This excursion was our first snorkeling excursion in the Pacific Ocean, and it was our first excursion during our trip to O'ahu. The whole experience was outstanding. Veltra called us the day before to confirm the reservation and advise us where to meet the van and when. The driver from Kaimana Tours arrived within the allowed time period, and he was courteous and informative. He told us exactly what to expect when we arrived--including paying the $7.50 park admission fee (per person) completing the conservation education presentation (10-15 minutes, tops), and meeting him afterward (where and when). He passed around a chart of the types of sea life we would see in the bay. The view was breath-taking. The beach was beautiful. The staff were helpful and friendly. The snorkeling was great. Lifeguards were attentive--even using amplified sound at one point to caution some poor swimmers that they needed to move closer to the beach. Afterward, the driver met us when and where he had told us, and we were all on our way back to our hotels.

I was a little anxious about whether I could properly dive during my first snorkeling experience, but on the day of the event, I couldn't contain my excitement in front of the great outdoors and the ocean! The weather was a bit chilly with occasional light rain in the morning, so I was really glad I requested a wetsuit!

I personally think it's important to get used to the seawater, especially since I wasn't familiar with it. We practiced with a lecture and learned to put our faces in the water and dive in shallow areas, which allowed us to swim with schools of fish and enjoy snorkeling until the end! There was a little mishap where I lost my wedding ring underwater, and I regretted not taking it off before participating! I apologize for causing concern to the guide! The guide was very reliable and kind, quickly addressing anyone who wasn't feeling well. I would love to participate again when I come back to Hawaii!

We participated as a family of three, including our 5-year-old child. Although our child attends swimming school, this was their first time swimming in the ocean. Given the saltwater and waves, I was a bit anxious about whether they would manage with the snorkeling gear, but with their strong desire to "swim with turtles," we decided to go for it and signed up.

Despite my worries, our child was full of energy and excitement! There were two guides for our group of three families, totaling nine people. We started with a video about the formation of Hanauma Bay, the creatures that inhabit it, and the rules for enjoying the bay. Although it was in English, the visuals made it easy for children to understand, and there was a multilingual audio guide available.

After that, the guides carefully explained how to put on the gear, making it especially easy for the children to understand. They demonstrated how to breathe and what to do if water got into the goggles. The guides stayed at the front and back of our group, leading us to spots where we could see schools of fish and areas where the honu (sea turtles) live. We were able to encounter the honu at quite a close distance! Both adults and children were thrilled!

The honu moved gracefully through the water, occasionally surfacing to breathe, showing us their adorable appearance. After about an hour of snorkeling, even adults felt tired, but our child, despite it being their first time, managed to keep going without complaining! By the time we reached the beach, they exclaimed, "I'm tired!" and "I can't do it anymore!" but with the guides' support, they completed the experience beautifully.

Afterward, we rested on the beach with some snacks (which were delicious) and hydrated before being taken back to our hotel. We were blessed with great weather and knowledgeable guides who knew Hanauma Bay inside and out, making for a very satisfying snorkeling experience.

If you're worried about whether you can bring a preschooler (ages 5-6), don't worry! It's a lot of fun. Even if your child wants to come out early, the guides are there with you, so it's reassuring.

