Driving while listening to traditional stories of West Oahu was really enjoyable. The various local anecdotes were also interesting.

Above all, snorkeling was fun, and I was able to see many beautiful fish and sea turtles up close. The rare starfish was wonderful as well.

I usually viewed Hanauma Bay from above, but this time I took the shuttle down to go snorkeling. I wondered what kind of fish I would meet. I had a little experience with snorkeling before, but this was my first time with fins. The instructors, Chieko and Dan, taught me how to snorkel very well, so I understood it in my head. Hmm, in practice… It took me a little while to get used to turning around, how to clear the water from my mask, and how to move my fins, but I was encouraged by the fish that kept appearing underwater, and I was able to enjoy snorkeling thoroughly. Towards the end, Dan found a sea turtle. It seemed to be leisurely eating. After its meal, it swam right by me without any fear. I was amazed and thrilled to see a sea turtle so close. いつもは上から眺めていたハナウマベイでしたが、今回はシュノーケルをするためにシャトルで降りていきました。　どんな魚たちに会えるかな？　以前少しシュノーケルを体験したことがありましたが、足ヒレをつける本格的なのは初めてです。インストラクターのちえ子さんとダンさんがシュノーケルの仕方を要領よく教えてくださるので、頭ではよく分かりました。　う～ん、実践では…　方向転換の仕方、メガネの中に入った水の抜き方、ヒレの動かし方など慣れるのには少しかかりましたが、次々、水中に現れる魚たちに励まされながら、たっぷりシュノーケルを楽しむことができました。最後の方で、ダンさんがウミガメを見つけてくださいました。のんびりとお食事中のようでした。食後は、私のすぐ近くを、恐れもせず悠々と泳いで行きました。こんなに近くでウミガメが見られるなんて…驚きと感激でした。このツアーに参加してホント良かったです。一緒に参加した夫とバディーを組んだのですが、なかなか一緒に泳ぐことができず、ずっとちえ子さんに手を引いていただくことになりました。お世話になりました。お陰様で、安心してシュノーケルを楽しむことができました。また、シュノーケルをしたくなったら絶対このツアーに参加します。有難うございました。

As expected from an expert guide, they were very knowledgeable about Hanauma Bay and showed us the best spots for turtles and fish based on the day's sea conditions. We were able to meet and swim with the turtles, and we encountered schools of different types of fish twice, feeling as if we were swimming inside an aquarium. Thanks to our guide, we were able to enjoy ourselves efficiently and safely, creating the best memories.

Even in summer, being in the water for long periods can surprisingly cool your body down, so I think those who are sensitive to the cold should wear a wetsuit or rash guard to enjoy it even more.

ガイドなしのプランと迷ったのですが、こちらにして大正解でした！さすが達人ガイドさん。ハナウマ湾を熟知していて、その日の海の状況から亀や魚のいそうな場所を案内してくれました。そして亀に会うことができ、一緒に泳ぐことができました。また、違った種類の魚の群れにも２回遭遇し、さながら水族館の水槽の中を泳いでいる気分でした。ガイドさんのおかげで、効率よく安全に楽しむことができ、最高の思い出をつくることができました。
夏でも長時間水に浸かっていると意外に体が冷えるので、寒がりの方はウエットスーツやラッシュガードを着用した方が、より楽しめると思います。

This was my first time snorkeling in Hawaii. The weather was the best it had been during our stay, and since it was an afternoon tour, it wasn't cold at all—the timing was perfect! My wife, who can't swim, was able to glide through the water for an hour of snorkeling with the help of a life jacket and fins, thanks to Chieko's clear explanations and teaching style. We were amazed by the colorful small fish and schools of large parrotfish and ladyfish right in front of us. At one point, Dan called us over, and we saw a sea turtle up close. It was my first time seeing a sea turtle at such a reachable distance, and I was truly moved. I think this was the best snorkeling experience I've ever had. Although I couldn't take good pictures with my underwater camera, I was really glad to be able to download photos from Dan's Facebook. Thank you for a wonderful time that I could get lost in. Next time, I plan to join this tour again with my daughter and her husband and my grandchildren.

