people spotting can be confusing.
After you get on board you are mostly left on your own and the boat only goes less than half a mile out.
We saw more whales from the shore than on the boat but it was good to get out on the ocean with this cruise.

Had we known that - wouldn’t have had late lunch. Would have rated excellent- except the map provided was POOR. Drove around frantically for 25 minutes in marina trying to find where to go. No phone number provided. Fortunately a crew member called us and we made it. Others had same problem.

Big Island Whale Watching Cruise from Waikoloa - Hawaii Nautical [Dec-Mar]
This was an experience of a lifetime.
Reviewed by: Mike Miller, 2022/02/18Our family’s first experience whale watching was truly impressive. The crew was professional with information and safety. They did not leave out the fun and had a nice variety of refreshments. We did take the 1:30 pm tour and saw many whales.
The confirmation email as to directions to find them was not so great. They are not in front of the Lava Lava restaurant ( which kept us circling for 10 mins) they are to the right of iLava Lava down along the beach 100 yards aprox, is 2 palm trees on the beach w/ small orange sign to check in. You should notice the platoon boat and catamaran out in the water awaiting for you.
Have extra cash available for tip they are worth it.

Maka was amazing and knowledgeable not only of Mauna Kea and the surrounding areas but you could tell he loved astronomy. Highly recommend this and I’d we come back again we will try to time it in the summer on a new moon to see even more.

The staff was wonderful, the waiters were attentive and friendly. There will definitely be a next time to the island. The acknowledgment of birthdays, anniversaries and honeymooners was a joy to see. I met one of the birthday girls and a newly married couple it was a pleasure to celebrate with them all. ALOHA!!