始めにビデオでハナウマ湾の成り立ちから、生息する生物、湾での過ごし方やルールについて学習します。英語ですが、映像でこどもも理解できるような内容で、多言語の音声ガイドもあります。
そのあと、ガイドさんが用具の装着について、丁寧に教えてくれ、こどもにはよりわかりやすく、呼吸の仕方やゴーグルに水が入った時の対処方法などを説明してくれました。
グループの先頭と最後尾にガイドさんが付いてくださり、魚の群れがいるスポット、ホヌ（ウミガメ）が生息しているスポットへと案内してくれ、かなりの至近距離でホヌに遭遇できました！！これには大人も子供も大はしゃぎ！
ホヌは私たちにかまわず、ゆったりと水中を移動したり、時折海面に出て呼吸したりと、とってもかわいらしい姿を見せてくれました。
約1時間のシュノーケリングで大人でも疲れるのですが、こどもは初めてにもかかわらず最後まで弱音を吐かず、やり遂げることができました！！さすがに浜辺にあがるころには「疲れたー」「もう無理ー」と言って、ガイドさんにサポートしていただきながら見事完走しました。
そのあとは、浜辺で水分補給とスナック菓子（これがまた美味しい）をいただきながら、からだを休め、ホテルへと送り届けていただきました。
良い天気とハナウマ湾を知り尽くしたガイドさんに恵まれ、大満足のシュノーケリングでした。
未就学児（5-6歳）連れでできるかどうか心配な方、大丈夫ですよ！！とっても楽しいです。
もしお子さんが途中で上がりたくなっても、ガイドさんが一緒なので、安心です。

Dan and Chieko knew the reef well and guided us to spots where we were gaurenteed to see the fish and sea turtles. Dan also takes pictures with his GoPro so you don't have to worry about bringing your own camera. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

I participated with my 5-year-old granddaughter, who only has experience in swimming pools. I was really looking forward to this snorkeling during my trip to Hawaii. However, once I got into the water, I became scared of the waves and felt weak. After just a few minutes, I declared that I would wait on the beach, but they kindly taught me and I was able to enjoy snorkeling safely. Throughout the snorkeling, they held my hand, and I can't find words other than gratitude.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see any turtles, but I'll save that for next time. When I go back to Hawaii, I definitely want to do this again.

I had a very luxurious time! You can dive individually, but I think it's much more enjoyable and reassuring to join a tour with a guide like Chieko. I got to see colorful fish and even met two turtles. It's great to receive photos later since it's not easy to take pictures while you're in the water.

They were patient especially since I had never snorkeled before & made sure we were comfortable before letting us venture on our own. Best part was that we got to swim with a sea turtle which was icing on the cake. There are a lot of tours out there advertising the same thing but I would highly recommend to book this tour you will be glad you did!

I was picked up from the hotel, and since the tickets were prepared, I was able to enter smoothly. The guide also took photos for us.

Regarding the bay tour, it might be challenging if the waves are strong when going from the shallow areas to the deeper parts. The guide seemed to know the best points to navigate through, and we smoothly reached the deeper areas. As we progressed around the bay, the guide taught us the names of various fish and mentioned that there were several spots where we could find turtles. We were able to spot a turtle at one point, and I was delighted to see the cute sea turtle. After coming back from the sea, we enjoyed some snacks and juice before returning to the entrance to conclude the tour.

This applies to all beach tours, but it's best to go with minimal luggage. This time, they did keep our valuables (in a locked box), but that luggage would be left on the beach.

I have been shopping in Kailua Town several times, but this time I participated with the intention of just enjoying the beach. Both Kailua and Lanikai have wonderful beach locations. After arriving at the office, I rented a bike. It's reassuring to watch a video on how to ride before getting on. Having a bike makes it convenient and enjoyable to go from Kailua to Lanikai.

First, we headed straight to Lanikai, where we took photos and went into the sea, then returned to the office for lunch, and planned to play in Kailua again. There were also people who rode bikes to town. For those who want to enjoy little by little, renting a bike allows you to explore various places.

We each had different lunches, and both were delicious. The pizza is really big but exquisite.

It was my first snorkeling experience at Hanauma Bay in 20 years. The clarity of the water and the number of fish have definitely decreased. I couldn't help but compare it to the ocean from the past, which was disappointing. However, I think it would be an impressive tour for first-time snorkelers. The pickup was on time, and they were very kind, providing recommendations for local shops and more.