I was worried about the strong sunlight since I could only go in the afternoon, but it turned out to be a cold morning, so the afternoon was the right choice. I received a thorough briefing from Fumio and then headed straight into the sea. At first, I got some seawater in my mouth, but with Fumio's guidance, I was able to see a honu (sea turtle) right away. As I swam with the beautiful schools of white fish, I got used to it, and thanks to the fins, I felt like a mermaid! My son's family was also delighted and said they want to do it again. This was our family's fourth trip to Hawaii. We wanted to visit West Oahu, which we hadn't been to before, so we decided to join this tour. On the day of the tour, we were lucky to have just our family, and we were able to talk a lot with our guide, Akima. He shared various tips, such as the delicious food court places at Ala Moana (Lahaina Chicken, Blue Water Shrimp) and recommended buying grass-fed meat at Whole Foods if we wanted to cook for ourselves. We later visited those places and bought the meat, which was really cheap and delicious! Personally, I found it much tastier than Wolfgang's. The tour took us to West Oahu, which isn't often featured in guidebooks, and I believe it's a power spot. Akima's stories about the myths were fascinating and mystical, and just listening to them was very healing for me.

The highlight was snorkeling. At first, the water was murky and visibility was poor, but as we swam further, the water cleared up, and we could see colorful tropical fish. To our surprise, we encountered three sea turtles! We were able to swim alongside them. Akima, our underwater photographer, took pictures of us with the sea turtles and later emailed them to us. My middle school son, who has snorkeled in places like the Great Barrier Reef, Guam, Saipan, and Phuket, said, "This was the best ever! I want to go again!" Thank you, Akima, for the wonderful memories! We look forward to the next time!

今回家族で4回目のハワイ。まだ行ったことのない西オアフに行きたいと思って参加しました。ツアー当日は運良くうちの家族だけで、ガイドのあきまさんともたくさんお話しでき、おいしいアラモアナのフードコートのお店（ラハナチキン、ブルーウォーターシュリンプ）や自炊するならホールフーズでグラスフェッド（牧草だけを食べて育った牛）のお肉を買うといいなど、ツアー以外のことも色々教えて頂き、後日実際お店に行ったり、お肉も買いましたが、本当に安くておいしかったです‼︎（お肉は個人的にはウルフギャン◯よりもずっとおいしい☆）ツアーもガイドブックにはあまり紹介されていない西オアフ、パワースポットであるからだとも思いますが、あきまさんがして下さる神話の話がおもしろく、神秘的で私は見ているだけでとても癒されました。
クライマックスのシュノーケリング、入ってすぐは濁っていて視界が悪かったのですが、泳ぎ進めていくうちに視界もクリアになり、色とりどりの熱帯魚が見れ、さらにはなんと3匹の海亀に遭遇‼︎一緒に泳ぐことができました。水中カメラマンのあきまさんには海亀との写真をいつの間にか撮って頂き、後日メールで送って頂きました。グレートバリアリーフ、グアム、サイパン、プーケットなどの海でもシュノーケリングをしたことがある中学生の息子が「今までで一番良かった‼︎また行きたい‼︎」と言っていました。あきまさん、素敵な思い出をありがとうございます‼︎次回もまたよろしくお願いします☆

The snorkeling spot had calm waves, and our elementary school-aged sons seemed to relax and enjoy themselves very much. After reading the experiences, I was excited to participate because I heard we could see turtles and a lot of fish. Last time I joined an outrigger tour, there were many turtles, and I was really impressed, so I expected something similar this time. However, the waves were a bit high at the location, and there were many children and non-swimmers in the same group, so we probably couldn't go out too far this time. The husband and wife team were insightful, helpful, and made sure everyone was safe. They even picked us us and gave us a mini tour of the island sites as we drove. I would definitely recommend to anyone including families with children. They had an additional family with us with small children and they provided them with extra resources to be safe and have fun.

