This is my fifth visit to Hawaii after four years, but it was my first time at Hanauma Bay. Having experienced snorkeling in Miyako Island and the Great Barrier Reef, I underestimated it. Perhaps due to my age, I struggled with breathing through my mouth and even got seasick, so I was very grateful for the guide's assistance. The guide held my hand the whole time and helped me see a lot of colorful fish. Because Hanauma Bay is protected by nature, you can observe the fish eating the food stuck to the rocks. It was difficult to get there since you can't take the trolley from Waikiki, and the bus requires transfers, so I was quite anxious about it, but this tour with a guide completely alleviated those concerns. We participated in our first snorkeling experience as a couple. The tour started at 12 PM with 9 participants and 2 instructors (Chieko and Dan). The weather was clear and sunny. We were able to swim for a full hour in deep water due to high tide. They also took photos underwater, which created great memories.

My wife was worried because she is not a strong swimmer, but Chieko held her hand while she got used to it and always made sure to check on her when they separated. Towards the end, when my wife wanted to return early due to fatigue, Chieko guided her back to the shore properly.

I actually started to feel seasick midway through, but for those who are not used to it or feel anxious, it seems advisable to take motion sickness medication as mentioned in the items to bring.

After the COVID restrictions were lifted, I finally got to visit Hanauma Bay. However, since the days for entering Hanauma Bay are still limited, making a reservation individually can be quite challenging. Fortunately, there are tours that offer entry reservations for Hanauma Bay, along with transportation, which is reassuring. The guide was very kind, and there were no particular issues from preparation to snorkeling to cleanup. During snorkeling, they took us to the appropriate snorkeling points by observing the tides. While snorkeling, they kept an eye on us to ensure we didn't get separated, and they provided support when we fell behind our group. I believe this is a tour that even beginners can participate in with confidence.

The pickup from the hotel and the option to choose activities at Kailua Beach were great. Instead of going into town, the kids chose to rent beach items. We got a large float, but it wasn't very useful in the actual sea. The ocean was beautiful, and we were taken back to town, so overall it was good, but the tour felt a bit pricey. It would have been even better if there was a shuttle service from Kailua Beach to Lanikai Beach.

This was an experience under the clear sky that truly felt like a Hawaiian beach. I added a wetsuit to my equipment rental and was fully prepared with my own gloves. The high tide allowed for sufficient water depth, so the fish were coming out from the rocks. The large size of the fish may be due to the thorough management of the reef. I was able to see a small turtle, possibly carried by the current. To be honest, the waves were high, visibility was low, and it turned into a challenging snorkeling experience due to seasickness and physical exhaustion, but that’s just the luck of the draw. I hope for better conditions next time.

There were a total of seven of us: two young couples, my 66-year-old self and my son, and one man from overseas. They held my hand, as I’m not a strong swimmer, and guided me to where the fish and turtles were swimming. I was quite anxious as a beginner and being older, but the one-hour snorkeling experience was just fine. Their advice was to take motion sickness medication if you’re worried about seasickness. I also recommend borrowing a wetsuit to prevent injuries and sunburn. I’m really glad I participated.

Dan and Chieko were great hosts and guides. Dan picked us up and we talked with him quite a bit. He was kind, knowledgeable, and down-to-earth. Chieko was energetic, caring, and knowledgeable. The whole process (pick up and drop off, fitting for flippers, trolley down to the beach, putting on wet suits (additional option), instructions on technique and guidelines, storage of valuables, etc) was smooth from start to finish. This was my partner’s first experience snorkeling; she felt safe and at ease with Dan’s and Chieko’s instructions and guidance. We spent some time in the shallows and then went to deeper parts of the bay. We saw lots of fish! Hanauma Bay is a very special place. Overall, this was an amazing experience that my partner and I highly recommend!!!

It was tough having to swim closely together with 9 participants. While snorkeling, we had to keep an eye on the guide's position, and it became difficult to swim when everyone was too clustered. I thought it would have been nice to swim a bit more freely.

I went snorkeling with a light heart among young people. Thanks to the instructor who guided us without letting go of our hands, I was able to swim for an hour. The waves were rough that day, and I don't think I could have made it on my own, so I'm grateful. Because of that, I had the memorable experience of encountering turtles twice and swimming with them. I was tired, but it was fun.

It was a cloudy and chilly day, and the guide recommended renting wetsuits to prevent injuries from the cold and coral. It was definitely the right decision to rent them since we passed very close to the coral.

I was truly thrilled to encounter sea turtles. The guide was bright and very kind, and I greatly appreciated their help. It was a memorable experience for the whole family.

I chose Waikiki Beach because there are many high-rise hotels, and I wanted to spend time at a relaxing beach. Since I was with a toddler and a baby, we didn't do any specific activities; we just took a walk and played with the floaties we borrowed, but we were more than happy and satisfied. It was still a bit chilly for swimming, so there were few people, allowing us to fully enjoy the quiet and beautiful waters of Hawaii. The pizza for lunch had a mountain of minced garlic on it, so it might be a bit much for those sensitive to smells. In the afternoon, we went to the city and found many toys and goods from the popular Canadian anime, Paw Patrol, which we were able to purchase.

ワイキキビーチは高層ホテルが多いので、のんびりした雰囲気のビーチで過ごしたくて申し込みました。幼児とベビー連れだったので、アクティビティは特に何もせずに、お散歩と貸してもらった浮き輪で遊びましたが、充分喜んで満足していました。まだ、海水も少し冷たい時期なので人も少なく、静かで美しいハワイの海を満喫できました。ランチのピザはみじん切りのニンニクが山ほど振りかけてあるので臭いの気になる人は微妙かもしれません。午後は街に行ってマートに日本でも人気のカナダのアニメ、バウパトのオモチャやグッズがたくさんあったので購入することもできました。