I visited Hawaii on a company trip and participated in a snorkeling tour at Hanauma Bay. Hanauma Bay was so beautiful, and I was very satisfied to see small fish, large fish, and even the long-awaited sea turtles! I had some anxiety since it was my first time in Hawaii, but thanks to Dan and Chieko, I had a lot of fun and made great memories! If I visit Hawaii again, I would definitely like to participate! Since I had never snorkeled before, I opted for a guided tour. It was reassuring to have a Japanese instructor. The advantage of the tour is that you get to see many great spots in Hanauma Bay. The downside is that since it's a group tour with about ten people, there were frequent instances of being kicked, bumped into, and having selfie sticks hit me. I understand that everyone is trying their best in the water, but there was no apology even after we got back to the beach... I think the operating company should pay a bit more attention to this. I didn't get injured, but I felt it could lead to trouble. If there were only 4 to 5 participants, I think such issues would be less likely, so I recommend that those interested ask about the number of participants for the day before deciding to join. Alternatively, if it's a large group, it might be best to participate with the understanding that kicking and bumping will happen.

シュノーケルをした事かなかったので、ガイド付きにしました。インストラクターの方が日本人の方がいて安心でした。ツアーなのでハナウマ湾の良い所を沢山見れるのがメリット。デメリットはツアーなので10名位が一緒なので、蹴られる、ぶつかる、セルフィーの棒があたる。はしょっちゅう。海の中で必死なのは分かりますが、ビーチに上がってからも謝罪なし…ここは運営会社さんで、ちょっと注意した方が良いと思います。私は怪我はなかったですが、トラブルの原因になりかねないと思ってました。4～5名の参加であれば、このようなトラブルは少ないと思うので、参加される方は、事前に当日の参加人数を聞いてから参加を決める。もしくは大人数なら蹴られる、ぶつかるを前提の上で参加されると良いと思います。

As expected! The two guides, a Japanese woman and an American man who speaks fluent Japanese, really knew the area well. They coordinated perfectly, communicating by phone to navigate around construction areas on the way from the hotel to Hanauma Bay, which was wonderful.

Of course, at Hanauma Bay, they knew the best spots to see a lot of fish. With nine participants and two guides, one led the way while the other stayed at the back to ensure safety and provide support. While other tour groups couldn't see any turtles, we all got to see them perfectly! (We were lucky that the turtle was resting while eating.) Those of us with cameras were able to take great photos.

Some guests were tired from swimming, so while one group headed straight back to the beach, my husband and I decided to take our time and swim back while looking for fish. Their quick thinking in this situation was impressive! I definitely recommend the early morning tour. The visibility is much better in the morning compared to the afternoon.

I wonder how long we swam... We must have swum from one end of the bay to the other, so having good stamina is definitely a plus, but I recommend renting a wetsuit (I brought my own). It helps prevent sunburn, and more importantly, wearing a wetsuit provides buoyancy, so you will definitely float!

I hope everyone enjoys Hanauma Bay! If you want to see lots of fish and meet turtles, it's best to have a guide.

さすが！地元をよく知るガイドさん2人（日本人の女性とアメリカ人？男性で日本語ペラペラ）なだけあって、連携もよくホテルからハナウマ湾までの道のりで工事で通れないところを電話で連絡しあって迂回したりと、素敵でした。
もちろん、ハナウマ湾でも、魚の多くいるポイント知ってらっしゃるし、9名参加者がいて、ガイドさん2人来てくれて、先導する役と一番後ろから安全を確認・サポートする役としてしっかりついて、見てくれてました。他のツアーの方がカメを見れない中、うちらは全員バッチリ！（運良くカメさんがお食事で、止まっていた）見れ、カメラをもっていった私たちは、しっかり撮影もしてくれました。泳ぎ疲れたお客さんがいて、最後は直線的に浜辺へ帰る組みと私たち夫婦はまだ泳げるということで、魚を見ながらゆっくり遠回りしながら帰るといった、機転もきいたところもナイスです！やっぱり朝イチのツアーがおススメです。朝の方が「より」（午後と比べたら）透明度いいですからねぇ〜。
どのくらい泳いでいたでしょうか…湾の端から端まで泳いだはずなので、まぁ体力はあるにこしたことないですが、ウエットスーツ（私は持参）レンタルはお勧めします。日焼け防止、そして、なにより、ウエットスーツ着てれば浮力つくので、確実に浮きます！
みなさんもこのハナウマ湾ぜひ楽しんでください！！
魚たくさんみたい、カメにも逢いたい！ということであれば、ガイドさんつけた方がいいですよ。