Since my wife and daughter had no experience with snorkeling and weren't strong swimmers, we decided to hire a guide. It turned out to be a great decision. The guide carefully explained the precautions and techniques, and took great care of my daughter and wife, which made me feel at ease. I definitely think that having a guide is essential for beginners.

Also, I believe it's better to wear a wetsuit for various reasons. It reduces the risk of injury from coral and helps with buoyancy. I am truly grateful to our guide for this experience.

I was incredibly satisfied to encounter two seals and a sea turtle! Even as a beginner, I felt at ease swimming because they taught me how to use the snorkel. I appreciated that they checked in on me during the trip to see if I was okay. It was also great that they took photos before entering the water and underwater.

This time, I participated in snorkeling with my 13-year-old son. It was our first time snorkeling in Hawaii, and unfortunately, we didn't encounter any honu (turtles), but swimming with an incredible number of tropical fish became an unforgettable memory.

I participated with my father and son. All three of us were filled with anxiety as it was our first time snorkeling. In the end, we felt that we couldn't have done it without the guide! We didn't even know how to put on the wetsuits, and once we got into the water, we struggled to put on our fins due to the waves and ended up stumbling a lot. During those times, we received help multiple times. Especially my father, who is 70 years old, needed support in some areas. He also mentioned that he couldn't have done it without the guide! We consulted with our guide, Mieko, about wanting to visit Kailua Town, and she gave us advice that allowed us to add bike rentals and extend our trip to Lanikai Beach and Kailua Town. Lanikai Beach has beautiful sand and clear water, and it was also less crowded, allowing us to relax. I'm glad we chose this course instead of the half-day option. There wasn't a single unnecessary item for enjoying the beach; everything was well thought out. The pizza for lunch was exquisite! The crust was perfectly baked, and we were amazed by its size, but we finished it all.

カイルアタウンも行きたいとガイドのみえこさんに相談し、アドバイスいただき、レンタサイクルを追加してでラニカイビーチ、カイルアタウンまで足を延ばすことができました。
ラニカイビーチは砂浜、海の綺麗さ素晴らしいです。また、人も少なくのんびりできました。半日コースではなくこちらのコースにしてよかったです。
ビーチアイテムも楽しむのに無駄なものは一つもなく、よく考えられているなと思いました。ランチもピザが絶品！生地がパリっと焼き上げられ大きいさに驚きながらも食べつくしました。

At 7 AM, we were picked up from the hotel and headed to Hanauma Bay, which has been selected as the No. 1 best beach. This shallow sea, formed from a collapsed volcanic crater, is teeming with fish. You can swim surprisingly close to them.

The reason for the early morning start is that the parking lot fills up quickly. Due to conservation efforts, the parking capacity is small, and once it reaches full capacity, the gates are closed. During this time before the summer vacation in Japan, there are fewer Japanese tourists, and many locals are present. Also, there are plenty of cats on the beach.

And guess what!! A large guest, a seal, was there. Previously, they could only be seen a few times a year, but now it seems they are visiting almost every day.

早朝7時のホテルピックアップでNo.1ベストビーチにも選ばれたハナウマ湾に。元々火口だったところが落ち込んでできた遠浅の海に魚がいっぱい。
びっくりするくらい近くで泳ぐことがでできます。

朝がやたらと早い理由は駐車場がいっぱいになってしまうからだそう。
自然保護のためか駐車場のキャパシティーが小さいので、いっぱいになった時点でゲートを閉じてしまうそうです。
日本の学校の夏休み前のこの時期は日本人が少なく、地元の人がいっぱい。そしてビーチには猫もいっぱい。

そしてなんと！！大きな先客、アザラシ君が。
以前は年数回しか見られなかった彼らですが、今ならほぼ毎日と言っていいくらい訪れているみたいです。