Personally, I have been to Hanauma Bay several times, but this was my first time joining a tour. As a result, I was able to see a honu up close for the first time and swim alongside it, creating wonderful memories! The guide was a veteran with over 15 years of experience, and at the beginning, they provided snorkeling instructions, making it安心 for beginners. After that, they took us to a spot where we had a high chance of seeing honu. Within about 20 minutes, we encountered a honu while admiring colorful fish, and I was able to swim close enough to touch it. The sight of the honu swimming gracefully, completely unafraid of the people around it, was the ultimate healing experience. They also took many photos underwater, which we received for free later, making it worth more than the price.

When we got back to the sandy beach, the guide offered us water and snacks.

Thank you for a wonderful time! I highly recommend it.

個人的にハナウマ湾には何度か行ったことがありますが、ツアーに参加したのは初めてです。
結果、初めてホヌを間近で見て、一緒に泳ぐことが出来、素晴らしい思い出となりました！
ガイドの方が15年以上のベテランさんで、始めはシュノーケリングの手引きをして下さるので初心者でも安心です。
その後ホヌのいる確率が高いスポットへ連れて行ってくれます。色とりどりの魚を横目に20分程でホヌに出会い、手が届く位の距離で一緒に泳ぐことが出来ました。人間に囲まれても全く怖がることなく優雅に泳ぐホヌの姿は、最高の癒しです。
海中での写真もたくさん撮ってくださり、後日無料でいただけるので、お値段以上です。
大満足で砂浜に上がると、ガイドさんからお水とスナック菓子をいただきました。

最高のひと時を、ありがとうございました！絶対オススメです。

I participated with my husband and daughter. My daughter's dream is to swim with sea turtles, but I was a bit anxious since I'm not a good swimmer. However, the guide kindly taught us how to use the snorkel and swim, and after a little practice, I was able to do it. Schools of fish swam right in front of us, large fish came close, and we even saw an eel. Swimming among the beautiful fish felt like being a mermaid. The guide searched for sea turtles while guiding us. And finally, we spotted a sea turtle! It was eating seaweed attached to a rock, so we were able to watch it slowly and thoroughly. My daughter was overjoyed to have her wish come true. My husband also said this was the most fun part of our trip. Thank you for your efforts in finding the sea turtles. My first trip to Hawaii!!
I have experienced snorkeling once in Okinawa, but unfortunately, it was rainy, and I couldn't enjoy it due to poor visibility.
This time, I was looking forward to snorkeling because I wanted to see sea turtles.
The tour guide was able to communicate in Japanese, which made me feel at ease.
The ocean was beautiful, and I got to see tropical fish and sea turtles, which was amazing!!
If I have the chance to go to Hawaii again, I would like to use this service once more.

沖縄でシュノーケリングを1度体験していますが、あいにくの雨で視界も悪く楽しめませんでした。
今回は、ウミガメに会いたくてシュノーケリングが楽しみでした。

We participated as a family of four: my husband, our middle school son, our elementary school son, and myself. This was the afternoon tour on August 14. After researching various tours, we ultimately chose this one. Fortunately, we were the only participants, just our family of four. Our expert guide was Fumio (female). We set off to Hanauma Bay in Fumio's car. Perhaps because it was the afternoon tour or just by chance, there were no entry restrictions and no lines.

First, we attended an orientation session about Hanauma Bay in the hall. After it ended, we signed up, and it seems that if we register, we can skip the line next time (though there may be a deadline). After leaving the venue, we met up with Fumio and walked down the slope to the beach. Along the way, we took a commemorative photo at a scenic spot. The beach had snorkeling sets already prepared, and we learned how to put them on. There was a locked trunk for valuables, so we stored our things there, which was reassuring.

Then we headed into the sea. Instead of the usual saliva method for anti-fogging the masks, we were given a special anti-fog solution, which made our view clear. Fumio held our elementary school child's hand, allowing us to focus on our snorkeling without worry. The waves were quite high, and it would have been daunting to go alone, but we felt safe following her. We not only found plenty of fish but also encountered a sea turtle, which was incredibly exciting. I truly felt that choosing this tour was the right decision.

Once in the water, I was surprised at how cold it felt. As everyone said, it was definitely the right choice to take the afternoon tour instead of the morning one. After getting out of the water, we changed and enjoyed some mineral water and snacks that were provided. I had planned to take the tram back up the hill to the parking lot, but the kids wanted to walk, so I reluctantly followed them. However, it turned out to be quite refreshing, and I didn't sweat at all.

Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay was so much fun. On the way back in the car, we heard various stories from Fumio. She mentioned that currently, there are only two sea turtles in Hanauma Bay. It seems that a popular seal at Waikiki Beach has taken the spotlight. What a surprise... When we arrived at the hotel, we thanked Fumio, and the tour ended. I promised myself that if we come back to Hawaii, I will specifically request Fumio for this tour again. I encourage everyone to have a wonderful time on this tour as well.

　夫婦と中学生、小学生の息子の４人で参加しました。8/14の午後のツアーです。いろんなツアーを調べて、最終的にこのツアーにしました。参加者はラッキーにも私たち家族４人のみ。達人ガイドは、フミオさんです（女性です）。フミオさんの運転する車でいざハナウマ湾へ。午後のツアーのせいなのか、たまたまなのか、入場制限などなく、行列もありませんでした。まずはホールでハナウマ湾の説明会。終了後サインしておくと登録され次回はパスできるとの事（期限はあるようですが）。会場を出るとフミオさんと合流し、坂を下って海辺まで。途中、景色の良いところで記念写真をパチリ。浜辺の芝生には、シュノーケルセットがすでに用意されており、装着法を教わります。貴重品は鍵付のトランクがあるのでその中へ収納。安心です。そしていざ海へ。マスクの曇り止めは、よくある唾液を塗りなさいというものではなく、専用の曇り止めをつけてもらい視界爽快。フミオさんが小学生の子供の手を引いてくださるので私たちは安心して自分のシュノーケリングに専念することができました。海は結構波が高く、個人で行くと躊躇しそうなスポットでも、安心してついて行けました。魚の多いスポットはもちろんのこと、念願のウミガメにも出会えて大興奮。心からこのツアーにしてよかったと思いました。海に入っていると思いのほか体が冷えます。皆さんの言うとおり、午前ではなく午後のツアーにして正解でした。海から上がると、着替えたのち、用意されたミネラルウォーターとスナックで一息。駐車場までのぼり坂を帰りはトラムに乗ろうと思っていましたが、子供たちが歩いていくというので仕方なく？ついてゆくことに。でも汗をかくこともなく、思ったより爽快でした。ハナウマ湾のシュノーケリング、あー、楽しかった。帰りの車の中ではフミオさんからいろんなお話を聞きました。現在ハナウマ湾には２匹しかウミガメがいないとの事。ワイキキビーチでは大人気のアザラシ君にやられたそうです。なんということでしょう。。。ホテルに着くと、フミオさんにお礼を言ってツアー終了です。次回もハワイに来たら、フミオさん指定でこのツアーに参加するぞ。。と心に誓うのでした。皆さんもぜひ、このツアーで素晴らしいひと時を。。
